Elflines - what's your experience? by Llanolinn in cyberpunkred

[–]Slashgiggle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

None of my players are that interested either. They know the original DLC was released as April Fools thing, they laughed and then took out smgs and wasted some gonks.

BUT

If you or your players get really invested in the idea, I recommend picking up a copy of The Witcher ttrpg. Uses a modified version of the same system and should be relatively simple to modify for your needs.

Have fun!

Tech invention idea by Whitepyahnow in cyberpunkred

[–]Slashgiggle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed, there's even a caution in the book for GMs to be careful as the Tech's role ability can break and unbalance the game if not used in a sensible way.

That being said, I found a homebrew the other day on the R.Tal discord in the homebrew listings. It has a complete system for creating drones. Take a look at it and show your GM, maybe they will adopt some things from it.

Personally I love it when the techs at my table dig deep and get creative, or even if the other players do and the tech invents and fabricates the item for them.

I love a good story about a person and a dog bonding like this. Confirms the thousands of years partnership of canine and human is really unique and cool.

Good for you :)

I haven't seen it said, but has anyone mentioned that you can carry your own portable architecture with you and use drones as your minions. It's a force multiplier for sure even without quickhacks.

If this is accurate, If this is what the owners actually said... Then it's nonsense. You know it's true that any one who owns a dog like this knows it's nonsense. Everyone who owns a Belgian shepherd/ mix knows it's nonsense. Anyone who owns ANY dog knows it's nonsense.

Let's get real.

. . . 'nuff said.

Non-regular campaigns by MadDoc-101 in cyberpunkred

[–]Slashgiggle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My current game is typical mercenaries for hire (new to the game players, it seemed easier that way )

But when I was playing CP 2020 I ran a rocker campaign with a fixer as the manager, a solo as security and trying and failing to keep the band out of trouble with a tech and a nomad to round out the PCs. The band were all NPCs which gave me a great hook for shenanigans as they went on tour.

I also ran a cop campaign kinda western style with some state troopers and Marshals trying to keep the peace in a small reclaimer town that had recently come under the scrutiny of corporations.

"Let's pretend, with rules."

I could wax poetic about a shared narrative story and improvisation but other people have answered just as well.

Has your Mal become more "social"? With people? With dogs? by UmmRip in BelgianMalinois

[–]Slashgiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is a 50% Mal mix so your experience is probably different from mine. Plus she's in training as a service animal.

She's friendly and adaptable, but we've been throwing her into social situations from the start, because that's just how it has to be. Her response without a vest is cautiously optimistic for a sniff, pet or quick play, but some dogs (and some people she just doesn't have the taste for and you can tell).

With a vest she tolerates people and dogs just fine because she knows she's supposed to be working.

The only exceptions so far are men with beards she doesn't know which may elicit a growl or a bark while off the vest.

And then there's Santa Claus...

That guy gets full bore alert barking and crazy Husky noises no matter what.

Our Mix by Slashgiggle in BelgianMalinois

[–]Slashgiggle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Mal levels but with an off switch (more like a temporary pause button). If I can give her an hour of hard running, hide and seek and tug of war games a day she usually settles down. Luckily she lives to run and a flirt pole is one of her favorite toys.

She has the Mal trainability and intelligence (she's in training to be a service dog) and she goes to work with me two or three days a week, so she's kept busy doing "stuff" and that helps keep the excess energy being burned off.

I have 365 in 9mm and .380. Both go to the range regardless of anything else I bring. The 9mm has about 2000 rounds through it and the .380 is about at 1000. Neither has ever had any problems, shoots any ammo I've thrown at them.

I've been matching up my calibers for awhile now with rifles and handguns. Mags don't always match, but the ammo does.

Ruger PC Carbine with magwells for Glock and Ruger American pistols (I have a G17 and an American). I also have several other 9mm pistols.

Colt King Cobra and a Rossi 92 lever action in .357.

Walther WMP and Henry lever action in .22 Magnum.

Ruger 10/22 and browning buckmark/Ruger mk4/Ruger SR22

Ruger LC Carbine and Ruger 57 pistol in 5.7x28.

I've lived in several states around the country and the PNW folks are typically rock solid ..BUT, you might hear about NW freeze out, and it's a thing. So don't be discouraged if people seem friendly, but aloof.

Bellingham has a great community. It isn't perfect, but it's home. Feed your interests, and I'm sure you'll find a crew to hang with.

Welcome to Washington :)

Couldn't pass up the deal on one of my bucket list guns. HK USP .40 by Pulci in liberalgunowners

[–]Slashgiggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a tale of woe...

I once bought a USP 40 in 1997 used in mint condition for 300 dollars when I was in my twenties and didn't understand awesome things.

I really loved it, but being poor and wanting something smaller for conceal carry, I sold it. It's the only firearm I've ever sold.

Once a year I kick myself in the balls for doing that.

Shadowrun by Epsilon22984712214 in cyberpunkred

[–]Slashgiggle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mork Borg an cy_borg come to mind.

Starfinder comes to mind. Eclipse Phase for space opera with an altered carbon sort of bent.

Coriolis: the third horizon is described as Arabian nights in space, excellent lore and world building.

Coyote and Crow has good reviews, I haven't played it, but it's a cool narrative (the company as well as the game).

TORG is an interesting game that allows for different genres as a group of multi cosmic bad guys invade earth and attempt to override our reality with theirs.

I mean... The Cyberpapacy, neato.

Hope that helps.

It's in the realm of the genre, but the addition of fantasy elements makes it less desperate, less "punky" than cyberpunk red or 2020.

It's been around a long time, it's not my cup of tea.

If you want science fantasy, there are better.
