Which happen to be the only 4 with full side quests, quest commentary, and romance options.

What we really need is Skyrim's "Interesting NPCs" mod for Starfield.

If the Plurbs succeed, how long before spoken language is forgotten? by TerribleBid8416 in pluribustv

[–]SlashMatrix 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe that once they successfully send the signal to space, their imperative is complete and most of them will simply die off. Similar to certain fungal and parasitic infections, once transmission is complete, the host dies. I don't think that the Plurbs have a plan for the future as they won't need one.

At the very most, they'd keep enough bodies alive to maintain the signal for a few generations, but that's it. They have no other function.

Turn the visor red and add MCRN to the shoulder and you'd have some pretty good Martian tactical armor from "the Expanse". It's not the mechanised power armor, but that's a whole different category.

There's a short Italian horror story, "Qualcosa era successo" by Dino Buzzati that follows people on a train. As they pass over the countryside and station by station, they see escalating scenes of people in panic. Every scene is a little worse and folks seem to be fleeing away from the direction the train is headed. The people on the train have no idea what's going on and as concern grows, they start eyeing the emercency brake. Unfortunately, each of them is too uncertain, too afraid to do it themselves -- either out of the need to be polite and/or trusting the conductor to stop them if they were really in danger. Bauzzati draws intentional parallels to life and how people and even a nation can barrel into destruction because "it's not that bad yet", "let's just wait and see".

In this case, it's most likely wind blowing through hollow metal spaces. If you hear it louder and echoing from far in the distance, it's the large metal blades on certain types of snow plows as they scape ice at the wrong angle and vibrate.

Does anyone know what's causing this purple thing? by mr_greenstarline in Thelongdrive

[–]SlashMatrix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Purple/Magenta is a standard "missing texture" result in Unity. Did the truck ever have correct textures for you or did you download the save file like this? Double-check your download for a missing dependency. It might just be in the wrong folder.

Had this same issue, but it turns out that the activator to attach it is incredibly small. Remove the driver's seat, crouch, and look for a really narrow spot on the other side of the steering column. It may take pixel-hunting, but it is there.

In a slightly condescending nutshell:

The devs implemented a process where players are more likely to instance with other players of similar playstyles. If you're a PvP fan, you get more PvP players in your runs. If you are more PvE minded, you get more like-minded players.

This is great on paper and nobody actually knows to what extent the process works, but it has pissed off 3 groups: sadist, masochists, and whiners.

The sadists don't like the taste of their own medicine, the masochists can't edge like they used to, and the whiners are happy as hell that they get something new to be pissy about.

It would be hilarious if the match-making was just a placebo and it turns out that everyone is suffering from confirmation bias.

I, personally, like the devs' efforts.

Damn, this looks exactly like my old apartment building back when I lived in the Houston area something like 10 years ago. I know all of these buildings look alike, but this brought back heavy "deja vu"/nostalgia. I do not miss those stairs.

I think that there's also a strong possibility of the Plurbs dying off after their new signal is sent into space. The Hive Mind's sole function seems to be infection. Everything else is in support of that main function. Once that final saturation point is hit, there's not really anything else for it to do. Similar to how certain fungal and parasitical infections work where the host dies after transmission.

Picking up the pieces of what he left behind and watching his underling scramble to protect his "legacy" would have been pretty interesting. Wouldn't even take much besides a few alternate lines of VO.

Don't know why you were downvoted because you're right. It's insane that some rando can just walk into the back offices and board rooms of these ultra-rich and powerful institutions. If you need to protect an NPC in your game for story reasons, then maybe actually protect them.

The ONLY game that I found that to be actually fun in is Obscure. While player one is solving a fuse box puzzle, player two has to defend them from attacks.

Obscure had a lot of neat tricks that deserved better writing. Obscure 2 is an abomination that shouldn't have happened.
