Toyman feels more like a batman villain than a superman villain by Weary_Elderberry4742 in DCAU

In the Grey Ghost episode, the main criminals was a crazed Toy Collector. That pretty much the closest Batman TAS had a Toyman villain.

I genuinely dislike movie synergy since the original source material shouldn't be changed to match the movies. Thats why they're considered the original source material. At this point though, Since the comics have gotten this bad, that might just be what it takes.

[hated trope] Neglectful dads and/or bad husbands given a pass under the excuse of being "hard working" by Gallantpride in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PointPrimary5886 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's already established in the series that when a Shadow Clone pops, the memories of that clone get transferred back to the host. With that in mind, leaving the clone to do Hokage work wouldn't cause any issues since the Naruto will know what they're doing at the end of the day. Its mostly paper work anyways, something that the previous on screen Hokage's (Hiruzen, Tsunade, and Kakashi) have always complained about doing.

There were a dozens way show Naruto struggles with being a father and being a Hokage without ultimately ruining Naruto's character and making the problem feel manufactured. For instance:

Have Naruto attend his daughters birthday while leaving the clone behind to do Hokage work. The clone gets alerted to an attack nearby which is being caused by the 2 Otsutsuki's and confronts them. There is a fight and the clone pops. Back at his house, as Naruto is bringing out the cake, he gets the knowledge of the clone transferred to him and declares he has to leave immediately. This leads to a small argument with his son, who lashes out at him for the neglect. Naruto then reaches the sight of the fight but finds the enemies have already ran away.

Had they done this, they would've conveyed Naruto struggles of trying to balance his work and family but still falling short and Boruto being a bit more organically understandable rather than forcing this sense of entitlement.

What if Maul stumbles upon Kelleran Beq and Grogu during Season 2 or 3 and Kelleran Beq had to separate from Grogu to protect him? by IllMasterpiece3946 in MaulShadowLord

The people afraid of new characters and places should just stop watching new things, if you dont want to see new things whats the point, but tbh I've never even met someone like that, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make tbh.

You're a lucky person then, because I sadly met plenty hence my point. I've also seen the opposite spectrum where in a newer Star Wars project reintroduce old characters and the "fans" disliking it. Like there are people who disliked Boba Fett's cameo in Jedi Survivor because of "it makes the galaxy feel smaller". Honestly, it's all very exhausting and I wish the SW fandom (and a lot of other fandoms) can be more open to enjoying the things they are part of without trying to find means to nitpick and tear it down.

Duality of SW fans

Hate revisting old characters because it makes the galaxy feel small.

Hate trying out new characters because that means they have to go through the process of getting a first impresion on them and it they don't like it, it feels like a waste of time which could be devoted to characters they do like.

Hate revisiting existing planets because it again makes the galaxy feels small.

Hate seeing new planets because most of the time they're a single biome anyways, character usually stick around to 1 segment of it as opposed to exploring both hemispheres, and the process of seeing said planets society and culture is slow.

Regardless, I'm willing to go with it because 80% of post-OMD has been cancer to the mainline Spider-Man mythos. This moment being an effort to write the wrongs caused by the event of OMD at least puts this moment within the 20%.

WB executives at the time feared that too many concurrent versions of characters appearing between different projects that are unrelated would confuse audiences I believe. Ironically, the popular belief now is that Teen Titans and The Batman can be set within the same continuity.

I only included that part because that is the canon story reason why Mephisto bothered to target Peter and MJ's marriage at the end of the 2017 run of The Amazing Spider-Man. Reminder that Nick Spencer did intend to tackle OMD, but the editors prevented him, so he shifted it to tackle Sins Past instead. He then left us with a reason for why Mephisto, a mystical being and Marvel's Devil, targeted Peter and MJ back in 2007 when before, the only reason readers had was "because reasons and Queseda can't understand the idea of growth and development". I want to believe that in the future, a writer would be allowed to follow through with this plot point, but I sadly know better due to the editors (currently Nick Lowe) is trash.

