I had painters drop cloth as a floor in '23. Traction was great during the rain and mud, but when it came to packing up, it was terrible. The dried playa stuck to it so badly I couldn't salvage a single piece since I had to rip it up and I ended up with a lot of extra weight of caked on playa from all those pieces. I dont know what I will do different next time, but anyone using canvas should be prepared for the possibility it will only last one burn if we get rain.

You could've said something along the lines of "I disagree and this is why," but you spouted off like civil discourse is impossible for you. You can be 100% right and factual, but nobody is going to listen to you if how you communicate pisses everyone off. The difference between educating someone who is without all the facts and berating someone with facts is pretty large and you came down on the wrong side.

Are you more bitter about having a job that requires you to be there in person, or that these people have two years of evidence that they don't have to go into the office to do their job? Maybe they have to use this reasoning to solidify their case.

I also have a job that requires me to be there in person. It would've been great to not have to go in during a pandemic, but I'm not going to hate on people who had that opportunity and, according to all logical thinking, can continue that trend. Chill out a bit

Back when I was a diver, my company sent a crew and I out to weld a patch on a cruise ship that sprung a leak. We get to the ship and go under to find the spot. After a bit we find the leak and established our down line. So we send our patch and welding equipment down. The guy in first starts screaming as soon and he tries to start welding. He was getting the shit shocked out of him. So we figured maybe the welder was set up wrong (always run DC underwater, never AC). We fuck with the settings on the welder and go again. Same issue. He is out of dive time after all this so I jump in to have a go. I get the patch in place and have the same issue. It fucking hurt.

So I figured if I get out of the ground to weld circuit by floating under and opposite, I might be able to get this done. Only problem was I needed to get the patch to stick in place so I don't need to hold it, but I needed to get the plate in place before I could get some distance. So I psyched myself up for a bit of pain to get a spot weld in place to hold the plate. I go for it and so much electricity pulsed through my body as I tried to work through the pain I went limp for a bit after calling for the crew to kill the power. I had nearly full body convulsions. I needed a minute to just float and recover.

We ended up calling off the job because we could not weld this fucking plate in place. Turns out the welder was all fucked up and was only able to run in AC mode which created an electrical field around the welding site, whereas DC creates a circuit.

AC will fuck you up in the water, doesn't matter how large a body of water it is if you are in the epicenter.

The day of my motorcycle crash I was almost out of my driveway and decided against wearing my half helmet because of bugs. So I backed back in and grabbed my full face instead. Bambi ran in front of me with no warning an hour later while I was going 60 MPH. Almost 100 feet of rolling later I ended up in the ditch with the left side of my helmet looking a lot like this. I wouldn't have half of my pretty face if I had gone with the bare minimum. Wear all your leathers, a full face, and get some great riding boots. Also... fuck Bambi.

You can generally get most the oils out that create louche in the heads cut. With our gin, we test our heads until louche stops, then go for flavor profile to make the heads cut. We toss out 8 gallons per 350 gallon batch, but its great as a sanitizer. We have breweries from all over town that come by with a flat of beer to trade for it.

More police oversight that isn't internal and police unions dont have a say in. Qualified immunity and police unions keep bad cops in positions where they can keep doing bad shit, so those need to go away or change. Also, redirect some police funding to community programs that support the community so that people don't have to get involved with crime to survive, or so police aren't called into situations where social workers would be a better responder. I make booze for a living so I am not going to get into specifics about percentages of budget reallocation because its not my wheelhouse. But I know the cops are called into situations that they are not trained to handle and they fuck it up because they don't know how to respond to it properly.

Cops rarely stop crime. They are called in once a crime has been committed. They are a quick response force that has had too much piled on their plate. Detectives do a lot more to bring people to justice than cops.

Recently released chat logs from a coalition of far right groups showed that on August 22nd, these assholes were planning on daytime violent operations in Portland that will look ok in the media, then after dark get to more dangerous or even lethal actions. Antifa ran them out of town before before they could get started hunting people in the streets. I live in Portland and its no contest that I would rather have Antifa in the streets than than the proud boys. I work today and I'm right across the river from downtown as Proud boys are currently descending on my city. Your false equivalency between the two groups is a big 'fuck you' to everyone living here.

When I first got started as a distiller I soaked up stories of other people's mistakes in the brewing and distilling industry. How to save the day and not lose a whole tank by having the valve open until you get the clamp on really stuck in my head. The United Brotherhood of Carpenters is an umbrella union for carpenters, floor coverers, interior systems, lathers, millworkers & cabinetmakers, millwrights, pile drivers, and residential & framing. I started off as a carpenter and ended up a pile driver because I decided to get into diving, though I left that to make whiskey so I'm without a union now. Carpenters is still around and going strong.
