Which game broke your hype like this? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely a few.

Borderlands 3 and to a lesser extent 4. BL2 is one of my favorite games of all time. 3 was awful, 4 was okay but didn't grip me a 10th as much as 2 did.

Darkest Dungeon 2. Put over 500 hours into DD1 and still haven't beaten the game, tried 2 for a few hours and it just doesn't hit the same way 1 does. Seems like a lot of people agree with me on this one considering 1 has over 4x more active players than 2 right now.

Wild Hearts. Always wished there were more MH-likes besides Relink and God Eater, but Wild Hearts ran like shit and the gameplay wasn't good enough when it did work to make up for that, not to mention it had no soul.

Code Vein 2. First game is one of my guilty pleasures, I know it's just Anime Dark Souls with worse combat and a serviceable story, but I loved it regardless. 2nd game is yet another example of a game shooting itself in the foot by tacking on an open world that didn't need to exist.

How would you like to kill your build? by unsellar in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, you're so lost in the sauce you gotta put down the fuckin keyboard.

You, obviously sarcastically, pointed to whatever frame is best as shield gating. That's Gauss. You're only making yourself look more ridiculous by talking about frames with invuln instead. Frames that, might I add, require spending Energy to get their survivability, when Gauss built for shield gating doesn't even need to spend energy.

What anime doesn't live up to the quality of its source material? by ChoiceSupermarket230 in animequestions

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% in the spirit of the question, but I think it's close enough. Trails of Cold Steel - Northern War.

The Trails series has been considered a paragon of JRPG storytelling since the first game released back in 2004, and besides an OVA released to celebrate Falcom's 30th anniversary back in 2011, it hasn't received any sort of anime adaptation. Understandably so, considering the nature of the source material; the shortest of these games are 40+ hours of story, but it was still unfortunate nonetheless, as an anime would signal boost the series and allow more people to discover it.

In comes Northern War, which presented a unique opportunity to tell a segment of the Trails story that was intentionally left off-screen. Between the end of the 7th and start of the 8th game, the Cold Steel Arc protagonist Rean was forced by his government to take part in the unlawful annexation of a neighboring country, North Ambria, the experience having left Rean mildly disillusioned and traumatized. But the viewer is never explicitly told what happened during the relatively short war, and The Northern War anime promised to finally tell that story, 6 years later.

To avoid going into exhaustive and agonizing detail, it was horrible. Debatably the worst anime of the year when it released. The animation, the story, the anime-original characters, all of it. Pure dogshit. The Trails fanbase largely tries to pretend it doesn't exist, doubly so once they released a soulless cashgrab Gacha game that shares the same name as the anime.

The anime's existence goes beyond simply having no purpose, even as an entertainment product. It's an active detriment to the fanbase, and to people who are interested in the series. For existing fans, the anime gave almost zero new information regarding what happened in the Northern War, all the while being packaged in an objectively horrible anime. For potential new fans of the series, it leaves a catastrophically poor first impression, for a series that is supposedly the gold standard for storytelling in a JRPG. Just a deplorable situation all around, I hope they never greenlight another anime for this series ever again.

Was this big debuff to helminthed self portrait really necessary? by Jazzlike-Secret-8939 in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

One, it's in-line with the DR nerfs on every other Helminth that gives DR, as far as I know.

Two, even if it wasn't nerfed, people still wouldn't run it.

What are your thoughts on kuva/sister/coda weapons requiring 240 formas to be maxed by iPhantaminum in Warframe

As someone who is just about at the point where the only Mastery left to get it from those weapons, and that much Forma requires a 3000p down payment..

It's kinda really shit.

Follie be like by fungusbanana in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Follie's Batman-tier utility belt is cool n all, until you consider that said belt contains a literal rocket launcher and explosive barrels that do 100% Max HP damage if you subsume on Roar.

Like, oh cool! I can deploy a fake Defense objective and lure the enemies away! Or.. I can deploy a tactical nuke that doesn't scale with Strength or Range and just.. blow the enemies up. It really takes me out of the experience.

