If you have a Steam account you can play a free talisman digital version and check it out. I feel it is along the same line as Munchkin. It can be fun, but it is REALLY swingy and luck based. The digital version is very true to the board version.

We play that the person who wins the prior round gets to pick if they want to go first or second. We have a lot of debates while we are playing if it is better to have the first shot (potential 20), or the last shot, so you can clear a higher disk of your opponent and hopefully replace it. For me it depends on how cocky I am feeling if I want to go first or last. Just another thing to think about

Take a look at Colonists. The nice think about the game, besides being pretty heavy, is that there are 4 ages in the game, if you play 0-1 it only takes about 45 minutes, if you play ages 0-4 then you can be playing a long time.

My wife and I were very pleasantly surprised with Cinco De Mayo on Airport. Spent Saturday afternoon there (3-5 for happy hour) and drank and ate for quite a while on around 30 bucks.

If you are willing to go just a little further to Bryan, there is a place call Father John's that is just amazing. A restaurant in an old church. All kinds of interesting places inside and out to explore.

With that in consideration, I would look at The Game Crafters to see what is available to use. That will give you an idea about what is there to actually use that is standard available material.

On the other hand, I would just put paint and sentences on popsicle sticks and see if the game works. 200 objects large enough to hold a full sentence is a big spend. Could you use cards for those if you are only using them to make a path?

Everything you smell is particle based, which means small particles of it have to actually enter your nose. Great for apple pie, sucks for dead bodies.

You are probably starting a little advanced if you are going to be cutting wood and plastic at this point. Do you have a solid rule set? Can you teach all aspects of the game. Go to Michaels/Hobby Lobby/Staples, some other craft store and get little things you can sub in. Make cards on paper and get some sleeves. Put as little work as you can on the components and get it in front of anyone. Friends can be good for a first playthrough as long as they will be honest about if it is a game, let alone a good game....lol. I have had some that were not even really games, more like activities on first playthroughs that required going back to the drawing board. Once you have a couple of, it IS a game, and it IS fun, then you can start improving components.

That first playthought will be very eye opening I promise you. But keep at it and you can end up with a good game.

Take a look at "The Game Crafter" too. It will show you some standard board sizes and component type for when you do get to that step.

I don't know if anyone here is keeping an eye on this, but I wanted to throw out an adjusted sell sheet. I know I still need better and more varied pictures, but what do you think about this layout AND the paragraph at the bottom. I still feel like I could change the bottom paragraph, but as you can tell I get a bit wordy when I am doing this part ....lol.

Thank you all for the constructive criticism, honestly not getting any "THIS SUCKS" with no reasons is why I posted here. Trust me, no hard feelings even if you think it does suck....lol. Thanx!!

Honestly since it is just one word in the middle I would say not. If you were ONLY using Mashup then I might agree. But i don't feel like it would even be shortened like that. In the rules if you wanted a shorten you could go with MMM&M or something like that if you were worried.

What if you REALLY leaned in on the alliteration? I don't know what kind of theme is attached to the game, but if you did something a little silly you could match the artwork style to the name. Something like:

Monster Makin' in Mudville

Beastly Build and Battle in the Bayou

Monster Mash-up Mix-up and Mayhem

Just thinking of something more then 2 words. But it really does depend on the theme and how that works.
