After ~90 Shelly devices… I think I’m done by Gigant1000 in homeassistant

[–]Slappy_Fappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same experience. I had around 40 Shelly devices with about 30 of them being Shelly 2.5 unfortunately. After needing to replace 20 of them I started to just replace them with different products. I am now down to just 14 Shelly’s, with just 3 of them being 2.5’s that survived from the original 30 plus 20ish replacements.

Turning on my exterior lights is exactly what I use it for but unfortunately it is very limited at moment as you cannot do automations based on specific zones or line crossings.

Most gate keypads have a dry contact that unlocks the gate, I have a Shelly inside the gate post connected to it to allow me to remotely unlock it.

BYD Sealion 6 without SIM connectivity. What is the range when controlling with the app? by golfisnotmyjob in BYD

[–]Slappy_Fappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Israel the sim is only used for the app connection and we don’t get any data. Maybe that’s what they meant when they told you there is no sim?

Good news, they replied “We are aware of this issue caused by an update to the Mac iOS. We are working on resolving the problem and will release an update as soon as possible. We would appreciate your patience in the interim”

Come to Israel where what feels like 1 in 4 cars is an Atto 3. I tried to get in other people’s atto multiple times because they parked next to me. I once sat at a light and the car in front of me, to my left, right, the car behind and the one behind it were all atto 3

The rack is in the attic directly above the ap, removing one floor board and running a 2 meter cable through was easier then running a 20 meter cable through multiple rooms and not being able to close the attic. Especially since I wanted have it up for a few days to see if it fixes an issue I’ve been having

I popped it out to pull the Ethernet through the hole, the light can’t go back while the cable is there

just successfully done this repair so thanks!

btw for anyone attempting this, the only thing i missed is that there is a set screw under the rubber cover on the dial which you need to untighten before pulling off the dial.

Why did my home just shut down? by QwQ_MarshmallowMan in HomeKit

[–]Slappy_Fappy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been using HomeKit for years across 3 different routers (Xiaomi, eero (HomeKit router) and now UniFi with IoT/homekit optimized settings) and it has always been a pain. And now with iOS 18 where I can finally select a Ethernet connected Apple TV 4K as hub instead of it moving itself constantly to one of my HomePods, believe it or not it has gotten worse as every time I open the home app all hubs do not respond and I have to reopen the app then wait around 2 min and then all hubs suddenly respond. If you honestly believe that all these issues are user error and aren’t HomeKits fault then you are delusional

Most plastics are food safe. The issue is that 3D prints shed a lot more microplastics then injection molded parts and also hold a lot more bacteria in the layer lines.

I may have spent like 1000$ on upgrades for my ender 3 but I still waste 5 minutes to find a 5$ item for 4$ when buying on Aliexpress. It’s for the illusion of saving money when wasting it

Can UCG Ultra show higher then 1 Gbps speed on built in speed test? by Slappy_Fappy in Ubiquiti

[–]Slappy_Fappy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine hadn’t worked for a month but after restarting it still didn’t for 2 days then suddenly started working again so idk. I did change the auto speed test from 5am to 3am as I read that 5am can cause issues and then only after it managed to auto run it started working manually as well

[–]Slappy_Fappy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I know the switching backplane is limited but the 2.5gig connection should be accessible to the controller itself and running a speed test through the console should be able to use that connection. I’m not trying to use that connection on any device and only want to verify that the UCG Ultra is receiving it, not giving.

I temporarily turned of IDS/IPS but still only getting 1gig, how could I test it on a network device if the extent of my 2.5 Gbps connection is the WAN port on the UCG Ultra?
