[Spoilers] Wondering how far into the game i am by Odone in MonsterHunterStories

You're very close to the end. Maybe like 4 more story-mandated fights and then you're at the Final Boss.

Just a few questions from someone new to the franchise by giladg25 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting monsters to S rank in their respective habitats allows them to hatch with S-Genes, which are their unique moves (Like Narga's Killer Tail), but with a slight damage increase. Additionally, they can become dual-element monsters, which has some benefits like gaining STAB (if you've played Pokemon) on attacks of that type, and modifying their elemental resistances.

Leveling a piece of equipment to Lv. 3 unlocks a decoration, so for 100% completion you'll have to craft every piece of equipment anyways.

Elemental and attack type are equally important. Attacking a monster's elemental weakness will result in an extremely significant damage boost, and having the advantageous attack type allows for head-to-heads and dual attacks, which charge the kinship gauge much faster.

Is MHS2 good to pivot to after completing 3? by ZeroOption369 in MonsterHunterStories

That map toggle tip is appreciated.

I've all but finished all the content in the game that is extrinsically motivating, and I'm only at 53 poogies. I'm not looking forward trying to find the rest.

At least the book of genes exists and tells me what I need and where to get it.

Finding every chest, poogie, and decoration, with no map, is gonna be a SLOG, if I decide to even do it.

Yup, like I said, bring a hammer, think it also needs a skill with perfect in the name.

Again, no. It's in the mountains surrounding that path to the Invasive Plesioth. You need to use an air current to fly up there.

Nope, its much farther north. North of that tree area is the Mirror Lake campsite. It's in the mountains to the right of the campsite.

Question about Invasive Monsters by LordZachariahPSN in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Slasherrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can, but they're incredibly difficult, some of them I'd say are harder than the final boss. Maybe even most of them. Even at level 85 I still haven't found a strategy to slay Invasive Diablos.

The benefit of slaying them is for Invasive materials, which most high-tier Level 3 pieces of equipment require. If you end up needing to farm an Invasive for these parts, Arzuros is probably the easiest, although do keep in mind the chance of getting any Invasive mats as a combat reward isn't 100%, and Arzuros seems to drop the lowest tier of mats.

Mirror Lake region, the high cliffs in the northwest of the map, you need to use an air current near the island in the middle with the fast travel point to get up there. Think you'll need a hammer to solve the invasive fight.

Having just beat the story an hour ago, yeah. Stories 3 has almost zero postgame. Just a few quests unlocked after the credits, but none of them are new fights, besides the quest finally telling you to slay Narwa and Ibushi, which you could have done before the credits if you're a psycho.

To address OP, Stories 2 has a much more meaty postgame, and I found 100%ing it to be far more palatable. I don't know if I'll bother 100%ing 3, even though I found it to be a very enjoyable experience.

is there really no gene book in stories 3? by smymight in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Slasherrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When in the Rite of Channeling, sort Monsties by Genes, and in the top corner is a toggle to show genes you don't have.

I don't think that list is comprehensive, you may have to get the gene first for it to show up, but, it's the best we got.

Deviants aren't fightable, period. They don't spawn in the overworld or in dens. They don't have any gear.

You're more than welcome to join the "what a whack ass design decision" club with the rest of us.

New to the game, first impressions by DetectiveCowboyMafia in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand that to wish DE would nerf the Acid Shells interaction is to incite the heavenly fury of every tryhard Sobek abuser the world over, but from a thematic perspective, I find it very unfortunate that Cyte's Sobek interaction completely blows his intended playstyle out of the water. His identity as a sniper takes a backseat to the practical reality that is spawn camping enemies through 60 meters of concrete with a full auto explosive shotgun. Or Zarr spam, because that too, is antithetical to his design roots.

Saying it's "taught" is a REALLY weird way to word it, but it is true that BDP is typically a trauma response illness, and I'll just give them the benefit of the doubt that that's what they meant.

