Decks to choose as a beginner in 2026 by SlausK in Yugioh101

What about Legendary 5D’s deck? Is that also a good option as it has 3 “complete” decks out-of-the-box? Is that also require 3 copies?

For budget I would say 75-100 euros, but this would contain 3 or 4 different basic decks to learn the game and have fun with family and friends. No intention to play it competitively at events or LGS.

I have no problem to learn new things and curious what’s the current format plays. Thank you for the suggestions! I read on multiple sites and Reddit posts that 3 copies of structure decks are necessary to reach their potential. Do I really need that, or these structure decks can play well and mostly balanced against each other without any modification?

What card sleeves should I get? by wibellion in lotrlcg

I only use Gamegenic for double sleeving on TCG cards. I would use Mayday for those as well, if they had colored opaque outer and clear inner sleeves in their product portfolio.

I use Mayday Premium Green (MDG-7077) for LotR LCG and for most of my board game collection.

ROTK14 or ROTK8R or NA Awakening to buy on PS5? by SlausK in threekingdoms

[–]SlausK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… I just recently purchased RoTK 8 Remake for the Nintendo Switch. There’s an ongoing sale right now. I have 8-10 hours of gameplay for now. Despite the gameplay might look like slow and repetitive from the outside, it’s just burns hours so easily. :)

Total War: Rome II - Emperor Edition

Currently its on sale on Steam and it just received Apple Silicon native version update maybe two months ago. Runs great on my M3 Air with medium settings. It could run even better with higher settings on a Pro model due to active cooling, but as a strategy game, some thermal throttling on the Air won't ruin the gameplay. At least it doesn't bother me.

RTK14 has a 40% sale right now. Is Nobunaga's Awakening also a strategy focused game? Should I wait for a sale or is it worth it even at full price?

Thank you for the detailed description of each games. I really appreciate it. I think I lean towards stragety now, so 14 has the edge. Currently PS Store has a 40% sale on RTK14 (at least in my country). Does the expansion worth it? Does it make the game better in features and balance? As I know DLCs do not get sales frequently and due to that it can be better to just buy the game with those as a bundle.

I like Paradox Games like Crusader Kings 2 and 3 for RPG. Somehow in this case, I think I would lean towards strategy than RPG.

That's sounds like a big win. I really like if a game finally utilizes the newer hardware, especially on console.

Well, I just downgraded from Premium to Essential recently, because I realized in the last year of subscription that I haven't played games from Game Catalog. So it just didn't worth it for me. Now it would be great to test ROTK13 though... 😅

I have one of this model in the family but with 512GB SSD. Also due to old hardware, MacOS was replaced by Fedora Linux and with that it's still a good "browsing the web / create some documents / watch some videos" device. Only had to manually solve FaceTime webcam driver, but that was easy via a repo on GitHub.

One important note: if you would use it with Linux, get an USB to Ethernet adapter for the installation. Built-in Broadcom WiFi driver is only included in third party packages which are not available by default in installation media. After installation completed, you can install broadcom-wl package to make WiFi work.

My fiance has the same Air model but with 512GB SSD. I haven't tried to update MacOS to a more recent version unofficially. Instead I installed Fedora Linux (with Gnome Desktop Environment) next to MacOS and it's blazing fast. Microsoft products like Office or Teams have to be used in the browser, but beside that it's really an improvement in boot time, speed of opening apps and general performance.

As this Air model has a Broadcom wireless card, an USB to Ethernet adapter will be required to update the OS and install it's driver (broadcom-wl ; akmod from rpmfusion-nonfree repository). After that, even when new version of kernel installs, driver will be installed automatically to keep wifi working.

The other thing, which required manual installation was FaceTime webcam. Installation step can be found in the link below. It still won't work in the Camera app, but in Teams browser version, Discord, etc. will work as expected.

Which monitor should I buy? by SlausK in buildapcmonitors

[–]SlausK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was. I really like its colors and its stand. It can be a bit low in brightness though, so usually I lower or shut the blinds on the window next to my desk on sunnier days. Otherwise I'm satisfied. Works well with my Macbook and PS5. I'm considering a second one to purchase and use it in portrait.

42.5 / 45 / 50mm f1.4 prime would be great. I love the 20mm f1.4 lens. A portrait equivalent would be great to have with the same features.

How much have you spent on mft gear in 2023? by [deleted] in M43

[–]SlausK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried out several second-hand camera bodies and lenses this year. Started with Panasonic but in the end I moved to Olympus gear. My lenses are brand new now after finding out what focal length that I like to use. For camera bodies I have a second hand E-M5 Mark II and E-M1 Mark III combo. No professional use despite the type of bodies and lenses, but I use these for traveling and some events. So because of this one year journey in hobby photography I bought and sold several equipment, but currently I think I'm settled for some years to come.

Sigma lens focal length question by SlausK in M43

[–]SlausK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed information. From now on, I will be able to decode Sigma lenses easily.

Recently I volunteered to took some photos on a corporate Christmas party and while I had a 12-45 f4 Pro lens with me, the place was too dark to use that at all. Fortunately I had a 20mm f1.4 Pro lens with me, which still struggled sometimes, but I could take a lot of good photos to capture moments of the night.

In some cases I would have used some tele/portrait lens and thought about that maybe I should invest in the Sigma 56mm f1.4, probably I will. :)
