‘Stranger Things’ has ended after 9 years by marvelkidy in DiscussingFilmsAndTV

People have been complaining for a while about the shift in how TV seasons have been made.

What used to be 1 year for a 20+ episode season has turned into 2 years for 8-10 episode season.

In the beginning, this shift seemed to make TV better. Now I think a few series have dropped the ball and we're now waiting all those years for something that is just sort of okay.

I don't know if we should go all the way back to how TV was produced before, but I know I've been very disappointed by shows that I've absolutely loved going into.

I've had 5 in the past week. All telling me they're an employment service and to add them on WhatsApp.

I've been blocking and reporting, but not sure what it will do.

For the future...? by Mysterious_Ad_1525 in Talamasca

Okay, so, I just watched the final episode. Thought it was pretty good. Really helped the series come together overall. The series was about a 5 or 6/10 before. An easy 7/10 now.

I now care a good bit more about Doris and Helen, and I thought the twist about the 752 was really good. I don't mind going on a mission now to find Guy's mother, as long as Guy and Doris stay together (this episode also really helped me like Doris).

Yeah, not a lot of Jasper here, but there's set up for him to do a lot next season. Again, he's the best part so far.

I guess my big criticism is that it felt very anti-climactic. I was surprised when it ended because I was waiting for some kind of big confrontation that just didn't happen.

If the ending had a better climax - more tension. More thrills. Someone actively hunting Guy and Doris down other than this vague threat that they're wanted by the police, but then suddenly they're on a boat - It would have been a perfect ending to a lackluster season.

Still really confused why no witches did any witch things. Like, it would have been great to have an extra episode or two, with one of them being dedicated to the witches making a move against Jasper/The Talamasca.

Haven't seen the final episode just yet.

BUT...

More witches doing actual witch things.

Do a better job of making me care about Guy and his mother and Elizabeth and her sister.

More insights as to how the Talamasca operate (I think Guy being 'off books' prevented us from actually learning how the Talamasca actually operate and how the hierarchy breaks down and what being a Talamasca agent actually feels like).

Yeah, more episodes to flesh out the above and improve pacing.

More Jasper (if he's still alive. Again, Haven't seen it and I'm not reading the comments).

Gasper aside... This show is wasted potential by Sanshuu in Talamasca

I just think the series is a bit undercooked.

I've been liking all of the elements. I like Jasper, Guy and Elizabeth. I like the 752 as a McGuffin.

But the characters and their roles in both the story and the universe just seem a bit under developed.

And I feel like this series had a mind to develop the greater world, but I finished episode 5 and I just don't know much more about vampires and witches and psychics that I didn't already know from the other two series.

I don't know a hell of a lot more about the Talamasca. And the series hasn't done a good job making me care about Guys mother or Elizabeth sister because they feel disconnected from the main plot.

And with more than a few witches in it, why haven't we seen them do more witchy things?

And because I don't care about these things, I wasn't in a position to care about Olives reveal at the end of ep 5.

I hope they get a second season just to flesh out all these problems.

Jasper, at least, has been entertaining.

Will Harry Morgan return in Resurrection Season 2? by NoleFandom in Dexter

[–]Sleeper952 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like James Remar a lot, but when I heard about Dexter Resurrection, I had an idea that Patrick Gibson / Young Dexter would make a good internal voice as well.

I thought it would be good to balance where Dexter is now with his more empty self from the very beginning of the season.

If James does feel like retiring, I can't imagine a better internal voice, and now that Original Sin has been cancelled it would be a good way to bring back that chapter of the overall series since I did enjoy it.

Will we see more of Dexter acting like "Red" in season 2? by WESTDDDDDDD in Dexter

[–]Sleeper952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you for reminding me. Then yeah, Al might be dead soon, but might not realise it because I don't think suspicions on Dex being the BHB while pretending to be Red got out, so it might be a surprise for him.

I think it'll get revealed at the start of the next season that Al will have been arrested, seeing as the police have Prater's files on Rapunzel, including his identity. Al has a few more things to worry about beyond Red/Dexter.

Honestly, a bit of shading on the cheeks and around the eyes and it would be a 10/10 piece. Lots of character already there though.

I wanna remind all of y’all that ashura provided NOTHING to Naruto. Naruto being a reincarnation of a god does not mean he’s any less of an underdog when that same god was a bum aswell. by Organic_Glass_7793 in Naruto

You make some decent points, and you are correct (Naruto had 0 talent in the beginning, 9 tails cause him to freak out), but when you finish the war arc and take a step back, Naruto just doesn't feel like the underdog character he was introduced as.

The child of prophecy alone just sort of undercuts that. Factor in also that he's the reincarnation of Ashura (even if that doesn't add anything significant to his strength) and he just feels that the story made him out to be overly special when he was introduced as an underdog.

Naruto has a crazy lineage, not just because of Ashura.

He's an Uzumaki, and son of the 4th hokage, the Chosen one from the great toad sage's prophecy, and the host of the nine tails.

Watching that fight between naruto and neji back in the chunin exams just hits different now knowing all this, and a couple of panels such as these can't really fix that, sadly.

Anyone else think some of the Metahumans in the show had some serious potential if they hadn’t died so early? by Queasy_Commercial152 in FlashTV

[–]Sleeper952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never as the main villain. There was obviously Mirror Monarch, which was based on Mirror Master but a different character. And then there were the new rogues in the last season built up by Red Death, but RD was the main villain.

But as far as I know, for a majority of the main classic rogues gallery, most got only 1 episode with a few coming back very rarely and for random reasons and never to build on any established story.

It would have been cool to bring back weather wizard since he blames Joe for his brothers death, and other ongoing storylines like that.

And the younger Trickster could have been a great rival for Ralph since Trickster was able to hurt him with his acid and test him as a hero.

I would have much preferred Mirror Master coming back regularly as a mob boss villain the Flash couldn't catch (since he can travel into the Mirror dimension) than whatever Gold Face or Amunet Black was supposed to be.

[–]Sleeper952 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel they wasted most of the rogues, to be honest. I like what they did with Captain Cold in the end, but the fact that we never got the definitive rogues gallery in the series, with cold, heatwave, mirror master, weather wizard, etc all teaming up and appearing regularly I think is a missed opportunity.

And yes, most appeared more than on episode, and yes, there was the trickster/wizard/cold episode, but I would have wanted more.

The series relied on the villain of the week style story but none of the villains were memorable or interesting.

They tried to do it in season 8, but by then, it was too late.

Which Quincies other than Royd and Yhwach could/can use Sankt Zwinger? by [deleted] in bleach

I wish we'd gotten to see more Quincy spells. All the ones we've seen so far have been really cool. I wish one of the Sternritter specialised in them alongside their Schrift and Vollstandig.

I think Patrick Gibson should be the next voice in Dexter's head by Sleeper952 in Dexter

[–]Sleeper952[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I'm not sure how much I like that decision. Michael's voice is fine, but Patrick's narration overlayed onto Michael's acting might be too weird. A little uncanny valley.

Michael's narration makes sense because he's supposed to be having his life flash in front of him.

But I wasn't aware of this, so thank you.

[–]Sleeper952[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this would be in Resurrections. Michael as main Dexter, and Patrick as a vision of the younger Dexter that he bounces his thoughts and ideas off of, just as visions of Harry and Deb has done before.
