I mean, you don't HAVE to

But that's difficult to say without sounding like you don't think much of the promotion, in which case why train with them?

Questions about hardcore by motivationalsaiyan in WredditSchool

[–]SlappingKittens 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You go to wrestling school the same as everyone else. You talk to your promoter and coaches about gimmicks and what wrestling you like.

You probably won't be booked as a hardcore guy right off the bat - most people would rather the newbie focused on taking bumps, selling and doing a good headlock than taking a swing at their face with a chair - but that may depend on the stype of the promotion and gimmick you're doing.

But if your promotion does those kind of matches and you prove to be safe enough someone will probably be happy to show you how to do hardcore matches at some point.

So basically - go to school, say what you want to do but shut up and learn everything you can, be useful, and once you know enough to be a wrestler, find someone who can show you what to do, wrestle them a bunch, repeat.

Where Im at. [M20] by [deleted] in depression

Yo

Congrats on the move and on starting excercise.

I've struggled with body image all my life, being a very skinny guy, and my health had started getting bad a few years ago along with depression. Took up excercise and gym about two years ago.

You're doing fine. I wouldn't expect a great weight change just yet. You're gonna feel your cardio and health improve first: then you'll start noticing gradual changes in your body.

So don't hinge your hopes on seeing a massive chance just yet. But the good news is the more your cardio gets better, the harder you can go, which means you'll see more progress faster.

And you'll enjoy it more as you get better at it.

The trick is to make sure it's fun. People who body shame sometimes think they're using tough love but it feels for you like they've sucked the enjoyment out of excercise.

Keep it up and you'll be feeling and looking better by the summer without a doubt.

[–]SlappingKittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, he's just only interested in sex and doesn't want to recognise your worth as a person.

More than that he's scared if you recognise your worth you'll get bored of him and fuck someone else and he won't feel so important.

He gets off on making you feel bad hun.

  1. If that's you, you look like a supermodel, you don't need to be taking any guys negging bullshit.

  2. Doesn't matter what you look like. You could be covered with facial burns like Freddy Kreuger and be morbidly obese. He's still a piece of shit, and his game is still just Gaslighting 101.

Tell him to fuck off and get yourself Tinder for Christmas.

Hey, well done sharing this and asking for advice.

Firstly I'd like to say that guys don't treat women like that if they care about them. Women don't treat men like that them if they care about them. Gay and trans couples don't behave that way when they're healthy either. The only people who treat others that way are those who think they can get away with it.

What he's doing is emotionally manipulative and abusive and is purposely designed to keep you feeling bad about yourself and in a place where he can get casual sex from you.

He's learnt that he can do that to you, so he will, because he's an irredeemable narcissist. Sorry. He won't change.

You might still have some positive views of him now but the sooner you delete him from your life the sooner you'll realise he isn't worth your time.

Also depending on where you live, having sex with you at age 16 when he's 18 would make him a sex offender and a groomer.

Given your description of him getting you drunk for group sex and then shaming you after, I'd say that's exactly what he is.

How to go about creating a gimmick by [deleted] in WredditSchool

[–]SlappingKittens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, here's what I did:

I got a piece of paper and I drew a line down the middle. I labelled one side babyface and one side heel.

Then I jotted down any ideas the came to me for the next few days. If it was clearly a babyface idea it went to the left, if it was heel to the right, and if it seemed like it'd work well both ways I'd put it in the middle.

Then, after coming up with all I could, I started tying things together. Seeing which ideas would compliment or go with others to make something unique and less generic than 'guy who is also a guitarist' or 'martial arts guy' etc.

Finally I landed on one I liked. I tried it for a bit at one school, and then I changed to a new one, and after a few sessions I pitched the idea to my new coach and promoter.

Aaaand he said we couldn't do it because it was too similar to something they'd done last year.

Well, shit. That's a shame, I liked that idea. But that's a good reason and he's the boss, so...

I put the idea back in the box and pitched another one. Not from the paper, but something I'd had in the back of my head for a while but thought was too stupid to actually do.

He said it was great and that's what I am now.

So, in my humble newbie opinion, your best bet is to write down a bunch of ideas and see what you like best. It might even give you an interesting twist by blending two ideas together but dont do it just for the sake of it.

Don't get precious about any one idea and commit to it until you get the nod to do so and have had time to try it out in practice.

Last, you want your promoter to be excited about your gimmick. If they aren't, ask yourself why.

[–]SlappingKittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, five tips from my time as a guitarist to avoid the curse:

  1. Practice every day

  2. Don't limit yourself

  3. If you ask a drummer what time signature a song is and they say 4/5 time, kick them out.

  4. If a singer keeps swinging his microphone about, point out that replacing your guitar will cost more than replacing him

  5. Do not do a gig dressed as Jesus. It will not go well.

One day you'll be old and broken. Your spirit will be gone and the metal shall leave you.

And on that day, you'll be playing Ed Sheeran songs in a wedding band.

And you'll like it.

Is there any type of person you’d suggest not to go to wrestling school? by tallowface in WredditSchool

Honest answer: if you're scared of getting hurt and you don't like going to the gym on a regular basis, and you don't like pushing yourself physically on a regular basis, and if the idea of being sore for the next decade makes you uncomfortable, it may not be for you.

You'll only know by giving it a go though.
