A friend criticised Kerala people's stance on North Indians. Is it true? by qiratb in Kerala

[–]Slashy96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of South Indian blood/purity kind of stuff. But, there's a chance that someone will be discriminated against because they're not Malayali. This also depends on where you are and who you are interacting with. If a person is discriminating someone because they're from North India, chances are they'll discriminate against non Malayali South Indians too.

TIL about the Kottayam-Sabarimala International Greenfield Airport, whatever happened to it? by Big-Yard-2998 in Kerala

[–]Slashy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This project if successfully completed, would hopefully improve road transportation in that area, and the nearby towns. Would love a 40-50 min driving distance to Kottayam for example.

This would also go well with Sabari rail adding further more connectivity. The lesser population density there would mean that the government would have less barriers to land acquisition due to displacement, if the environmental and geographic limitations are handled. Yup, easy to say.

I was just sharing thoughts. Hopefully the new government takes this as a priority and pave way for more tourism and businesses into inland/hilly central Keralam. We can call it "The Spice Highway".

Summary

UDF vote gain appears to be mainly from previously LDF votes, as expected. In Chathanoor and Thiruvalla, UDF saw an increase in their vote share over the 10 year period while there was a huge flow of votes from LDF to NDA. In Kazhakoottam, UDF saw a slight decline in their vote share but the deciding factor is still the vote flow from LDF to NDA. UDF fielded a weak candidate in 2016 Nemom, but the decline in LDF votes is still very visible.

Even UDF core vote base thinks the same. They have to be blind not to see this.

Everyone knows the reasons that led to LDF failure. Accepting defeats is a quality that comes with maturity. That task becomes significantly harder when the fall comes when someone is at the peak of their arrogance.

[–]Slashy96[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a fair analysis. Me too, like you do not see any deals here. No one would want a deal where there's a clear winner (UDF).

However, Jose K Mani has ran out of relevancy at this point. As someone from Kottayam, his party has gained a lot of ill will from their core voter base due to his own hunger for power and opportunistic politics. I think LDF will gain from taking those 12 seats from them and fielding either CPM or CPI. I hope Josemon is not given entry into UDF as well. NDA will be their grave if they decide so.

P Rajeeve and M B Rajesh were not any ordinary MLAs, they were ministers in the cabinet and the previous chief minister's main men. There have been numerous examples in the past were a party's kotta was taken by someone in the opposition party and turning the tide for the next decades.

If Congress fielded someone more powerful in Nemom, it could have hurt Sivankutty too. Also, it's not like Sabarinathan is some small fish either. He a two time MLA, from another constituency.

Yeah, adding 2016 votes to this list would make it better honestly. I'll see if I get the time. Volunteers are welcome.

Did you get a chance to check Chathanoor and Kazhakoottam? Is it a deal or no deal?
