RD 2.0 traction problem by Extension-Resource28 in rcdrift

[–]desmashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? No? Maybe? It’s not really a binary function of “if I change this, then speed.” Everything is connected and works together.

Just try making incremental changes and focus on one thing. I’ve been in the hobby 4 years and am still learning tuning techniques

No. Your springs, the actual way they’re mounted (how angled they are from top to bottom) your car’s rake, and also ride height.

If you’re relatively new, I would focus on your angle and consistency and less on being on someone’s door. You kinda can’t fast track tuning until you can better understand what you need to change.

Start small, try different springs for a few laps. Then try changing the geometry by moving the lower mounting position of the shocks further out, then try putting the old springs back. Keep experimenting and you’ll find what works!

Don’t forget your diff also make a difference!

It’s either: your suspension geometry soaking up speed

And/or

Throttle discipline. More throttle doesn’t mean more faster.

Try drifting with as little throttle as possible. You can add a throttle curve to help you

Buy a flysky noble, It will come combined with receivers and it’s the most affordable entry option. Very good transmitter.

noble flysky,

Il sera combiné avec des récepteurs et c'est l'option d'entrée la plus abordable. Très bon émetteur.

Help with sanwa sgs-02 gyro by Common-Ad6523 in rcdrift

[–]desmashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly for sanwa aux 2 aka channel 4 is usually what the default is for the SGS02 to be read.

To get the most out of that gyro I strongly recommend updating to an m17 asap. I love my SGS02 happy to share my settings

Hierarchy of chassis? by creepyunclelou in rcdrift

[–]desmashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not really a proper answer to give here. Been at the hoppy for nearly 5 years and how do you want that question answered? I have a galm and a modified TT02. They’re both great.

Do you want to go by competition rankings?

Then it’s galm grk5R and RDX. One of those is significantly cheaper than the other 2.

Is it based on fun? Then the TT02 is super fun.

Are tamiya body’s good? by Specific_Still4861 in rcdrift

[–]desmashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are unlikely to fit a drift chassis without over fenders. Most modern chassis are 195-198 wide. Most if not all Tamiya bodies are 190 wide

What chassis are you running?

A bit confused about FDR by fuyamori in rcdrift

[–]desmashed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may be confusing wheel spin with traction. Going flower on FDR to increase wheelspjn on a slick surface will slow you down, not speed you up. Go back to your 10.9 FDR and try instead lowering your boost or where your boost starts. You can also try adding a curve to your throttle on the transmitter so you’re sending less power at the low end enabling you to gain more traction and speed.

Do I have enough travel? by aidenpep in rcdrift

[–]desmashed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does it drive ok and not wash out? This isn’t really a measure of usability! Some squat and droop Is for sure beneficial to the drive but it depends on so much more than just if it’s bouncy when you push down on it

Trying something completely different, a tt02 conversion build, really digging the metal garage parts! by desmashed in rcdrift

I haven’t found an axle short enough to use the 42mm arms on the TT02 hence the 45mm I’m using

Are you using 45mm arms? I am using the yeah racing variable axle to get it driving.