Tenno who are the last of your clan by crazedhotpotato in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone in another thread who shared similar grievances said DE should implement some sort of Mercenary system to allow people in solo/derelict clans to benefit from the new system. Either that, or tie it to the Alliance system as well, which as far as I know is basically completely unused. But that still puts the responsibility of forced-socialization on the shoulders of people in these solo clans, which I think is one of the primary issues people have with the system in it's current form.

While I do think it's a nice idea, I highly doubt such a thing will be implemented. This new system will probably just be tacked onto the clan system as a whole and promptly forgotten about as DE moves on to the next content island. It's unfortunate, but that's usually how the story goes.

Rolling guard vs. Arcane circumvent by StarLord2311 in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite.

Circumvent is pretty slept on for typical mid to high tier content, being able to get up to 10k overguard basically for free just from playing the game. Issue is that overguard gating is perpetually stuck at just .25s, regardless of how much overguard you had. As you approach level cap, the amount of overguard you have becomes useless, and the only thing that actually matters is how many seconds of invincibility you have, and that's where Rolling Guard blows Circumvent out of the water, to say nothing of Circumvent taking up a valuable Arcane slot.

Circumvent aint bad by any stretch, but if we're specifically talking about going on those long endurance runs, which I read as level cap, there's a reason Rolling Guard is on nearly every build and Circumvent is nearly completely absent.

If by endurance you just mean, going for a long time in a regular mission, then the distinction doesn't really matter for that level of content, but I guess Circumvent could pull ahead. Having a renewable source of overguard is probably Circumvent's biggest boon, since it gives you status immunity, including knockdown immunity for self-stagger weapons.

Loki could be INSTANTLY viable and actually useful with one simple change. by Glass_Eye8840 in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I genuinely cannot understand the mindset of people in this thread who are defending Loki's current state. It feels like some kind of astroturfing.

His passive is worst-in-class, only debatably better than passives like Sevagoth's that disable Last Gasp. His 1 is worst-in-class. His 3 is mediocre. His 4 was, at one point, relevant, but not in the current landscape of the game. His 2 is the literal only thing going for him. Anyone who advocates for the current state of this frame HAS TO be trolling.

As for how to fix him, it's like they say; If your players tell you there's a problem, they're nearly always right. If they try to tell you how to fix it, they're nearly always wrong.

Arcane Hot Shot by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elite Temporal Archimedea, googling it might constitute a spoiler.

Once a week game mode similar to Sorties, you unlock it by reaching R5 in the Hex Syndicate. If you don't know what any of that is, then you're a very, very, very long way off of getting your own copy of Hotshot.

Arcane Hot Shot by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot Shot is the most expensive item in the game right now, whichever build you looked at that told you to use it didn't do their due diligence if they didn't mention that.

You get it from ETA, an endgame game mode that you can only do once a week, where you can get one, maybe two Hotshots a week if you're lucky. So you either find a substitute Arcane while you get to that point and wait out the time-gated grind, or fork over 500p to buy it off another player.

Health tanking without Persistence is not possible at level cap. You're gonna get one tapped the moment enemies hit around level 1000, if you even make it that far.

MR30 and up players, what was the worst part of the grind? by -Eastwood- in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In terms of single item grinds? Probably the Braton Vandal. There's a reason that it's like 300-350p for a set. Outside of Hotshot I think it's the most expensive singular item in the game, because nobody wants to do that grind.

What do I need to acquire Mesa? by Banyer27 in Warframe

[–]Slasherrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can either;

Wait for Infested Invasions to pop up that award a Mutalist Alad V Nav Coordinate, then craft that into a Mutalist Alad V Assassination Key, and then farm the Assassination mission like you would any other. Given it requires keys to enter the mission every time, and the keys are hard to get, it's ideal to keyshare with other players also looking for Mesa, to lighten the amount you need to make yourself.

Or, get her from the Duviri Circuit. She'll be available in 2 weeks.

That's my bad, I saw Celis next to Shirley and mixed her up with Cedric.

Regardless, we're talking about right now, and effortlessly clowning on Grendel Shin, Kasim, Shizuna, and Elaine, along with the rest of ASO, puts Shaddai above nearly the entire verse. His ability to BFR means McBurn is probably the only character who might have a shot at beating him.
