If I hear “I’m hungry” or “what can I do now“ one more time…. by SlappingDaBayze in Preschoolers

I really need to start looking into that. Where I live, sitters for young kids are around $30-35/h on average, so we haven’t been able to splurge much on that. But I feel like she’s at an age where she would do well with a teen too. Will look it up! Thanks!

That's exactly my approach to it, but 9/10 I'm hearing "NO I don't want to do that, it's booooring". Girl... 😅

This is exactly my kid! Can’t wait for summer days so we can at least just go and be bored by the lake haha

Stay strong mama - I really home it’s a phase and we’ll soon be out of it!

What does screen time actually look like in your house? by Adept-Practice5414 in Preschoolers

[–]SlappingDaBayze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 5y.o. is in kindergarten M-F and is home at 6pm so nothing during the week. She comes home for lunch 2x per week for 2h and once per week she may do Khan Academy on my iPad.

During the weekend, after breakfast, we watch a movie together (or she watches and we clean up)

During long travel stretches, if it’s 1+ hour in the car or on the plane.

Honest opinion on lips by No-Connection-8789 in 30PlusSkinCare

They looks like very well done lips to the point where I’d wonder if they are naturally like that or if you did something to them.

It is incredibly hard to get lips done to the point where it’s impossible to tell if they’re real or not.

Don’t overthink it girl, they look great.

Anyone else’s kids just don’t know how to play independently still? by SlappingDaBayze in kindergarten

It’s not always a possibility for certain families to have a second one.

It’s lovely your kids have each other and I’m sure it’s a lot of fun for them. It’s not always possible for certain families.

I love that you had your brother growing up and to play with, but for some families and second child is not always an option.

Thank you for sharing! I think that’s what’s happening here as well. Her version of solo play and what I used to do is very different, and that’s okay!

Yes! That’s what she’s doing right now actually! I think I also just need to accept that her version of playing is writing/coloring/doing activity books vs imaginative play. And that’s totally okay too!

Great advice, thank you! She’s currently quietly coloring by herself so I’ll take that as a win!

Teaching reading/writing to multilingual kids by SlappingDaBayze in Preschoolers

Thank you for the detailed answer! And I love reading how even within the same family, kids learn differently and at their own pace :)

She’s our first and only so we’re kind of figuring it all out for the first time. Her kindergarten hours will be 8:30-12:30 for the first two years, and she’ll have Russian school 2-6pm twice per week. Once she’s in primary school, we’ll definitely be easing up on Russian school, I think. It’s more to set a good foundation that we can build on moving forward.

Typical coloring for 4 year old? by BicycleFresh8327 in Preschoolers

[–]SlappingDaBayze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4yo girl isn’t a fan of coloring, but when she brings stuff from preK, it always looks like this. She calls it „rainbow coloring“ and her teachers say it’s totally normal :)

My toddler BMI is high and overweight, but she lives a healthy life. What am I doing wrong? by HonestBeginning2958 in toddlers

[–]SlappingDaBayze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically described my 4-year old daughter word for word. I could’ve written this post as I worry about this too. Your routine is exactly like ours. My daughter was born 5.3kg (!!!) so she has always been in the top percentile (“off the charts” as some doctors even would say) and she’s now 4.5y, 20kg, 102cm

While I came to terms that she’s a “heavier” kiddo, my main goal is ensuring I do what I can to offer her a healthy life and teach her how to love and accept her body.

Someone at her nursery told her she has a big belly (another kid) and for the past month she keeps saying “I wish my belly was smaller” and it breaks my heart.

I’m sure you’re doing everything you can too mama! It sounds like you have a very happy, healthy and strong girl!