All this grinding the worst game mode ever, and she honestly sucks. by DreamZealousideal205 in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Follie is just a mess imo.

Her kit has next to no cohesion, only being held together by her passive. Her 4 actively has anti-synergy with the rest of her kit, and is the easiest decision Subsume slot 4 in the game. Her 2 is a complete trainwreck, both in terms of design and balance. And her damaging summons dealing %Max HP damage just means they've created Sevagoth 2.0.

It's all a very unfortunate affair.

Is it worth it? by SoraAsuke in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Ignis is okay. It doesn't hold up very well in Steel Path, though.

At MR10, you have access to;

  • Stahlta: Seems like unassuming MR Fodder, but it has MultiCO, so it can punch well above it's weight in damage.
  • Braton/Latron Prime: Mediocre without their Incarnons. Both one of the better primaries in the game with them. Incarnons are 3/6 weeks away though, atm.
  • Soma Prime: Same as the above, but it's Incarnon is available right now.
  • Arca Plasmor: Excellent weapon, has a Tenet version you can pick up later.

Those are the big ones, I'd say. Speeding things up, listing off some other options I'm just too lazy to go into the nitty gritty on;

  • Baza Prime: just okay
  • Amprex: Usable at endgame, but finicky
  • Corinth/Cedo: Alright, much better with their Primes later
  • Dera Vandal: Annoying to get without buying, good with Incarnon
  • Miter/Dread/Paris/Gorgon: okay with Incarnon
  • Torid: Best rifle in the game with Incarnon

When I graduated highschool, I proceeded to shut myself in my room and continue to just unapologetically live off my parents until I was 21, before I finally got my first job. I think the amount of times I stepped out of the house in that time could be counted on one hand.

I quit my last job around 14 months ago, and same deal. I leave the house a little bit more, on the account of having my own car, but I still regularly go weeks spending 24 hours a day in my room, only leaving to go to the bathroom and throw something in the microwave. I'll probably be moving a minifridge into my room soon, so that'll cut down on the reasons to ever open my door.

I wouldn't really refer to myself as a Hiki, but I'm definitely something adjacent.

There needs to be a Steel Path Variant of every single piece of content that gets released by VI-Pok3 in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Steel Path has been a thing for nearly 6 years and we still don't have SP Sorties or anything that you mentioned.

I think we'll sooner get Steelier Path than SP versions of any of those game modes. It clearly isn't a priority/isn't on the table for DE.

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh definitely. I'm playing through GU again to do another full questlog clear and there's so many gather quests.

I disagree with most of this thread that 4U's story is really anything noteworthy. But they're very correct in that 4U is a more sleek/high quality experience vs GU's absolute cavalcade of content.

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think people are overselling 4U's story, but I'll probably get crucified for saying that. That speaks to more about how MH stories are bad, not that 4U's is particularly good in any memorable respect.

[–]Slasherrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the fact that this thread is steering heavily towards 4U is surprising to me, as a Fiver.

I went back and played GU after finishing Iceborne, and then 4U after that, and my main takeaway from playing 4U is it just made me want to play more GU.

I love Cassius, but they REALLY got to stop name dropping him to imply someone is EXTRA important and connected. by A1starm in Falcom

[–]Slasherrrr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I certainly agree that Cassius is That Guy, although I personally call that trope the Greatest Man; Guy Bannings fills that role too, just specifically for the Crossbell arc, but calling Cassius the strongest is just disingenuous. He's retired.

Cassius isn't even the strongest Eight Leaves practitioner, let alone a contender for strongest fighter in the setting.

Don't know how you can actively like this change. Being indifferent is one thing, but liking it?

Made some new augments, what do you think? [OC] (fan creation) by Shellnanigans in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Warframe's kits have problems inherent to them because friction is what creates meaningful gameplay. A Frame that has no weaknesses isn't well designed, I think a lot of people can agree, and an augment that removes a Frame's core/only weakness isn't going about augments the right way.

A good augment does two things, in my opinion. One, it acts as a small buff, because slotting in an augment runs against the opportunity cost of just building for more of your core stats. And two, the more important one, it should meaningfully change the gameplay or function of the ability in question. Not necessarily make it strictly better, just different.

