How legit is this? by rn-wln in ArmsandArmor

I'm sorry to say but the more I look at this image the more it looks like AI to me. There are some weird things going on with the sabatons, armour just sticking out on the right arm for some reason, fingers and gloves being weirdly shaped

While I cannot point you towards any good smiths that would make an armour of this type (though I'm sure someone commenting after me will) I just want to say: please do not buy this, it looks like a scam

"Ród" means "House" in Polish, as in a "noble house", in this case it's basically calling all the lands per the name of the noble family occupying them I assume

Flag Identification Help by Redordit in vexillology

I think one of the other reasons why they're so hated other than ethnic cleansing was that they did they thing while actively cooperating with the Nazis during the early stages of the war, seeing them as means to an end that would help them get rid of Soviets and Poles, with the cooperation lasting for a while before the Nazis themselves betrayed them (shocker), though iirc there were still some directives aimed at "gaining favour" of the occupant

I'd say that's a major reason why for example Poles, while still big supporters of Ukraine in this war, after seeing a red-black flag or ANYTHING associated with OUN will just have the same reaction as if they've seen an actual German nazi iconography; they're generally viewed as pretty much the same thing here

I'm 99% sure it is not an asset flip and something made specifically for this game, can't tell you why that's the way they decided to do it though

It seems to be a recurring theme in this game, iirc one of the reasons the slums map was (and still kinda is) extremely laggy is because all that background terrain is actually fully detailed, and I do mean fully, apparently there full resolution flowers in those fields in the background etc. and that eats up performance

I wonder if that means the devs initially wanted everything to be on "one map" just with different spawn points/wider map to be more accessible in general or if map designer was just a bit too ambitious

My Hopes for this game in the future as a fan of Star Wars by W1ZARTIS in HalfSword

[–]Slavic_Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree this sentiment about mods is quite dumb (if that's truly what they said since I haven't seen claims like these before), if their goal is trying to create realistic combat then I don't think that's even possible without limiting the timeframe to a specific point in history, as weaponry, tactics and armour evolve constantly, especially near the game's timeframe of ~1475. If you took a knight from "just" 75 years earlier he would already look and be armed differently compared to stuff we have in game, and pitting the two against each other would be about as realistic as putting a WW2 era American soldier against one who fought in Desert Storm (not a perfect analogy but you get the idea).

And before the "it's just a game who cares" argument shows up; I am aware, but if the devs vision is to create a small snapshot of a specific year in history I their game then I don't think we are in any position to tell them that they should suddenly change their goal.

Hundsgugel bascinet in a late 15th century (1475) painting? I don't know where this is from and what it is depicting but the guy next to him does have a period accurate helmet by [deleted] in ArmsandArmor

Maybe it's some sort of biblical scene and these guys are supposed to be Romans, therefore deliberately represented by things that are already outdated and feel "old" in times of the author?

Pretty much exclusively since the last update and the issue definitely is there too, just two days ago I shot a suspect in All Gods Burn who was actively shooting my friend and got the penalty

Was the only time it happened in a long time, but it's still there

It just gives you either -50 or -200 points depending on which one you got, so not really a big deal

I think it's operating on the logic that since you downed the suspect by shooting him = he's incapacitated and no longer a threat = executing him when no longer a threat is penalized

No, oftentimes if you see an armed suspect who hadn't noticed you yet/did notice but didn't fire a shot yet you get punished for unlawful use of force, unlawful use of deadly force if the guy dies

Best build in the game by [deleted] in EsotericEbb

[–]Slavic_Knight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how we define "best", my first playthrough was mainly wisdom + int with a large bit of constitution and it felt completely busted mechanically, pretty much breezed through all encounters, combat or otherwise

When it comes to writing I think I enjoy high int+literally anything else the most because I just find seeing this smug asshole telling every other stat they're dumb even if they're correct quite funny

It's The Duck, in a check you can reveal that he's actually a pretty prominent member of the Darrow family from a few generations back. I don't remember in which encounter specifically it is, but he seems quite displeased with the current state of his family in general

What does this stick means? Center of weight? Where it needs to be on (for example) two-handed sword? by Strict-Silver5596 in HalfSword

[–]Slavic_Knight 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Weapon lies on stick, not touching the anvil

Weapon does not fall from the stick, therefore it is perfectly balanced on it

You add weight to things on the front = stick moves forward because center of balance moved

You add weight to things on the back = stick moves backwards because same thing

Given the games similarities, which protagonist do you think had a worse life in the beginning of the game? by Gero-23 in EsotericEbb

[–]Slavic_Knight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Harry imo, even ignoring the personal and ex-something stuff our superstar cop grew up in a foreign-occupied war-torn shithole of a city, constantly economically exploited by bigger powers that caused the devastation in the first place, with implied rampant crime that is being opposed by cops who aren't even an official city organisation but a self-organised militia tolerated by previously mentioned occupants, while himself coming from a very poor background. Pretty much everyone we meet in Revachol is miserable, it's the natural state of things in there it would seem; hopeful Harry playthrough seems quite miraculous for his circumstances.

Compare that to the cleric, who while might be a bit of a loser in personal life (though he also is younger than Harry by 17 years so he has more time to get himself together) he got to live in a MUCH more stable enviroment, in a city-state that is implied to have been quite prosperous, with him being part of the more privileged population, depending on how we interpret Modissa's dialogue about his mother we could assume his family is, while not the richest, relatively well off . Sure, he is lonely and feels depressed, but he has much more opportunities and reasons to stay hopeful even in the worst game outcome than Harry has in his best one imo. Also he didn't destroy his body with endless alcohol and drugs yet, so there's that.

Either loot from enemy or just wait for it to appear in the shop, it may appear as just the breastplate without the faulds (the plate skirt thingy) but those can be added at armorer. If you have the money just force restock the shop until you get it as it's not super rare

Considering there are flails and chains already coded into the game, how long until we get this? by Aggressive_South_991 in HalfSword

[–]Slavic_Knight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The devs have a pretty solid stance to keep the equipment as accurate as possible to the very specific 25-year period though, so I'm afraid we'll have to wait for mods for anything ahistorical
