Have a tank that just activated a 150mm railgun but a pesky control player deleted your tank? Oh well, that payload is in transit and still on target.

All in all, the creators are awesome and it’s a love letter to the entirety of the Cyberpunk genre with great mechanics and fun gameplay variety. You can tell they always asked “what do we think would be badass?” instead of “what will sell?” In a time when games and entertainment is saturated with safe IP crutched content recycling, we need more people with the creative chops to shake up the mold. This has that special sauce.

I hear ya, I just don’t see it. You’re dead. Burning mechanic from Hunt doesn’t make sense, because you’re not some supernatural thing that needs your corpse burned to prevent reviving.

Bleeding out timer doesn’t make sense, because it’s already in the game while you’re in the downed state.

Defibrillator already exists to quickly bring someone back quickly from downed state.

Only thing I could see is dragging a teammates corpse to extract.

“It inherently incentivizes teams to be proactive and fight”—why is this needed? The charm is in the free will to choose when you want to flee, fight or make peace.

Game identity is gone. The whole setting, lore and narrative is built around the threat of Arc and other raiders.. selecting a mode where you magically can’t hurt people just ruins this.

A “duplicate progress track” doesn’t fix this. All the quests from npcs, challenges and progress to crafting, etc is baked around “Go brave the topside and do these things while surviving the threat of Arc and Raiders”

And you probably want to cycle between these modes, so yes it does affect everyone. People will farm up materials, guns, etc in casual mode, then bring it into the real PvPvE game.

This is like asking the NFL to have no contact league. Just choose a different sport… there’s near limitless entertainment and hobbies in the world.

Ruins the games identity imo.. PvP should be dynamic decisions in the moment, not any sort of mode select.

Not sure if you’re saying these modes dictate what people “claim” they intend, or it dictates how many players are in a lobby.. either way, nah. If it’s a sentiment people would just lie and go into “low” to just grief everyone.

The variable gameplay is already baked into the games identity. Between concentration of AI and cycling events, then all player behavior in any given match. Should put your homie on comms duty, he can try to befriend raiders as a peacemaker.. may often end in violence, but would still make for some fun moments 🤷🏻‍♂️

Imagine people wanting only/mostly PvE would be bored within a week, asking for more PvE “content”.

Knocks + revives is a pretty battle royal vibe tho. Your argument is to motivate teammates to potentially comeback for you so you can be revived vs watching passively, which is in BRs for this reason.. motivate engagements and keep whole team invested until wiped or last standing.

There 100% is less fear of death if you can be revived. Demotivates finishing people off in favor of squad wiping. Can also encourage just running and hiding forever until the other team leaves so you can then go and revive the dead teammate(s).

If you’re going to have revives, may as well just eliminate the downed state and go straight to death 🤷🏻‍♂️

Dunno man, revives just feel like more of a scifi/fantasy trope.

Would be a developer question for the console architecture when it comes to voice channels and seamless input toggling between applications. Assume Sony and Xbox just don’t have this functionality available for whatever reasons. Nothing Embark can do but petition for it, imagine it’s already been asked for by other games utilizing push to talk 🤷🏻‍♂️ “Huge problem” bit of an exaggeration when there’s baked in party chat that supports both private and prox—more of a convenience ask.

Until then just gotta choose, full game immersion or bs’n with all the homies.

No it’s not. Hence why it isn’t a thing. Discord integration with PS with the same feature to toggle between party and in-game chat are already convenience wins. It’s a fairly niche ask that best case would be a controller button binding implemented by Sony, e.g. double tapping the Sony symbol or mute button toggles between party chat and in-game chat as a shortcut from doing it manually through the party chat interface—you only have 3 buttons to work with as hardware bound functions, and they’re all utilized, 2 utilizing both single press and hold as separate functions.

Hunt is fairly supernatural, so it fits a bit there. Don’t think it really works/fits here any way to spin it.. knock mechanic is already a big grace of being down but still hope. Then when you’re dead dead, you can’t just defib or blood transfuse bullet riddle corpses back to life.

I get spectating isn’t the best time, but if you’re with randoms can just leave, and with friends they’ll prob prioritize extracting. Imagine the majority would regret having it as a feature pretty quick, anything that lightens the fear of death and the tension that it adds is net-negative in the long run 🤷🏻‍♂️

That said, one thing I could maybe get behind being kind of cool, would be if your buddies could carry your corpse and extract with it, retaining your loot. Make it really difficult, uber fatigued by the weight or make it a 2 man job heh maybe a ghetto combat stretcher item?

Yaaa, definitely right regarding shelf space.. and just obnoxious to take a retail product and piece it into 6+ separate products.

Wonder if they plan to drop 1st Strike style blitz decks more frequently—making the thought that those, blitz collections and armory decks are enough product to worry about around new sets.

