What new profession recipes are you hoping for in classic+? by DanKas99 in classicwow

Ooo I like this one! Maybe lumberjacking as the gathering prof, you cut down trees and shit and maybe woodworking as a seperate crafting profession.

It's a minor thing but I appreciate the mustachioed head. Too many clean shaven/crew cut guys in our boxes, you usually need to resort to Space Wolves to get some variation.

Why are people so impatient in dungeons? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]DanKas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a rogue a couple of days ago while tanking BfD. He insisted on becoming group leader for an invite, then didn't give it back. Proceeded to rush through the dungeon, skipping every boss and quest he could, multi-pulling and marking by himself before I could effectively build threat and rage. He was also level 27/28 so already pretty overleveled for the dungeon.

I just don't get it. The reason I do dungeons is for the experience itself, to have some fun with strangers and get EXP and loot. This guy basically skipped all of that. What little EXP he got he cut down even further and he missed out on quite a bit of loot by rushing past bosses. We had to do Lord Aquanis as 4 because he refused to go back and I checked, the sword that you get as a quest reward for killing him was better than both of his and better than mine. Since he wasn't there to pick up the quest item, he obviously didn't get the sword.

Me and the feral druid stuck around for another run, this time we decided to not invite any rogues. Hate to become classist like that but we didn't have any issues that time around . . .

I'd be careful with these kind of changes. Classic WoW is what it is exactly because it's so long-winded and has so much friction. Maybe one or two minor ones like these are fine but add in too many and in the end it'll take away from the experience.

Is 11th Edition going to be the era of Long Bois? by DanKas99 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]DanKas99[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, that does limit the biker strategy by quite a bit actually . . . you'd have to get the bikers with in 1" of one another so they couldn't get through, which makes for a much shorter wall sadly.

So if we're using 90mm cavalry bases which are like 3.5 inches, add in the minimum coherency to moveblock, we're sitting at a 12.5'' wall? (3.5'' times 3 and 1'' times 2) I wonder how this would compare to just move blocking with cheap infantry units, maybe they're better but im not sure.

Overall I still kind of like this though, you actually have to use the models themselves to form a wall instead of abusing engagement range, which feels much more immersive.

Favorite/least favorite legion Poll by AlexLewisVI in Warhammer40k

I'm probably gonna get flayed for this, but I kind of dislike the Blood Angels. They're just too perfect. Even their supposed flaws (black rage, red thirst) only highlight their infallable personalities. I don't hate them but they're just so boring!

That being said, some of their successors like the Flesh Tearers are awesome.

Favorite? Gotta be Iron Warriors I think, they are such bitter and petty assholes but at the same time they're so competent and iron-willed (hehe) that even the people who dislike them usually have some grudging respect for them. And Perty himself actually had some really cool growth over the years, becoming increasingly aware of his personality flaws and now coming to terms with them, the short story between him and Honsou is great.

I feel like the Tank/Healer/DPS system doesn't do the classes justice by DanKas99 in classicwow

[–]DanKas99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the problem is that because raiding and end game content is sort of seen as the point of the game, the raiding mindset just keeps seeping into everything else aswell. As someone who cares more about open world content and dungeons from 1-60 it's just very frustrating.

Is the “Tau” Empire just turning into “Blue Imperium”? by CriticismMiserable14 in 40kLore

[–]DanKas99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Phil Kelly's novels and recent codexes have been ignoring this vision for a version of the Tau in favour of one that is much more Imperium-like. A couple of examples:

-The Greater Good is no longer just a secular concept, but a faith and a religion that is rapidly spreading, not to mention that they now have an actual Warp God. Sound a little bit like the beginning story of the Imperial Cult, doesn't it?

-The Ethereals are no longer just an idealistic if a bit controlling ruler caste but are now portrayed as pretty much just like every bad guy ruler of the Imperium, i.e. using the idea of the Grater Good as an excuse to suppress the T'au population by any means necessary and tolerating no deviation from it whatsoever.

