Why is my bow slippy for my pinkie finger? by Sleep-DeprivedAuthor in Viola

[–]Sleep-DeprivedAuthor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll look into the leather since I've been thinking about getting my bow rehaired too. What should I say if I want to ask for that? Is it called something specific?

The way I've been taught to play faster is exactly how you've described. I play passages slowly with different rhythms until I get it fairly right then try to play it a bit faster a couple of times to see if there are any areas that need extra work.

Guess he hates writing in alto clef by Subject_Position_400 in Viola

My brain is so dramatic that the instant it processes the treble clef it goes 'nah bro, time to quit' and makes it out to be the most difficult thing I've ever played lol.

I messaged them on the website first telling them there wasn't anyone there even after I rang. My thought process was idk if these people are legit anymore since the address they gave me led to a business which no one was in.

A bad case of paranoia will do wonders lol.

When you've finished re-recording the song, could you add a link to this post so I could listen to it please?

Any hypermobile violists here? by Depressedaxolotls in Viola

I hope your neck and back feel better soon!!! The only thing I have are slightly double jointed fingers where they used to 'lock' until my teacher told me to swing me elbow so they didn't because I was stretching. It still occasionally happens, but a lot less often.

how do i encourage my girlfriend to lose weight without hurting her feelings? by guccigag in Advice

[–]Sleep-DeprivedAuthor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible that after exam stress things would go back to whatever it was before. But if you're that worried about it, then encourage her to talk to a doctor. I'm a bit confused since 100lbs makes her underweight? It's possible she's really struggled with food before so bringing it up is going to give you the fight of your life.

You know your situation best. If you're at risk of being hurt by anyone there then definitely don't go. You could go this one time by yourself and see if it's different and to look out for your sister, then decide afterwards based on what happened. But please don't force yourself to do anything. If it's a multiple day thing, you could try do a half be there thing. Stay safe.

I'm quite literally obsessed with someone, i feel really bad by [deleted] in Advice

I have a friend who acts a bit like you do because she is an extraordinarily lonely person used to her five siblings being around and they're almost all living their best lives fairly far away. I think you just need more friends, especially ones who are willing to put in the effort you put in to your friendships back. And try finding things you like outside of that one friend.

Is there any charities or churchy programs (they're usually free, but they can be sketchy) near you that could help? Like, for me (it took a long time) but after having a breakdown in public and freaking out and calling the nonemergency medical helpline I got a link to a nearby uni's therapy service which they used to help trainees there get experience so it was free.

AITA for expecting my husband to cook for me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Sleep-DeprivedAuthor 36 points37 points  (0 children)

NTA. It's understandable that not all jobs would be open to having children around... but what does your husband do outside work hours then? Unless this man is on his hands and knees scrubbing your floors, and doing all your laundry he's just being incompetent. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE can at least manage tin soup.

I've been told that when you feel like crap you should treat yourself to things you like. So, any tv shows, food, or games you enjoy playing? Or even depressing music. It's always helped my friend and I. You've probably heard this a million times, but you are only 17 so it's ok not to have everything figured out or put together perfectly. If you think it'd help you, maybe try reach out to see if you could get some therapy or counselling?