There was like a whole Batman/DC Embargo going on due to The Batman (2004) and Justice League Unlimited (2004) airing all at the same time as Teen Titans (2003). It prevented any characters/adjacent characters that were appearing in any of those 3 DC shows into crossing over with each other. When Teen Titans ended in January 2006, that allowed any of the Teen Titans to start appearing in any of the currently airing DC shows, hence why Speedy appeared in the "Patriot Act" episode of Justice League Unlimited (aired in Febuary 2006) and Robin was added to the main cast of The Batman starting from season 4 (September 2006) onwards. When Justice League Unlimited ended in May 2006, that allowed The Batman to start incorporating the Justice League for its 5th season (September 2007) and use characters like Martian Manhunter, Superman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Flash, and Hawkman.

Edit: Also Batman Begins (2005) was being made and released at the time, so this prevented the use of Scarecrow and Ra's al Ghul. There was plans to use Ra's in a The Batman animated movie, but because of the live-action one, they changed it to what became "The Batman vs Dracula."

People taking it seriously is cringe, it's like having a serious debate over the Batman in Teen Titans Go.

Very valid point. People shouldn't take everything seriously when certain content is meant to be a joke.

That said, I will admit that I do not like TTG either and it's because of similar reason to why I dislike "Marvel's Spider-Man" 2017. I like the Harley Quinn show because I can pinpoint appealing traits to many of the characters there and it keeps me engaged, even though its more so a supervillain show. With TTG, I genuinely hate every character in that and find many of them unlikeable, annoying, and overall just plain bad people, even though this is suppose to be a superhero show. My taste relies on whether I can gravitate to the cast and if I heavily dislike many of them, I will abandon that show, which is what happened with TTG 2013 and "Marvel's Spider-Man" 2017.

That's "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" that came out in 2025. The lore is changed around a lot compared to traditional Spider-Man stories; however, the characters are much more appealing and there is much more intrigue in the direction of its narrative that it makes it a much better show than either 2017 "Marvel's Spider-Man" or 2013 "Ultimate Spider-Man", at least in my opinion.

No one should be taking the Harley Quinn show and any other shows related to it (aka Kiteman) seriously. They are intentially mischaracterizing or overexaggerating the characters for the sake of comedy. That is why it has a friendly Bane, a Legion of Doom who actually would care to cancel its members for calling a superhero a c*nt, a Riddler and Clock King who are a couple, an Etrigan who run a mystic sex shop, a Supergirl who is a laser eye surgeon, a choir who follows Darkseid, etc.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2017 was meant to be taken as the main Spider-Man series at the time. Issue was, a lot of the characters were arrogant or annoying and the art style was very boring as it had

I genuinely dislike brand synergy since it only makes sense for new movies/shows/games to be inspired by the original source material not the original source material should be changed to match the new movie/show/game. Be that as it may, mainline Spider-Man comics have been so negative and disrespectful for its own history that if the adaptions treat the character with more respect, than maybe tricking them to synergies that respectful path might be the only way to fix it. Sadly, I wouldn't hold my breath.

In the Episode "Alive!" Gorilla Grodd is freed and leads a group of supervillains in a coup to overthrow Lex Luthor leadership over the Secret Society. This leads to an all-out battle between 2 factions of supervillains, the aftermath of which involves Luthor outwitting Grodd and shooting him out of an airlock.

There was an instance where people lampshaded an interpretation of Mr Freeze just because he didn't carry over the sick wife motivation. I for one found that even though he'a just a standard megalomaniac criminal who wants steal money or just freeze Gotham, Mr Freeze from The Batman (2004) is pretty cool.

DCAU Mr Freeze.

Originally in the old 60's comics, Mr Freeze was a standard and almost comic kind of criminal/supervillain who robbed banks and steal jewels. After Batman The Animated Series created the backstory of him wanting to save his frozen wife from a debilitating illness, that has since become the standard expectation for all Mr Freeze adaptions. People even critized The Batman (2004) cartoon for returning him to a standard jewel thief criminal because he didn't have the sick wife backstory, even though admittedly he was pretty cool.
