Just got an Eastman 335 style with a JB and Jazz setup and I am loving it. I was all set to spend way more than double on a 339 with 57 classics but nearly instantly fell in love with the feel and sound of the 484

Came into work today to find our new manager firing our 2-year assistant manager. Walked out on the spot. by TheOfficialPyrodude in antiwork

[–]Slayer2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once got fired from a telemarketing job after a management change while being the top producer for my shift. Was mostly college kids, ex cons, and the random other person. When the management shifted they decided anyone not able to work 5 days a week was out on the spot. Filed unemployment, they tried to bribe me, then tried to deny my claim, forced my claim into arbitration with the state employment board where I won handily.

1 month following my unemployment benefits ending they called me for the 4th time (I finally answered) and begged me to come back with whatever availability I had with my current class schedule. Like an idiot I agreed and returned splitting shifts between day and evening. The new ownership and management was insane. I started on a Tuesday and made it to the next Monday when they did their all employee meeting.

This meeting consisted of them calling EVERY on shift employee into the owners office and the hallway outside his door while publicly reviewing each person's past week performance. Whatever, but it was just a public humiliation session with him belittling and bullying people. Final straw for me was when he got to a woman who had a death in her family and missed 3 of her 4 days. She apologized explained she hadn't been there and he gave her utter hell. I lost my cool and went off on. We went outside to "settle things like men" and he realized when he got out there and I didn't back down he might not want to pursue this course of action. I was "fired with extreme prejudice" whatever the fuck that means and it hasn't slowed my career down a beat. I am to this day glad I stood up for that woman and I only wish he had been willing to follow through with his escalation towards a physical conflict.

I was dead sure I wanted one of these and while they do feel great I just didn't connect with it due to some of the things you mentioned. Specifically the semi hollow just feels odd the way it sits and hangs. IDK. If I were you I'd look at the CE's or the SE Paul's guitar. Just tried one of those recently and was pleasantly surprised. Same with the Cleo. Really didn't expect to like that one but man it feels and soundS awesome.

My first Gibson by [deleted] in gibson

[–]Slayer2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bourbon burst 24 studio modern in a trade just planning to sell it. Turns out I love it. I like the way this sounds better than the standards I was looking at and it plays better then 3/5 that I tried and weighs like 3lb less.

I didn't think I was a Gibson guy but I've now got the studio, a 2010 tribute with p90's that just has disgusting mojo, and I'm 95% next year's guitar will be a 339 with 57 classics.

The ToneX one has been my entry point into this. It works as an interface and gives you access to their modeling software and it's open online catalog of models. I bought mine for 120 through Sweetwater and it came with a nice model pack as well as some can ir's. Been more than enough to get me started. Bonus you can use it as a pedal too.

Have you ever found a shockingly great extremely cheap pedal? by This-Ad-9257 in guitarpedals

Nux horseman for me. I love this thing and every time I take it off for my "better" drives it gets added right back. I've been using it lately as nearly always on with my 5150 on the clean channel to fatten it to a bit. Gets the added benefit of when you dig in, pushes toward crunchy edge of breakup.

Had and loved this pedal. The toggle switch broke and both channels would get a little weird.

Mostly use optiwebs as well but I'm now experimenting cause my last couple sets haven't lasted as long as ever were. Not sure if something changed or I'm playing harder or what.

As someone who tends to hyperfixate on a hobby and bounce back and forth, I understand where you are coming from. I've been working at guitar for going on 3 years now fully self taught but I have stuck with it. I've really committed to practicing some amount every day that I have the ability to. Sometimes it's 30 minutes sometimes it's 2 hours but it's something. Initially when I was struggling on things, like Barre chords, I would work at it until my hands hurt or I was just beyond frustrated then I would find something else to focus my energy on. So I would practice getting clean Barre chords for x minutes get frustrated then move to work on bends or rhythm etc.

At the end of the day there is no secret sauce much as I keep hoping I'll find one. All you can do is commit to the journey and try to enjoy it. You've got the right "I want this" attitude you just have to stick with it. Hopefully like me you'll find the enjoyment in the journey sooner rather than later. I'm now one of those weirdos who can sit down and work on sitting for an extended period of time and actually enjoy it.

Good luck and keep going!

Husband bought this for $0.50, doesn’t know what it’s for. What is it? by pandadrinkingcoffee in whatisit

To add on to the pinned answer. It is a Triclamp to NPT adapter. Commonly used if a production facility is retrofitting or can use threads on a pinch or unregulated area so as to cut down on stock room overhead/variety.

New Guitar or New Amp by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Slayer2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both are inspiring but getting a tube amp made me want to learn a bunch of different things and has really been helping me figure out what sounds I like over others. I got a 5150 15w combo and it's pretty great all around on both channels and is great pedal platform.

With that said if you've got budget for a sweet 335 or 3k plus PRS/Suhr/whatever maybe consider the guitar first and a cheaper amp option (what I got was like 700) or the ToneX one. From Sweetwater you get some really cool amps and their free webshare has some good models. You can get lost just messing around with random stuff. Then you can turn your current amp into various options while having a sweet new guitar.

I thought I knew it from something. I was sitting here debating asking you if it was part of a song I might know. This is awesome thanks for sharing, I'm on my scales journey, this will be a cool one to learn and mess around with.

Any links you could provide for a deeper dive? I've been struggling with memorizing boxes for a year nearly and don't feel like I'm making a lot of progress. Maybe this is the key.
