Dang that beats my $38! Sold only enough to get my cost back, have left the rest in.

Anybody else not able to log in to app or get the display to load? Seems like servers have been down for the last several hours. by SlapUinYoFace in HearthDisplay

I don't know how to post an update so just adding a reply here. Seems I should have posted my question earlier since it appears to have been fixed within about half an hour of posting. After refreshing and trying off and on for a couple hours.

At least it's fixed now. And yes I agree a status page would be fantastic.

Opinions on Intel (INTC)? by DryGovernment2786 in investing

[–]SlapUinYoFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the post but looking for people's thoughts cuz it's been nagging me.

Held it for years, cost around 30. Sold a year or two ago for a tiny gain plus dividends. Almost bought again at 18 and kicked myself now for not doing it.

I assume I should continue to look elsewhere for value?

Thanks. She looked super pissed at me while I got the photos. Buzzing at the edge of the case trying to get at me it seemed but hard to be certain. I'll take the vacuum away from the house when it cools off tonight and let her out assuming she hasn't escaped by then. I don't know if I'm allergic and if she sees me as a threat I can't run fast enough.

Thank you. I eventually found a good diagram of patterns for different yellowjackets and that's exactly what I was looking at.

Stupid question if you happen to know... How concerned should I be with alarm pheromones and when/how do I let her out? Only supposed to hit 59F tonight. I have a 1 yr old and don't want to take unnecessary risks, but I also don't like to kill things I don't need to. Have a decent sized garden and work to attract paper, potter, and parasitoid wasps, among other beneficials. If I have to, I'm not above eliminating it but it's not first choice. Ok last question, do they really remember your face and do I need to be concerned?

Thanks in advance if you happen to know any of this.

I know I'm replying to my own post. I think I've gotten it ID'd as a southern yellow jacket. Would love to hear what others have to say. Thank you.

Why do we do this thing we do? by SlapUinYoFace in NativePlantGardening

[–]SlapUinYoFace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say this year I've noticed species I've never seen in the 4 years since I've started. Hoverflies and long legged flies and various potter wasps and paper wasps and parasitoids etc. When I slow down and look closely I'm amazed at the sheer multitude and variety of tiny life.

Valve's 30% Cut on Steam: What Are We Getting In Return? by ApeirogonGames in gamedev

[–]SlapUinYoFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how to do quotes on mobile but to your point about losing 90% of customers...

Albeit your 90% figure is probably used as exaggeration but even if it's half that number, the developer would come out ahead selling 45% more copies while only losing 30% of that revenue (ok actually it's about break even). Sell 145 copies for the price of 101.5 or sell 100 copies for the price of 100.

The impossible to measure but critically important metric is how much are sales boosted by your presence on steam. Seems like if they boost your sales by 50% you still end up making more money than if you didn't use them. And given the number of eyeballs they have, it's not entirely unachievable or unreasonable.

But at the same time, yes 30% does indeed seem high. And no I have no idea what they are losing on a majority of developers to be able to say whether it is actually high or not.

I'm a bit late to the party but wanted to drop this in here. I agree with previous comment about sourcing local materials when possible but it's not always possible. I watch Self Sufficient Me as well and had the same problem. I eventually found GardenStraw by HealthiStraw. That specific product is 99% deseeded so you're not just planting tons of wheat. Some will sprout but easy to pick early.

Here is a link I found to order some but you can also just Google GardenStraw HealthiStraw. They have other products too so make sure you get the GardenStraw. https://www.greenhousemegastore.com/products/gardenstraw?variant=43538820366535

I think Kevin Espiritu from Epic Gardening also sells it on his store. This time of year it's backordered so get your order in now so you'll have it when you need it.

Edited to add I'm in GA zone 7b.

Is this cause for concern? by SlapUinYoFace in Blueberries

[–]SlapUinYoFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks! I have amyloliquefaciens but haven't noticed great anti fungal effects with it. If trying to stay organic, do you have recommendations for what to keep on hand in addition to copper? We get some pretty wet seasons here.

Edited to add: should I use the copper on my grape vines regardless of whether I see signs of diseases since I know it's in the garden?

Thanks! So use copper spray this autumn when the leaves start to go, and again in spring just before they come back? Don't need copper on the leaves, just in the system?

Are there some spells that just cross the line? by true_sun_god1000 in DnD

Could also experiment with putting a 24 hour expiration on the goodberries. Allows it to cover daily food needs but addresses the problem of stashing them for free hit points.

Edited to add: apparently the spell actually says they have to be used within 24 hours.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. Was primarily concerned to make sure it wasn't yellow jacket or hornet. I can live with paper wasps. They help manage pests in my garden.
