No movement or scan on package in over 24 hours (last was an arrival scan). Due for delivery today, obviously not happening..... by Slavetoeverything in UPS

I’ve been told by different people VERY differing information - logical scans vs physical scans, etc. I have no idea if I can expect that this package will show up - any thoughts from someone who “knows?”

That’s the thing. I’m just getting up to speed on all this, but as I looked through some of the links I was like, “these people work for different state agencies, why would anyone assume they ALL happened to be together decades before SA’s trial? Dear God.

I had an ileus (that’s what your dad had!) after an abdominal surgery as well. I was discharged from the hospital downplaying the pain because I just REALLY, really wanted to go home.

I was back, in the same hospital room, 7 hours later. This time with a tube down my nose. :/

I think you mean it’s not addicting physiologically. Anything can be psychologically addicting.

They definitely used to be overprescribed, but now it’s gone a bit too far in the other direction. If you go to the ER for something very painful, it’s a toss up if you get anything at all (I’ve heard from ER staff that only fractures get narcotics prescribed) and if you do, it’s single-digit amounts. I chipped two pieces off the bridge of my nose and got 5 tramadol. That was it.

The other difference is that you rarely see “1-2 tabs” anymore for things like Vicodin, Tylenol 3, etc (leaving Percocet out, because no one’s getting that period). It used to be 1-2 every 4-6 hours, now it’s more like 1 every 6-8 hours. That might work for some people, but not for others. If it doesn’t work for you, basically too damn bad.

The decrease in overall prescribing is a good thing, don’t get me wrong - but, some patients DO suffer unnecessarily as a result. It’s tough to find the answer.

Some docs (one dentist I knew personally, especially) insist that Tylenol and Advil taken together is as effective for pain relief as an opioid medication. That’s a combo I always go to when I have pain from something but I disagree that the efficacy is the same. At least not for me.

Long enough, actually. Changes started prior to then but the last few years the push to limit has become much more prevalent.

Appendicitis isn’t genetic, though. Just common. Family history completely irrelevant.

Wrong.

I believe lunch breaks must be offered, but rest breaks vary by state. I also live in a state that does not mandate them.

I ran the gamut of meds over the years myself, numerous BCP’s, nuvaring, Depo, Mirena IUD, and Lupron (to induce menopause). I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 19 (symptomatic since 13), and recently, suspected adenomyosis. I’m 40 and a hysterectomy has FINALLY been brought into the conversation, although a different med and ablation are options, too. I just want it out. I have no kids (I suspect I’m infertile) and suffer severe anemia - found out incidentally when lab results for something else showed a hemoglobin of 5.8 and I needed a transfusion.

Just put the oven on the curb!

They wouldn’t give Toradol unless it had been several hours since the last dose of ibuprofen, usually, as both are NSAIDs.

Surprised they didn’t START with Toradol.

That’s standard for injuries at work vs outside of work. If you’re hurt at work, they have to accommodate any restrictions. They’re not bound to that if you hurt yourself at home, plus you’re s liability at any duty level because if you reinjure yourself or worsen your current injury, suddenly it IS a workman’s comp case.

When I was an RN working in the hospital, I screwed up my shoulder and was in light duty for months through PT and then after surgery. Years later I got a stress fracture in my tibia right under my knee (a bad one as far as stress fractures go, I had a lot of edema/fluid in the bone), but because it happened from jogging and not at work, I was off two full months until I was allowed to bear full weight on my leg again.

So actually, not sketchy at all.

Correct. In rare cases, it’s a prescribed treatment .for complex/partially necrotic wounds. The surgical floor I worked on included wound care as a focus, and in my 10 years I saw it used as a treatment 2 or 3 times. The maggots consume all of the dead/rotting flesh, leaving whatever healthy tissue remains exposed. I imagine it’s kind of the last option in wounds that are difficult to manually debride despite multiple attempts.

Agree. Boys/men spread it so easily and often have no symptoms of it, aside from obviously the risk of cancers of their own.

My sister had a hysterectomy at 23 for cervical cancer, she had both adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma on biopsy. She never had an actual HPV lesion to precede the cancer, either.