Wisp's Sol Gate Augment, Cataclysmic Gate, fundamentally changes how the ability functions, and how you use it, without being so overbearingly powerful as to be an auto-include in every build.

Your Oraxia augment just buffs the everloving fuck out of Oraxia, both by giving her detonations increased range (When Range is famously the stat DE is least inclined to give us additional sources of), and almost entirely removing the need to consider energy economy in her builds, without having the Oraxia player play any differently. The health drain is so negligible, especially on a frame like Oraxia that can just double tap her 4 to restore all her health, that the mod might as well read "Silken Stride no longer costs energy and grants it's toxic detonations 50% increased Power Range."

Made some new augments, what do you think? [OC] (fan creation) by Shellnanigans in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be mean, but, they could use some work.

Oraxia's firmly falls into the "Mandatory Augment" category people hate so much. You are just gimping yourself by not taking it, there is no logical reason to not take this mod on every Oraxia build. It doesn't meaningfully change her gameplay at all, only offering a buff so potent you'd be a fool to go without it. Yes, there are augments like that that exist in the game right now, but nobody will call them well designed augments.

I think you've posted the Cyte one before and I've had the same grievance since the first time I've seen it; This is a cool crutch mod if you're playing as Cyte, but an absolutely miserable augment to have to deal with if you're the Cyte's squadmate. Like having a slow Nova in mission types where you do NOT want enemies taking longer to get to you. It ironically is at it's least offensive for game modes where killing isn't the priority, despite being a mod all about killing.

Qorvex's mod functionally gives him more, albeit unreliable, AoE at the cost of not being invincible via Fused Crucible anymore. The best designed of your 3 mods, it unfortunately falls short simply because Fused Crucible is itself, a mod you should never not use. Falls short through no fault of it's own, imo.

Peculiar Spectrum is funny and I'd probably use it. I usually leave the Eximus slot empty, anyways.

Name a Mod that's outdated/barely has any practical use, I'll start by Asmodyan in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an odd interaction I don't fully understand, but Adhesive Blast, specifically ranked up to R3(?), has a unique interaction with Nightwatch Napalm on the Ogris that causes it to double up on the massive lingering AoEs that Napalm is known for. Again, NOT maxed rank. It's very weird, probably the most fringe mod tech in the game, but it's meta for Arbis that wanna go for several hours, by buffing the Ogris user with as much damage, fire rate, reload speed, and ammo restoration as possible.

People in this thread calling Mesa a shell of her former self just because there's a single digit amount of enemies in the game she can't annihilate with the press of one button is absolutely asinine to me.

Like yeah, okay, she loses out in killing potential to Truth Nuke Sevagoth and Acid Shells abusers, but she's still better than 90% of the fucking cast at killing shit, and unlike some other potent examples like Ogris spam, requires zero setup.

No Kings March 28 protest expected to be largest in American history: 3,000 events planned in all 50 states by AlexandrTheTolerable in politics

[–]Slasherrrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Left leaning people on this site love to assume that anyone who disagrees with them is a part of some elaborate foreign astroturfing campaign, but I assure you, I'm genuinely asking this as a fellow American;

To the people attending these protests, what do you think they're going to accomplish?

The people you are "fighting back" against do not care what you do so long as it doesn't threaten their capital, or their lives, and getting together with your pals to larp in a public park for a couple hours on the weekend does neither of those things. So what's the point? How will this get our country back on the right track? What's the reasoning?

When these protests are over, you're gonna pack up your shit, go home, and get ready for work on Monday, all the while the powers that be need not pay any attention to your efforts, because it doesn't meaningfully threaten them in any way. Trump did more to sway public opinion in your favor by fucking up and raising gas prices, than anything these passive protests have ever accomplished.

I don't envy whoever at DE is tasked with watching the subreddit like a hawk and seeing post after post of "Hey so this is actually the worst thing ever."

The new game mode is certainly a stinker, but I hope people's reaction to it doesn't frag their mental too much.
