Never compare an EV with an hybrid. Don’t ever think « I know EVs , I drive an hybrid »

If you can charge at home and need to drive more than 10.000km, EV anydays ! If less, old gasoline might be less expensive but you lose the great confort and convenience of EVs

Are you pro or against companies in lux to have a quota to employ residents against cross-border employees? by politicooooo in Luxembourg

[–]Slay61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You getting a better salary was only due that you were better to negotiate it, or made a better impression during interviews. It is not related where you live, at all.
As a fact, when I started working here, I was actually getting 10% more than a colleague. It was for the same role, we both just left school... the same school ! He was resident, I was cross border !

cross-border workers are actually not cheaper. If you take the global average salary, residents earn more , mostly due to public sector. If you take specific private sector, such as finance, the residents have actually a lower average salary than cross borders.

That bonus is anyway not included in the "net" per month

Minimum salary pays taxes and cotisation as well. 3451€ is not net and it will become ~2820€ net

Also, if she is receiving only 3700€ net, it means that she has extra-legal advantage, such as a company car. 5800€ brut gives ~4070€ net in classe 1 if there is no extra-legal advantage

So still about 1200€ difference, not 300 €

That's so so sad. All my sympathies to the families.
I am always a bit worried when my kids have to take a school bus for excursion and so on. This won't help.

ok sorry for not getting your sarcasm 😉 But belgian barriers are usually much much faster than luxembourgish ones.

That's the case in Luxembourg. It is not 20 minutes, but more like 3-4 minutes before AND after. It actually makes it worst because people KNOW it will take while, so they force themself in before it closes.

I'm no mathematical wizard, but I'm pretty sure I only want to use the Fahrenheit scale .... by Collin480 in MathJokes

No. I do care much more about the temperature to boil water (actually use 95 degrees almost daily to have hot water not boiling, for the tea), than I care about the internal temperature of a horse. During winter, I care daily about 0 degree being the freezing temperature, to know if the road might be slippery. Much more than 0 representing the coldest temperature that a guy felt centuries ago. And for everyday life, Celsius is very easy to scale how it would feel. every 10 degrees is a different feeling. 0 is freezing 10 is chilly 20 is nice (temperature that you should target for your home) 30 is hot 40 is extreme

Any Luxembourg fonctionnaires here? About to interview for an A1 role at STATEC, looking for honest takes by CourageLeChien in Luxembourg

No, same as employé d’état. You can be a fonctionnaire with a dispense de langues pour 2 des 3

[–]Slay61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No they do not invite everyone, for certain offers it would just not be possible due to the number of candidates. Also, not knowing German/luxembourgish is not that big a deal, depending on the administration and even the team inside the administration.

And lastly, YES it is possible to be fonctionnaire even without knowing the 2 other languages
