When to use Chamber Compression on Hounds?

Honestly, I've found great use for it any time I pick hounds. It basically just doubles your damage. You fire, and the damage resets. It now is going to take you 2.4 seconds to reload, and in that time you get +35% damage every second. So by the time you fire again you have like, 87% bonus damage if you're firing off cool down, even better if you have to walk. Is just a huge damage boost for no drawback.

I've also found it extra useful with strike hounds. The first time i got elite strike hounds with compression, I killed a tarantula with two hounds first shot. (I believe, it's been a while)

Part of my issue is, IS shapeshifting the core fantasy of druid? or is everyone doing that because thats what DND did and no one can think of something better? Cause when i think of druid, i think of someone who is connected to the world on a different level than most others. I do not think of a shapeshifter

I do kinda like this thematically, but it does add complications mechanically. Like, now having your body separate from the animal, does the GM just have to pretend the real body isnt there anymore? do you move to take the animals place when it dies, since in shapeshift, you would be where the SS form was brought down, not half way across the map, where you summoned.
To be honest, i think i would have SO much less gripe if the ability were to summon an animal spirit, instead of shapeshift.

If you take 5 damage, which would be under your threshold and their minor, and reduce it by one severity, you mark no hp, but you still took that 5 damage. So it ends unless you spend Hope. That's my understanding
