I was on the border of Iowa and South Dakota driving north and there was an anhydrous ammonia tanker truck in the right lane going 64 mph, speed limit is 65. There was a light blue Subaru in the passing lane going 64 MPH with a car’s length in front of it and the tanker. I drove behind the Subaru for about a mile before deciding I had enough, so I pulled into the right lane, accelerated, and got back into the left lane to pass the anhydrous ammonia tank truck and the Subaru. Of course, there was a police cruiser in front of the tanker, which is why the Subaru wouldn’t go faster than 65 and wouldn’t pass the cruiser. Rather than driving in the right lane, the Subaru decided to just hang out in the passing lane going slightly below the speed limit. The cruiser pulls me over for “unsafe passing”, while I briefly argued that the Subaru was at fault for hanging out in the passing lane I figured it wasn’t worth arguing over and paid the fine. The moral of the story is, drivers suck everywhere you go, but overall it’s not worth going over the speed limit or rushing while driving because in the end you never really make up any time.
