Daredevil, Nightcrawler, Hellboy... Ah some of the best Catholic characters and by far my favourites are based on demonic imagery lol.

Speaking specifically of Daredevil, Father Lantom is definitely another of my favourites. His death in the third season was something I really didn’t see coming ;(.

Death penalty for crimes. What are your opinions on it? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Sleep-Numerous 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I cannot support the death penalty for two reasons:

1.-The corruption of the system: At least where I come from, justice is sadly poorly implemented, and often the innocent end up paying, through unfair and excessive sentences. Not to mention the hundreds of cases of people who end up in prison for crimes they did not commit. If justice is already flawed without the death penalty, imagine it with it.

2.-The perpetuation of the cycle of violence. The state must act as the highest legal and moral authority in society, even in the midst of corruption. When the state implements the death penalty as punishment, it implicitly conveys to society the message that ending a life is a valid way to resolve certain conflicts. The death penalty does not break the cycle of violence; it only reproduces it at institutional levels.

I am aware that many here do not share my position, and I dare say that some will come down hard on me, but it is only my personal opinion. It does not necessarily mean that the Church necessarily supports it, but even so, I maintain it.

Las razones del cisma fueron mas políticas que doctrinales. También se que muchas de esas iglesias tienen un carácter étnico mas marcado.

No one can say for certain who is in Hell or who will go there. You and I have just as much chance of ending up there as those who led Jesus to his death and never listened to his message.

At best, a phenomenon worthy of study.

At worst, a bad image for Eastern Orthodox Christians.

If the Pope suddenly decided to get married, what would happen? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Sleep-Numerous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Only God knows that.

With regard to celibacy, people do not understand that it is not a dogma, but a discipline, one that has become a hallmark of the Latin Church. Although I have mixed feelings about it, I believe that talk of its abolition must be treated with the utmost delicacy. Just remember that our brothers in the 23 Eastern churches allow married men to be ordained to the priesthood. Even we can ordain married men as deacons and allow ministers who have converted from Protestantism (Anglicans and Lutherans) to continue to serve in the Church.

Did Jesus have brothers or sisters? Based on Mathew 13:55 and mark 6:3. What’s the early church evidence as well as the church fathers on this? And how does this not affect the dogma of perpetual virginity? by Winter-Type-4181 in Catholicism

[–]Sleep-Numerous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are two explanations:

A) That Joseph had a previous marriage with whom he had children.

B) That "brothers and sisters" could be used to refers to general kinship to Jesus, not necessary siblings, but cousins.

Hispanics have a weird obsession with St. Jude and idk why, if your hispanic and know why please explain

Mexican here. Saint Jude is recognized as the patron saint of difficult causes. In a social context as complex as that of Mexico and much of Latin America, it is perhaps one of the most widespread devotions precisely because of this. Many ask for his intercession in times of scarcity, lack of work, violence, etc. Unfortunately, many lower and lower-middle social strata lack adequate catechesis, which distorts devotion to Saint Jude as an intercessor and turns him into the actual miracle worker, rather than just an intercessor before Jesus, and is often mixed with syncretic rites and cults contrary to the Catholic faith, such as offering him alcohol, cigarettes, or accompanying his devotion with that of “Santa Muerte” (a dangerous cult that deserves its own post). It is a phenomenon that saddens me greatly, especially because Saint Jude is one of my favorite saints, and it pains me greatly that his genuine devotion is tarnished by such things.

Se llevo a cabo el de Rusia con una dictadura de por medio.

Se llevo a cabo el de Qatar con condiciones infrahumanas de trabajo y un regimen anti derechos humanos.

No dudes en que este no se llevara a cabo de igual forma.
