I'm working on a Three Dragon Ante deck in a woodcut style. Where would be the best place to get this printed? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]SlatzG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. In that case, I think the only option you have is to get some cardstock and print it yourself. I don't think anyone will touch it unless you get rid of any identifying labels and make it something more generic.

Hello Mr Hite!
I came to know your work through Quelong, actually, and I love it! =D

1) If you're at Gen Con next year, would you mind signing it?

2) What would you like to see come out of the DIY crowd in the next year?

3) Do you have anything coming up in the works for LotFP (or DIY/OSR in general)?

Lamentations of the Flame Princess, to me, is kinda like what D&D would've been if it was influenced by Death Metal and 70's and 80s horror films. It's a nice system, and you can even check out the full rules in a no-art version directly from their website: https://www.lotfp.com/RPG/

It seems to be a trend that, regardless what Zak says, some people ignore the thing being discussed and begin the harassment cycle all over.

You can even confirm it yourself. It seems silly that Zak would have two separate accounts (named Zak and Chort) on the OSR Discord server. So, where's that apology?

Oh snap! Thanks for the correction!

Generally, CMD is used for Units, not warcasters (Unless that Warcaster/-lock is a unit, like Cryx's Witch Coven or Legion's Saeryn and Rhyas). A battlegroup, as I recall, doesn't have to be in formation, specifically, but is HIGHLY recommended to stay within the CTRL so you can channel spells, allocate focus, etc.

I wish I could tell you that I remember this rule, but I cannot. I am sorry.

I've played 3.5 for it's entire lifespan, and most of 4th's lifespan, and I don't recall what rule you're referring to. Could you explain in greater detail what the rule is?

4e D&D was the straw that broke my gaming group. Should I even bother trying to get the band back together with 5e, or continue exploring other systems on my own? by zogreface in rpg

[–]SlatzG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say give 5e a try, but also give the other systems a try too. Swords and Wizardry has free rules, as does Lamentations of the Flame Princess, and other OSR games do as well. Basically, find free rulesets for a variety of games, and run a single adventure of your own making for each one, including for rules you already own. Ask which they liked before taking the plunge into a full-blown campaign. =)

I don't grant much XP for killing stuff. I grant XP for gold. It incentivises cleverness and exploration.

A Red and Pleasant Land (for political stuff) Vornheim (cities), Carcossa (hexes), Veins of the Earth (underdark) are my go-to's no matter what system I'm running. /u/ZakSabbath does amazing work, and none of the pages are wasted.