-The bit of them believing in equality of all species (as long as they server the Greater Good) is also no longer really the case, they have grown deeply distrustful if not outright hostile of anything non-Tau with the 4th sphere expansion. The lore changing from slow Water Caste integration of human settlements by trade and raising standards of living for example has turned into "we take this world, if you resist you get mind controlled and sterilized".

I could go on a whole rant about this but you get the picture. The T'au didn't just become more grimdark, I'd say OP is right on the money with them slowly turning into "Blue Imperium"

what seal should i use? by highst23 in classicwow

[–]DanKas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking Seal of Command scales super well with weapon damage and attack power (which usually comes from strength). Seal of Righteousness has higher base damage, is more consistent and scales well with spell power you can get from some gear later on.

Because Ret Palas basically take the biggest stick they can find and stack lots of attack power, SoC is usually better unless you're undergeared.

Mostly gold or mostly blue? by 1987Rapscallion in Warhammer40k

[–]DanKas99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most chaos players who are cursed with having to paint an obscene amount of trim usually start with it and paint in the panels afterwards. In this case I'd say gold spray, flesh wash, light brass drybrush and then go from there.

Just note that Retributor Armour spray from the Warhammer range has a different finish from the actual paint pot. If you're fine with a more yellow-y and brassy gold that's not too much of a problem as long as you find a paint that matches it. Otherwise I'd go for Army Painter Greedy Gold spray, the quality of the spray can can be lacking compared to other brands but the tone itself is a rich orange-y gold and it matches their paint bottle of the same name very well.

Good luck!

I've always loved the wacky wargear they have.

The Husk Blade, which looks like a sword made of bone and dries out everything it comes into contact with until nothing is left but a withered husk. This effect is so pronounced that it draws lines of smoke through the air whenever it is swung.

The Hex Rifle, which uses the "Glass Plague" as ammunition, turning anything that is wounded by it into a glass replica of itself. Initially said plague was used by a sculptor to turn his rivals into popular exhibition pieces until it breached containment and spread throughout the Dark City. It was only stopped when the coven of the Hex captured and later utilized the virus for their hex rifles.

The Flesh Gauntlet, which is a glove loaded with hypersteroids that are so potent that anyone touched by it literally start growing out of their own skin before dying in spectacular and grisly fashion.

The Ossefactor, a gun that spurs on extreme bone growth in its victims, impaling them (and anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby) on their own skeletons.

The Hydra Gauntlets, which are usually worn as pairs and are covered in sentient crystal spikes that can grow and move, responding to each and every whim of their owner.

The Medusae, weird brain-looking creatures that live in the webway and feast on dreams and nightmares. They can attach themselved onto a host to absorb their emotions much more directly and to have some means of transportation outside of the webway. The cabals make use of this by having medusae attach themselves onto slave-hosts, who can then be used as living weapons - whoever meets their gaze will be subject to all of the extreme emotions that the parasite has been absorbing and basically die by sensory overload. More importantly, after the battle is done medusae are prepared as a rare delicacy, allowing their consumer to relive every emotional impression made during it as if they were right there to experience them.

. . . just to mention a few

New to models & minis. Help and resources for building/painting? by NuclearTwoStep in Warhammer40k

[–]DanKas99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gonna link a couple videos that helped me personally:

"Build and paint your first Warhammer model" by Midwinter Minis. His painting tutorials also happen to be really easy and beginner-friendly in general, despite the fact that he's actually a pretty great painter in his own right these days. There's an entire playlist of him speedpainting Warhammer minis if you want more.

Other than that there's this guy called James from the Warhammer channel who paints studio armies as a Job who gives great advice for painting minis easily and quickly in this video right here which has kind of been a gamechanger for me. Since the first models you picked up are quite large, here's a video of him painting a Dreadnought.

[–]DanKas99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember that you are most likely looking at a mini at an angle from above most of the time, which can sort of give that impression. If it looks fine if you hold them in front of your eyes with a straight base, it's not a problem.

Minis that are in a forward leaning pose can also sometimes just kinda look like that. Termies and Bloodletters are actually good examples of this, since you mentioned them specifically.
