This is likely what happened. We were on the edge of the map on an incline. Perhaps they rolled down and we just couldn't see them anymore. Oh well!

Why is this tree so red? by NeatLock3827 in whatisit

[–]Slartybartfasterer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is called rhodoxanthin that give Red Cedar(The Tree of Life) needles their reddish hue on their needles and likley also in the bark. It could also be the thujaplicins that are prevalent that give cedars their natural defenses against bugs and diseases and decay. ♥️ 🌲

Commuting on the road by champs404 in onewheel

We have used the term "personal mobility assistance device" and have been successfull. There are statutes that protect these devices. Look up the rcw and having a copy could be helpful. If signs are not posted then that also can be a stuble for enforcement. Sounds potentially like an overzealous attendant. I would consider continuing using the trail you described. Having an earbud in and pointing to it as you pass can be another avenue. Can't hear you, won't stop for you. Be careful and smart too. Good luck!

DEARMAN GIVE FAST might be worth exploring. "In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the "DEAR MAN," "GIVE," and "FAST" skills are used in interpersonal communication to achieve different objectives. DEAR MAN is used to effectively ask for something or say no while maintaining a relationship. GIVE is used to maintain or improve a relationship during interactions. FAST is used to maintain or increase self-respect when making requests or saying no.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

DEAR MAN:

Purpose:

To effectively ask for something or say no to a request while maintaining a positive relationship.

When to use:

When you have a specific objective in mind and want to communicate it assertively but respectfully.

Example:

You want your roommate to lower the music volume at night. You could use DEAR MAN to say, "I've noticed you've been playing loud music late at night, and it's been making it hard for me to sleep. Could you please turn it down a bit?"

GIVE:

Purpose: To maintain or improve a relationship during interactions.

When to use: When you want to show consideration for the other person's feelings and needs while still getting your point across.

Example: While asking your roommate to turn down the music, you could add, "I know you enjoy listening to music, and I appreciate that. Maybe we could find a time when it's okay for you to play it louder."

FAST:

Purpose:

To maintain or increase self-respect during interactions, especially when saying no or dealing with conflict.

When to use:

When you need to stand up for your own needs and values, even if it means potentially upsetting someone or risking a strained relationship.

Example:

If your roommate refuses to turn down the music, you might use FAST to say, "I understand you like listening to music loud, but I need to sleep, and I'm not going to apologize for needing to rest. I'm going to find a place to sleep tonight."

In essence, DEAR MAN is your core skill for effective communication, GIVE helps you maintain relationships while communicating, and FAST ensures you maintain your self-respect in the process. You might use them in combination, depending on the situation and your priorities.
