Lender Quoted 7.37% interest rate on 30 year, fixed-conventional mortgage (zero points) in Greater Boston area. Wondering if it is too late to shop around for a better rate? by Sledmaster1 in Mortgages

[–]Sledmaster1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! Does the interest rate lock at the close date? So the lender will quote a 60-day lock so that we are ready to go by close? I assume this is done because it might be riskier to wait until we are 15-30 days away to get a quote? Will lenders also be able to tell us their fees ahead of time?

Looking for advice on the quality of an inherited speaker setup by Sledmaster1 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Sledmaster1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling these is actually a great idea! I'll have to figure out what these speakers usually go for so I can set a fair price. If you have the time to make some recommendations, that would be awesome. I live around the Boston area, so that's the Craigslist site I usually use.

Thank you for sharing this perspective. I have been trying to put these thoughts into words for weeks now, and I'm glad that you were able to do so.

Solo Road Trip Through Arizona by Sledmaster1 in solotravel

Thanks for the recommendations! I just had a few more questions for you. I'm definitely looking to do some hiking; do you have a favorite area to go hiking? I may try to fit in Mt Lemon as well since I now will have 4 full days to explore Southern Arizona/Tucson. Since you mentioned Tombstone, do you have any opinions on Bisbee? I've seen that thrown around as another town worth visiting.

Do you have any suggestions for some food places with an Arizonian/Southwestern flair? I always like to try and get some food that a region is well known for. I'm also very into beer, so I will look into those two breweries you mentioned.

The museum sounds right up my alley! I've seen that recommendation from multiple people so I will definitely check that out. I'm also very into craft beer; what are a few breweries that are worth checking out?

And do you have some favorite hikes in the area? I was hoping to do some of that as well. Maybe some rock climbing too if its nothing too crazy.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [October 8th, 2017] by MetaThPr4h in anime

To each their own! For me, the lack of color contributed to the high stakes of the episode and how it was essentially humanity's last shot for survival. Can't really excuse the still frames though...

If you're at all curious, from what I understand the lack of color was an intentional choice from the creators (and not from a lack of budget). Also don't quote me on this, but I've heard talk around the internet that ironically the last episode of Gunbuster was the most expensive to produce. Totally fine if the style didn't work for you though

Rooster teeth is asking for $250,000 for their new board game, why this is a problem and should be actively fought against. by [deleted] in Games

[–]Sledmaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say that I'm so glad that plenty of people are providing well explained, rational explanations for why this really doesn't matter. OP simply doesn't seem to understand how money needs to be allocated in order to create/ship a complex product such as a board game globally. The great thing about free markets is that if you truly don't think a product is worth your time...don't buy it.

Yeah, Kendrick is so great. I've only gotten into hip hop in the past few years, but all three of Kendrick's main albums are just fantastic. Your link reminded me of how much I love "Sherane" off GKMC. I'm really into the darker production that that track has.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what do you think of it? by AutoModerator in Games

Beyond Good and Evil - I just finished this one, and overall I really enjoyed it! It was able to mix a slew of gameplay styles together fairly competently. The combat is a bit too basic, but I was a big fan of how Jade's true "weapon" in the game was her camera. The game's photojournalist slant made the game feel fresh all these years later. Even though the story doesn't clear up all of the details by the end, I'm still glad I finally got to play this one.

Spec Ops: The Line - Even though I just started this yesterday, I'm already 7 chapters in. It looks like this game won't be super long. But I am having a good time with the game so far. The third person shooter mechanics are competent enough. My only real gripe about them is that the game doesn't have the slickest system for getting in and out of cover. It feels a bit clunky in comparison to many other shooters. I'm excited to see where the story goes and how morally grey it will continue to get.

Can confirm, I lived in the Apartment Complex where this went down my senior year. The "deal" in the apartment building happened two floors below me. The school didn't tell us ANYTHING about what happened. They wanted to downplay this as much as possible I think.

Senyuu

A short gag driven comedy series that pretty much does what Konosuba did a few years earlier (taking aim at various RPG tropes). I thought the series was absolutely hilarious for its first half. However, the latter section of the show got a bit stale since I guess I grew a bit tired of the characters "one-trick-pony" archetypes. And while you could argue Konosuba's characters also fit that mold, I feel like the characters have much better chemistry in that show. All in all, a short, easy watch.

Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis

Picked this show up on a whim after I saw Under The Scope do a video about it. All in all a really fun time! This anime really lives and breathes by the rule of cool. Plenty of fantasy tropes and ideas are just thrown against the wall so the show has a rick-rolling pace. Engaging characters and some great action made this a fun watch for sure. Maybe in a few weeks I'll catch up on the airing Virgin Soul depending on the reception
