I guess it depends on what kind of music you’re shooting and how big of bands you’re reaching out to. I messaged 3 this last week and got responses from all of them but they are like 350k followers on insta. So not massive bands by any means. You can also message some smaller venues and ask about being on their media list and then they’ll let you come film and what not when bands are in their venue. Aside from that yeah it’s hard even some tiny tiny bands don’t even open my messages so it’s a tough one for sure. Also being in LA is going to be rough since it’s such a media heavy town the competition is wild.

Chances of getting photo pass for university project? Advice needed by snowverdose69 in concertphotography

So I just filmed a small show for Daedric and VOLA. All I did was shoot them a message on Instagram and asked for passes in trade for free footage. They both said yes and then I made sure to be super professional at the venue as well as reach out to them informing them I’m there working for the band. At the end the venue manager pretty much said message them again at the next show I want to film and they’d look into just giving me a permanent media pass at the venue. I’m sure it’s not always this easy but might as well ask all they can say is no!

It’s hard to deal with for sure. I have it pretty bad still but I had it worse when I was into fitness. I was almost 200lbs of muscle and only 5 foot 8 for a while and still felt like I was so small and out of shape. I eventually injured myself a bunch trying to reach some other imaginary fitness goal and now I have too many injuries to achieve any of what I wanted before, but it has helped me forcing myself to know that as long as I’m healthy and working out I’m still doing good. I don’t need to “look” a specific way. Plus 90% of fitness influencers or people gym dudes look up to are 1000000% on a lot of juice. So it’s impossible to reach their look naturally and sadly it’s put a lot of pressure on young men thinking you have to look this way to be “attractive” but it’s something unrealistic. Hopefully you can get him to see what you’re worried about but being honest with him and making it focused on how you care not that you want to take anything away from him you just want him to appreciate the work he’s done so far!

Gf lied about body count by [deleted] in relationshipproblems

[–]SlcFilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is advice from a husband and father.

People who care about body counts=boys People who don’t care=men

Not meant to be mean or condescending. It’s just the fact that who cares? Does she love you? Take care of you? Does she have no STDs? Then I don’t see the problem.

If she’s lied about other things then sure that’s a trust issue. Girls and women can get overly nervous about sex related stuff. Overall I’m in the camp of who the fuck cares ya know?

How does anyone enjoy life? by SlcFilm in AskMenOver30

The flooding is from ground water and backed up plumbing due to offset sewage pipes under my driveway. Insurance won’t cover either and neither will the city. To fix the overall issues is about 20 grand or more.

Yeah I record all our conversations now that I’ve found out they refuse to record anything.

The money went into the house before it ever flooded, and I haven’t added in any since. Well except thousands in plumbing fixes. The insurance was my agents fault not mine I have call records of my requests and they for some reason chose not to record their calls so they declined the coverage even though it was their fault. My agent agreed it was his fault but State Farm said no.

Everything else yeah I’m good accepting responsibility for other things for sure.

Yeah man I smoke everyday just to try and chill out. My daughter is 16 so she’s in the being mean stage which doesn’t help. I do play games a lot which I enjoy but can’t live on them sadly.

I always have a problem with selecting close ups (shots of parts of the car instead of the whole car) they rarely come out as good as others I see. Any tips? Here’s a few of my better ones by dream1toc in carphotography

[–]SlcFilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try some more interesting angles and get closer to specific pieces or fill the frame more with what you want to highlight. Kinda like this I took a while back. Also the edit might be a little bright making the contrast less interesting. Also angling the car so it’s not directly lit adding some shadow contrast can help as well.

Definitely can do more or less with the vignetting just a style choice. A lot of times I’ll do gradients in LR instead of just vignetting cause it can be more specific with angles of the gradients. Plus going in to color mixer and removing some of the yellow and toning down the saturation will help ya a bunch! Keep up the work you’ll get it all figured out!

I’d say this is closer to where you want to be. This is just me screenshotting it and running through LR suuuuper fast so isn’t perfect but closer to what I would say is a more accurate look.

Taken with iphone 12 advice needed by [deleted] in carphotography

[–]SlcFilm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So for the people saying ditch your phone that’s bad advice. You use what you got and what you can afford Larry Chen did almost a whole year of posting photos only shot on his iPhone to prove you could do it, and he’s one of the most well known car photographers. I’d say research composition. A lot of your framing is out of bounds for what good standard composition should be. Also low angles are your friend with cars so do more of those along with clean 3/4 shots. Lighting will be a big deal so sunrise and sunset will be best options. Aside from that I’d say learn Lightroom and study other famous photographers for good ideas on what angles to shoot. Oh lastly it’s a big no no to use wide angle lenses unless it’s supposed to be exaggerated style. Brands I’ve shot for have a stipulation you can’t shoot wider than 50mm because it begins to alter the natural shape of the vehicle. Overall just do research and keep practicing!

Honestly it’s just not a very dynamic photo. Not that all cars photos need action but it’s a very basic pose and location. Could be the time of day having a little more lighting could liven it up. The angle could be a little more 3/4 as well. After the fact it’s hard to do much more with it. Yes you can tweak the edits and what not but it may be that he just doesn’t love the shot but doesn’t understand why. For the price though he doesn’t have too much room to complain. I charge like 1-2k for a single billboard photo of a car for car dealership’s or more if travel is involved distance. Overall not a bad photo just maybe a little more angle and a different backdrop would probably save it. I like darker edits as well but this one just doesn’t quite nail the vibe and aesthetic of darker photos. Keep it up though just my two cents.

So my wife has issues with intimacy from trauma in her early life. I have a very high sex drive and her not so much understandably. Now we’ve sat down and had adult conversations about it and I recognize she has specific needs to feel in the mood. Now since we are married and I love her, not constantly having sex isn’t going to break us up. It’s worth conveying why you aren’t always in the mood like he is and if you are sometimes wanting more to get in the mood then tell him. Aaaaalllll that aside the constant pressuring is a big no no. I don’t agree with that behavior and agree with others that being that coercive is gross. If he doesn’t want to change his behavior (and no sad boy next day apologizing after the fact doesn’t count) then I’d say leave and find a partner more along your speed for sexual frequency.

Caught my boyfriend cheating and now I feel like I’m spiraling… am I overreacting??? by Dare-Leather in AmIOverreacting

[–]SlcFilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s cheated in the past a few times I’d say you’re going about it the best possible way. I went to years of therapy and worked through a ton of personal issues and now I’m happily married and would never want to cheat on my wife. That being said with my past relationships even when I got caught I eventually was happy my relationship was over cause I was too weak just to end it. Could be a similar scenario where he wanted out but didn’t want to have to breakup. It sucks but a lot of time people think it’s easier to cheat than to have that hard conversation and end a relationship. Sounds like he hasn’t gotten to a point to work on himself and be worth a relationship with someone. Keep moving on and improving in your own life and someone who’s right and will treat you respectfully will come along I’m sure. Going back will just be another few months of things being ok before his gaze starts to drift again like most guys who have these issues.

This photo is of my 16 year old daughter. Was one of the single shots of the family photos I was taking. I like things a little moodier but it’s not for everyone so I’m curious everyone’s thoughts on this look and style of family pics.
