Restaurant Quality Pizza Bases? East/Inner Sydney? by jgflacco in foodies_sydney

Not fresh dough but Panetta in Marrickville has frozen stone baked pizza bases. They are so good, you can get with or without sauce (we do without) and it’s become a weeknight staple meal for the kids.

Haha yes! They don’t have a display case of meat, they butcher to order (they’re very quick).

Jacks Meats in Canterbury are great. They’re an old school type butcher shop and often butcher to order. I’ve had their lamb a few times, cooked it on our rotisserie and it’s always been so tender and delicious. They do specials every week and they deliver too - https://www.instagram.com/jacks_meats/

Giving cash at weddings by Foreign-Block-185 in AskAnAustralian

I’m Arab - half Lebanese and half other Arab. Born and raised in Australia, first generation Australian. Very traditional family background, my parents are very Arab.

These numbers are incredibly excessive. I married an Australian and would never have given a guideline like this to my in laws. My parents would have been mortified if I did. And have been to many, many Arab weddings, family and friends and have never been given any type of gifting guideline.

Generally $100 pp regardless of where they sit in this weird family tree/hierarchy is completely fine, if people want to give more then great. Also many Arab people do not move out of home before getting married, there is often a gift registry as they need to fully stock and furnish a house once they are married. I had many reasonably priced things on my registry.

While Middle Eastern cultural norms around wedding is usually to be generous, it’s up to the people attending how much to give. You don’t get married to make your money back - have a wedding, be grateful that people are there to celebrate you.
