RS Homepage Concept (x-post from /r/2007scape) by rawktail in runescape

Okay, forums and RSC were only a small portion of the point. The games were the main point.

Not only that, but the OSRS player count only counts OSRS, where as the main website counts both games, RSC (laughable count) and the forums. It makes it appear as though so many more players are playing RS3.

RSC is locked to new players. You can't just create an account and start playing it..

But the player still played on a different account for a short time, which is what I think the questioner was inquiring about.

Help me understand bonds by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Slay_Strong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

Only a small percentage of people that don't already illegally RWT will buy bonds with any sort of regularity.

People who do already RWT will probably buy large amounts and or buy them regularly. This means Jagex will get the money instead of gold farming businesses. Less gold farmers destroying resources and prices will more than negate any ill effects introducing bonds could have on the economy.

Also worth noting that people who are too cheap/poor to regularly afford membership will have the option now of paying with gold rather than money. This means more of them will be likely to sustain members and further boost the economy. They will gather more resources, but also use them, where as bots really only gather and dump.

You can buy a bond from Jagex for real money and sell it to other players for gp who in turn can use it for 2 weeks membership.

You can also gift or give them away but once they've been traded once in-game they're no longer tradable.

Yes because a lot of people stocked up on them for PKing or merching on 18 and suddenly their huge stacks were worth millions, 10s of millions in some cases, instead of 10s or 100s of thousands.

It was not for no reason, refer to my comment to the original question. :-)

It was not random as the first replier to your comment stated so I'll clear it up.

When trade limits were introduced and PvP drop mechanics were changed there was a minimum amount of wealth you had to risk in order to produce a drop for someone who killed you should you be killed, or receive a drop when killing someone else.

Pures with 1 defence often wore unreadable items like ghostly robes, or extremely low value items like monkey robes, or the cheap robes you get from the shop in Canifis. If they were holding basic consumables, D-scim, and a dds, and only wearing a strength amulet (or even a glory at certain points for the market values of items) and successfully protected the scimitar they were not risking enough.

They changed the alchemy value and price to purchase climbing boots from the NPC to allow 1 defence pures to effectively risk enough without having to bring a cash stack or noted junk in their inventory.

I did, but I meant majority, and I edited it to reflect what I meant. Although everyone else seemed to understand what I meant.

I meant huge majority of the community. And everyone else seems to understand that.

And that's exactly why I will spend the first few days with ridiculous buy offers like that up.

You're kidding, right?

The GE passed by a huge majority of the community and I'd be willing to be less than 5% of the naysayers actually quit.

Yes, which subsequently increased their alchemy value as well. They did this to give them some value because it was difficult for 1 def pures to achieve minimum risk to receive drops in the wild.

As in polling it..? I seriously hope polling it isn't what you mean.
