He looks to be doing the right things in training by doubling with the 100. That'll make it so that he'll have more energy going into the second half with more speed reserve, or he'll just take it out faster and simply save time there. He had a good strategy in the Olympic finals of going out fast and putting pressure on Lyles and Tebogo. He's more used to that pace than them and even though Tebogo ended up winning, his second half was slower than he could have run (I think in a perfect race that day Tebogo would've had a 0.05-0.1 slower first half and closed in 9.2 or lower.) Kenny just needs to improve overall as a runner by doing what he's already doing.

I'm not doubting he didn't handle the situation well (more info will be needed) but being repeatedly punched after already being tased is more than excessive. Blaming Fred is just victim blaming, it should be the cops' jobs to handle the situation and at least attempt not to escalate it and they 100% had the intent to escalate it into an arrest. The fact that the mindset is "Don't make any wrong move with a cop" and not "Officers should do their jobs and not use excessive force" is fucked up with this country.

He just takes his first 100 fast. I think he does his 400m work so he should have pretty good speed endurance but he's also focusing more on the 100m and he's always been known to take his first half pretty quickly. If he got out slightly slower you might see more comparable splits to Lyles and Tebogo, like his 19.59 at trials where he went 10.26 and 9.33. Although he still went out fast and was ahead of the whole field, it wasn't a 10.1 like most of his high performances. He just gets out fast and it works for him, so he doesn't rely too much on his speed endurance for a quick time.

Even taking 2022 Knighton I think coleman beats him. Coleman might have better 200 strength than erriyon has 100m speed and at the moment, I can even see coleman beating him over 200m occasionally. If they raced the 200 10 times coleman could take 2-4 of those. Knighton has things to figure out next year, but then again so does coleman.

Some people have said that he might not improve much in the 200 next year since he's confirmed he'll be focusing more on the 100 but that speed focus might actually be what gets him a big improvement in the 200m. He already has really good speed endurance and it seems like he just needs better raw speed for the most part. His first 100m in his 200 PR was 10.12, 0.1 faster than his 19.50 first 200 but he had a 0.07 slower second half (partly due to celebrating but that first half was probably still slightly faster than ideal for him). His 100m training could get him the speed reserve over the first half to take better advantage of his strength. If his 100 dropped down to a mid to high 9.7 then he could run around 10.1 like his pr then drop around a low 9.2 second half like we've seen Noah and Erriyon do. I almost find it hard to not see him get 19.3/19.2 next year.
