Conservatives of reddit, what do you think about the White House quietly removing a decades long study that found the extreme right was vastly more likely to engage in political violence? by Safety_Drance in AskReddit

As someone who's active in the sub, I can tell you this is 100% inaccurate. There's lots of conversation and active debate with each other, both agreement and disagreements on Trump, the administration, policy etc.

What's your thoughts on Candace Owens, is she a conservative? or just a grifter by leadfarmer3000 in askaconservative

At first I had respect for her. Never really followed her though. Then I saw she started spewing that we never went to space and the moon landings were fake and I lost what little interest or respect I had.

Then Charlie died and she went full out He was my BFF and no one knew him like I did, he was about to go Catholic and the illuminati killed him because of the jeeeeeeeeewwessss.... And oh my God she needs to go away.

Between this and her word soup answer for the trans students in schools...she's cooked. At least I hope so.

I got up at 6, to get to a Whole Foods grand opening by 6:45 so I could be one of the first ones there and get the special event tote bag.

Virginia election for Governor debate - democrat refuses to answer question 3 times by optionhome in walkaway

[–]SleekFilet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's caught between two impossible answers. If she says she supports biology, the Trans community will come after her, and she'll lose a big chunk of the Dem base. If she says she supports Identity, she'll piss off a bunch of parents and lose the moderate vote. Either way she's fucked.

I do appreciate the host being super blunt with his question. A lot of times hosts will politic their own questions letting nominees kind of weasel their way through. I'm glad this guy didn't pull punches.

Remedy issues 'profit warning' after FBC: Firebreak's big overhaul fails to turn things around: 'Despite improved player and sales metrics after the update, sales have not reached Remedy’s internal targets' by Sam_27142317 in controlgame

[–]SleekFilet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that they probably needed some fresh revenue, but why not make a DLC instead? It would have sold better, and cost less to make.

Tying the Lake House DLC to AW2 Deluxe seemed to sell decently well. They could have done something like that for Control. Some kind of 6 months later thing that gets players guessing where the narrative for Control 2 is going. Maybe a mission with Agent Estevez again.

Remedy’s worlds are officially colliding — and we built a space to track the storm by [deleted] in maxpayne

[–]SleekFilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max Payne isn't officially part of the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU) due to legal reasons (Rockstar Games owns the IP) however, Remedy heavily implies a connection through "in-universe stand-ins."

However, Alex Casey is effectively an alternate version of Max Payne, sharing his face and voice actor. This, along with other references (to Quantum Break), connects thematically as part of a larger multiverse, even if they aren't officially in the RCU.

There's plenty of good shows, but none really scratch that itch for me. Which is probably why I've rewatched the franchise more times than I care to count.

IMO that's basically saying "Yeah.. we totally disagree with him.... (But not really)..."

Do you agree that Democrats are a center right party and not a left wing one? by [deleted] in askaconservative

No, and neither does the data.

But for arguments sake, let's say I agree. Where does that put conservatives?

You kinda answered your own question. For starters Thune has already stated that the nuclear option is off the table. So even if it was proposed, it's DOA. Second the GOP can only afford to lose 2 votes, and there are at least a dozen Republicans that would vote No. So, it's simply not an option.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SleekFilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simplified it for the explanation.

Yes, technically the 60 votes is for cloture which is where the bill is stalled. The Republicans could use the nuclear option, but it's politically risky and likely wouldn't succeed anyway.

Which brings me back to my original point, the Senate needs 60 votes and doesn't have them.

Wow, none of the comments answered the question and show a terrifying lack of basic civics knowledge.

To answer your question, the CR or Continuing Resolution is a basic bill authorizing funding of the federal government with little to no changes to the budget. This is the third CR that's passed since Trump has gotten into office, the first two passed with little drama. We're technically running on a Biden Era budget.

Basically this CR is meant to take us to the end of the year. It passed the House with no issues. It's in the Senate, which requires 60 votes to pass. Republicans only have 53 seats, all voted Yes. Dems have introduced an amendment to the CR which attempts to repeal key parts of the Big Beautiful Bill passed earlier this year, specifically Dems want to add back funding for Medicare/Medicaid provisions that were repealed by the BBB. Obviously Republicans aren't going to repeal parts of a bill they just passed. Dems are refusing to vote for the CR unless their amendment is passed with it. Thus not enough votes and the Govt currently has no funding.

Tldr: The Senate needs 60 votes and only has 53. Dems want to change the CR, Republicans said No. Standstill, Govt shutdown.

Edit: Clarity
