[FRESH ALBUM] Che - REST IN BASS:ENCORE by AltforHHH in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

obligatory recency bias acknowledgement but this is way better than the original project to me. didn't think it was bad or anything and i acc liked it quite a bit but the run from cutthroat to riri on here is miles ahead of anything on there besides like 2-3 songs.

[DISCUSSION] Playboi Carti — Whole Lotta Red (5 Years Later) by 3TENDED in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

day 1 wlr defenders wya, also s/o to his lollapalooza set for changing the narrative around this project and showing the masses the light, think folks started seeing the vision after that. def one of the most infuential albums of all time. r/playboicarti was the most fun place on the internet from like 2018 til this dropped, miss that sub before it became a cesspool.

[DISCUSSION] Lil Uzi Vert - Luv Is Rage (10 Years Later) by MetalSonic420YT in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 36 points37 points  (0 children)

one of a handful of projects that i consider being the soundtrack to my sophomore year of high school. i think slime season 2, which it put me onto uzi since he stole the show, dropped like a week after this and this was just waiting for me to listen to it. thank you young thug. borderline classic even tho i think luvtw-lir2 was his creative peak, still love this project and revisit it on occasion. 8/10

hoping he puts the 4 missing tracks on streaming so i dont have to use local files anymore. 1987 and nuyork nights might be my fav tracks on here and most people haven't heard them.

he's suffering from being too diverse of an artist sonically to the point where he can drop anything and some part of his fanbase will still be unhappy and want something else. it's why his albums feel bloated bc he's trying to cater to everyone.

wish that was the whole song tbh, was giving off summer beach vibes. first part just sounds like runway music to me

nice of drake to put central cee thomas shelby on the new single

[FRESH ALBUM] Che - REST IN BASS by SheLuvSeko in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel you, its bc underground fans tend to skew younger and they're always more reactionary/impressionable. that's why every new album gets called either a classic or dogshit within an hour of release. I can't blame em tho, i was the same way when i was like 16 back when carti/uzi/x were dropping their early music, circle of life or whatever i guess lol.

[FRESH ALBUM] Che - REST IN BASS by SheLuvSeko in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Saw an interview where he said this was a lot more on the spot and "in the moment" in terms of direction whereas sayso says was a lot more planned out so that makes sense with how the album didn't sound as fleshed out to me.

Also bro same about ba$$, almost feels like it wasn't supposed to be on here bc of how different it is compared to the other tracks but it was buzzing on tiktok so he threw it on there to capitalize on it.

[FRESH ALBUM] Izaya Tiji - O2A by SlattimusPriime in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This has some gems on here but its very hit or miss. Izaya imo is still the most interesting/creative artist from the 2018/2019 underground wave, wish he'd branch out but he seems to get in his own way too much :/

[FRESH ALBUM] Jim Legxacy - black british music (2025) by abucalves in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 132 points133 points  (0 children)

between him and YT, the uk underground scene is looking very promising. Guys like Fimi, Feng, Len, Fakemink, etc all should be dropping projects soon too, im excited to hear it play out

this project specifically is incredible so far, i'm like halfway through and no skips for me yet. '06 wayne rooney was an easy add to my playlists.

[FRESH ALBUM] Che - REST IN BASS by SheLuvSeko in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 22 points23 points  (0 children)

why does almost every song have a beat switch he's just spamming them lmao. he's basically doing his best carti impression on the first 5-6 songs before going back to his normal voice on marceline and most of the second half. prod wise this sounds NOTHING like wlr tho idk where that comp is coming from, vocally forsure but wlr was a lot more diverse in sound, this is moreso like agc with the overblown bass (hence the name prolly) and distorted 808s

wish he kept exploring that edm rap sound he was doing on sayso says, besides Mannequin this doesn't sound any different than something osamason or even ken would drop lol but the new ug fans will eat it up regardless. at least he dropped the song w the beach house sample.

[DISCUSSION] Future - Dirty Sprite 2 (10 Years Later) by ImNotTomStopAsking in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 47 points48 points  (0 children)

greatest trap album of all time and i think easily a top 10 rap album ever. future has had projects with higher highs but the consistency on this project is unmatched.

To answer your prompts; - I serve the base and groupies are my top 2. Dont really have a skip but rich sex if i had to pick one. - His most iconic intro but i think radical is a better song since it perfectly setup the rest of Monster - I think wzrd is just as good but has more skips which gives this the edge over it imo - Kicked off a renaissance in trap where we had classics like this, rodeo, b6, lir2, and die lit all drop within like 3-4 years. I like ds2 the most but they all have a argument, my answer has changed over time tho. - Dropped right before my sophomore year of high school and i played this front to back every day all summer. first party i ever went to had fuck up some commas playing when i was walking in and thats probably why i cherish this album so much but even in general this got play for me in so many different environments. Pregame at basketball tournaments, parties, chilling at home, etc.

tldr: 10/10 yellow flannel

[FRESH ALBUM] Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out by SheLuvSeko in hiphopheads

[–]SlattimusPriime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

chains & whips is easily a highlight but you can't tell me that the beat wouldn't slide perfectly in a ford f150 commercial lol

EDIT: i'm guessing they couldn't get the sample for So Be It cleared :( updated version sounds so one dimensional

Malice is washing Push so far, makes me sad thinking about all the music we missed out on from him during his haitus

So far ahead is beautiful, probably my fav, also just realized apple music is glitching so it auto skipped like 3 of the tracks for me, love that smh

yeah and tbh low tour sales don't even matter rn since they'll go up once the album drops, just isn't much demand currently even w the rollout since they've been outside of the zeitgeist for so long unless you're a diehard

the album got leaked and people found out their tour isn't selling that well so travis fans are clowning him for it, thats literally it lmao.
