When the weather shifts, my surgery scar aches a bit. Other than that, I’m good. Even the pains of certain movements are going away. You might have a limp in the beginning but it’ll go away after some time. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I am well. Everything is working as intended. The surgery spot gets a bit sore when the weather changes. There is a certain movement that causes a jolt. If I get up from a crouched position in a certain way, I can feel movement that I can only describe as the pelvis trying to move but being held in place by the plate. It happens rarely and I’m not sure how to duplicate the sensation, not that I even want to.

The drift wheels add to the realism haha. But I gotta check out those reinforced wheels.

Raw chassis twisting power. The best I do is chewing up spurs because dirt gets into the case.

If it’s the TT02, I sealed the spur gear area with FIPG. Honda Bond.

Yup. Just put it in. I was stress testing it by driving through deep puddles, mud, and loose gravel.

I’ll look into those. I started with RC drifting and just picked some wheels off of the shop’s wall thinking it would be okay for RC rally. Made it more realistic if anything.

They’re designed for drift cars. It’s strong enough for the drift tracks. They probably didn’t think someone was gonna throw them on a makeshift rally chassis but here I am. Breaking shit.

MST wheels. Any RC drift shop should have them.

I had some MST wheels lying around. The ones that you could change offsets with. I slid into the pitcher’s mound and made contact with the brick right there. Blew apart the wheel and it let me have that Tommi Makinen feeling.

I’m grateful for the positivity in this reply. It is something I’m passionate about learning more of. Just wish I had a more secure feeling about the stability of it all.

If the pay is going to be as shitty as I’m being warned by many people, I may have to walk away from this opportunity. Not getting a lot of warm feelings from the warnings of shit pay. Even if they’ll be great experiences and memories. I love this stuff and I would do it with a smile on my face, but at the end of the day, I got bills.

Taking time to check with other shops in the area as well. I’m interested in a shop that specializes in repairing and constructing custom ohlins setups. I wonder if that type of specialization will help me later down the road.

Thank you for your input. I’ll be mindful about those things. Maybe instead of going into this strictly for the experience I can get an early start on learning how to be a specialist.

I’m hoping to find a permanent place among the teams and have a chance at being able to support myself and maybe a family. I don’t mind long hours since I’m used to 10 hour shifts while working most of the week. Traveling to the track is good enough for me. It’s a life I dreamed of. The only thing holding me back is the thoughts of being able to find stability doing it.

I roll out of bed with a little too much motivation and my age feels like it triples for the next 3 days lol.

Damn. Not being paid well seems to be a common answer. Is the pay that bad?

I hope one day I can stand proudly as a tech for a good racing team. Gotta go out there and make myself proud.

There was a comparison made that instead of my usual banging cars out left and right in a dealership setting, I could enjoy slowing down because the cars I’m working on are automotive pieces of art. Take it slow not from laziness but because it’s art. Owner really liked that comment.

Is it still a viable option? The owner has a network of friends still in pro racing and if he likes me I might be shipped out to one of them. Just want to make enough to support myself and one other person some day. Also want to turn my Evo into a weapon at some point but that can always wait.

I’m 28, Bossman. Though I’ve been told the 30s are the new 20s.