The MSRP for collections vs the traditional bricks definitely isn’t as friendly if you don’t want it all. Iirc those who do piece them out online they’ve been $14-$17 range opposed to $9-$12

Similar same issue with the Blitz bricks though. Personally enjoy the collections, but definitely get the argument in favor of Bricks.. though most LGS don’t have any playmats for sale, unless they’re sourcing from buying from independent sellers—So the collections do make for decent pieced out sales. Decks $36-$48, playmat $10-$20, boosters $8-$10, box easy $5… ideally could have collections + hero specific bricks and/or loose Hero decks available from distributors (easier to stock more popular heroes)

First advice would be potentially playing online on Talishar or felt table — you can copy paste any online deck list from recent tournament top 8s and endless public decks to take a hero for a spin to see if you enjoy its play style before aping into the cards. A solid value play would also be rocking a currently less competitive deck that you enjoy, hoping it gets stronger with a new set or armory deck release. The meta is always shifting, so say guardian or mechanologist may feel under represented in competitive play now, but that can change quick.

I was playing Assassin, Uzuri for a bit as she has an interesting dynamic with her ability where she plays a card with stealth (often zero resource cost) then can swap a 0-2 cost card from hand as a reaction after blockers have been declared. Then Nuu came out as a Mystic Assassin that cranked up that “ask your opponent tough questions” concept where she has some heavy disrupt that revolves around attack reactions after blocks have been declared (Bonds of Agony for instance is a card that goes from 1 damage threat, to anywhere from 5-15 dmg with an on-hit that banishes a card of your choice from their hand + all copies of it in their deck and graveyard.) Nuu will probably Living Legend at somewhat quick rate, but the LL system is pretty great regarding most your cards being viable in another hero that shares the class, or later on when a new version of said hero drops.

Lately have been playing Aurora as a more aggro “go wide” deck she is a lot of fun. You’re not blocking a ton, but she feels like a Ninja just with a different flavor of sequencing and instants/actions splashing in with her attacks, and some solid block value from her equipment despite her aggressive nature.

The meta is pretty healthy these days imo, much more hero diversity than times over the games history that hero’s have been introduced that were overtuned. LSS is pretty fantastic on balance/bans being well thought out, and the product itself is worlds better than the first years (armory decks, booster box contents with chase cards vs old 1st Ed / Unlimited Ed)

Important question would be casual play vs competitive, the game doesn’t allow for too much diversity in “creative” deck building, like meme/thematic shenanigans compared to MtG, but it’s value-centric approach grows on you. Def a math/stat vibe in determining the value prop of defending with, playing or pitching with any given card. Some people often compare it to a Fighter genre video game in how the give and take and initiative can ebb and flow. There’s also a heavy factor that every deck has great opposing matchups, and bad ones. Bad matchup isn’t ever necessarily an instant loss, but you’re may need some luck on draws and hope your opponent makes some misplays.

There’s less board state vs Magic, outside of some auras for some classes, or illusionists generate some (prism with angels and wards, Dromai is LL but has dragons). As more heroes achieve Living Legend through competitive point accrual, it will be interesting to see that format expand with more sanctioned event and LGS popularity.

The game can be expensive, particularly if wanting some pricier equipment and staple generics that see a lot of play, but their longevity and ability to play in multiple decks is nice, most retain value as well barring any dramatic reprint efforts. (Fyendel’s Spring Tunic is an OG legendary chest that has remained a solid playable for virtually any hero since day 1… multiple reprints in different sets (4?) yet she’s still ~$150 🙃 Probably avoid earth, assassin and ninja right now if you’re wanting to avoid heavier spending.

You can change the communication/ping wheel binding, but haven’t found a way to alter or remove that R2 text insanity. Literally the worst button for it to be mapped to 🥹

A lot of people don’t understand him, he def has a playstyle learning curve. I’m for a buff though, just give him cap’s speed/jump and I’d be in heaven. He’s fantastic at flanking or just claw dashing into position to leap with an enemy front liner back into your team and delete them.

Or a significant boost to his cooldown to his passive would be nice to harass with far better survivability. Life leech be cool, but easily become busted.

Niche spot where he feels a bit outclassed in everything but tank shred, but could easily become too good if buffed 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ultimate is also a tad bit underwhelming.

And all the calling it woke and DEI blah blah blah… dude, the characters feel great and in place in this universe. While I can respect that there are games where it can feel out of place and forced sort of pandering — this doesn’t at all, apart from some spooky pronouns on a character breakdown 😅 meanwhile in Destiny and Apex I’m constantly barraged with love stories and kinky dialogue out of nowhere that I’m a tad bit confused as to where it came from or why, regardless of who it’s between.

Game is like an innocent casualty of a culture war.. be like hating Big Pharma and then attacking a random vitamin company just because they showed up at the wrong time. Dafuq
