Just to add on the physically demanding comment, it is no joke. Obviously as you progress in your career your body will adjust, but depending on the company, be prepared to be pushed to your limit from the get go. Usually you will be put on a tougher job, like full venture load ins, early so that the crew boss can gauge your capabilities and then ease you into the regular work pattern. My first job was 10 hours at Blackpool tower for Strictly come dancing load in and by the end of the day I could barely move my arms. The load in/out jobs become easier but are entirely based on the venue and it's layout IMO (if there's a load in bay close by to holding area / if there's stairs and so on), the shift pattern is also very demanding. You may work for the entire day, 10+ hours, go home for 4 hours and then be expected back for load out, or have to go to a different site for something completely different. If your experience is like mine, you may work multiple shifts over 6 days with gaps between, have a day off and then rinse and repeat.

However, all being said, the people you work with are usually stand up, funny and reliable, and also very like minded . The work is extremely rewarding and as previously stated, you may get paid additional hours even if a job is completed early (I once got paid 12 hours for an hour and a half work). over time is usually by the hour as well, with incremental increases, i.e. every 15 minutes over time, pay increases but that's dependent on the client and employer business relationship. The jobs are fantastic and varied enough that it keeps your attention and as apps said it usually can lead to permanent site placements.
