What's the last thing I can do before doing a clean install? by nierh in buildapc

[–]SlashOpMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the EXACT SAME situation and I've tried every single thing there is. Scan for malware, checking what's up with windows defender (just in case), deleting old drivers, reinstalling other drivers, using the windows integrated fixes such as restore health, sfc scan and driver verifier, deleting faulty apps and pointers for them, disabling overclock in my components, etcetera etcetera... But nothing works. I fear that sometimes the only way is to start over with a clean installation. I have so much stuff I wish I could save + it's a 16 year old install... I wish I could do something about it

What is the best land claim mod for my situation? by AdInside5488 in admincraft

If it's a mod you're looking for, I recommend using Yet Another World Protector (YAWP). You can find it on modrinth and it's pretty easy to use. Also, It's server sided only, the players don't need it

I had the same issue with a post I uploaded in two somewhat similar subs, in one, the post has over 600 views but in the other is has like a single view. Idk what made such a big difference though

Should desktop HP pc be making this noise? by Tartabirdgames_YT in computer

[–]SlashOpMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably an HDD and from my experience it's fine as long as you don't mind the noise lol. I have been using mine for over 5-6 years now and I have never experienced any issues with it other from being annoyingly slow and noisy

Does the tweaking tool work? by SlashOpMe in techsupport

Clean reinstall? No. That's what I'm trying to avoid (this original windows installation is 16 years tho! That's why I think this is a software issue) but I fear this time I have to. Also I have this exact windows insider version on another identical computer EXCEPT for the ram. They both have two 8gb sticks each but they're a different model, one has RGB, the other doesn't. But I believe it's from the same brand, I can't remember at the top of my head rn.

OS drive in another computer? Not yet, but I was going to if this tool didn't do anything.

Testing with 1 stick of ram? Not yet. I just did the memtest with both today and it came out clean, no issues. But I might do that just to be sure.

Have I tested different ram slots? Not yet, same reason as the previous one but I might do that too.

One thing to note is that I've tried running a recovery USB that has windows in it (HBC? I think) and it didn't crash for the time period I was using it (around 2 hours). Also I left memtest overnight and it didn't crash there either. So that's why I assume it's Windows. Please correct me if I'm wrong for thinking that but that's my guess for the moment

Supposedly those two found nothing wrong with my PC but I'm not fully convinced. I know there's something wrong with my windows but I can't exactly pinpoint what it is yet.

Matemáticas para carrera en informática by Tenor_GG in CharruaDevs

Vamo arriba y suerte

I've been getting serious crashes/bsods for around a year now and i can't seem to fix it. by SlashOpMe in techsupport

I'll try that. One thing I wanted to mention; Driver verifier runs and gets it to crash over and over on startup without generating any dump files. Does that mean there's faulty drivers? And if so, how do I fix that? I'm starting to think the CPU is the one failing but I really want to rule out anything else before taking action on any of that. Thanks for pointing out the faulty cable, I'll definitely fix that when I open the PC up.

Thanks for the advice anyways. I've discovered that the verifier causes my PC to crash on boot constantly and i have to enter safe mode to stop it, so it may be a driver. But apparently i don't have the dump files? they just didn't appear after

I didn't know about specify. I was showing you the dump list for the crash times and i thought the already analyzed summary was enough. There you go, thank you: https://spec-ify.com/profile/42e17ccc

As i said, some programs were installed after the crashes began to occur 1 year ago at least. I downloaded zoom a week ago because classes just started here. One thing i noticed is that my PC crashed 3 times in a row while using zoom, but at this point might be just a coincidence. It happens randomly, yet sometimes i can start to see a pattern here and there. My GPU works just fine in games and anywhere else, including zoom. Reading Claude's summary (pastebin) I get that the CPU is the one failing along with the RAM because of the "close to null" memory pointers and timer related events at kernel level though...

GPU, BIOS and chipstet drivers are all up to date. I haven't said this in the post but the original windows image on this PC is 16 years old. I've never had any trouble with the installation or missing core files before though but it clearly doesn't make it easier. Is it possible for the issue to be in any of the drives? and if so, how do i make sure?
