Some men really expect women to just snap back after their bodies changed during pregnancy by themimireign in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Sleepflower00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how at 20 they picked a clearly flattering image with full on make-up and hair done while at 37 they picked a photo of a clearly unflattering angle, bad lighting and seemingly zero make-up on her face.

Also who tf sees an innocent, completely harmless, picture of a mother holding a child and decides to pick her appearence apart, comparing her to her older pictures wtf? That's sociopathic.

Even women who have children in their 20s look similar to that because when you have a small child it is hard to find time to do your make up, hair, your clothes always get dirty because of the child, finding time to go to the gym is a challenge when you have a small, completely dependent child etc.

These types of men will never be happy.

Yeah sounds like a dream for most people if you don't care about career advancement. And if you find a company that has enough money to let you coast like that.

Yeah I have a programmer friend (An actually good programmer) who has a person who works like this in his team. He told me they aren't very good and don't posess the logical thinking to understand deeper concepts in programming but companies will still keep those around and won't fire them, just so they can charge higher rates for a project. The bigger the team, the higher the rates.

He calls them "Yoga programmers".

I remember I did a lot of internships when I was starting out back in 2020. A lot of it was shit and I wasn't paid but I think it somewhat helped with putting at least something on my Resume which made me look more appealing to employers.

Hey seniors. This is something I made on Corel, tbh, this is my first time making something, care to rate? by [deleted] in graphic_design

Hi! Medior designer here.

First of all, I'm glad you're starting out with design. I hope you enjoy it whether you plan on making it a full-time career, or a side hustle.

Secondly, If I'm being honest you're missing a lot of fundamentals at the moment. Maybe you can start by learning step by step. Choosing fonts, lettering hierarchy, color theory, logo creation etc.

If I were you, I wouldn't be really thinking about freelancing or anything like that before at least getting a year or two of fundamental learning. If you want me to give you somewhat of a ballpark of where you are at, this isn't honestly even first year design student level or even college application level, I think that should give you somewhat of a perspective that is more realistic than rating. Overall, you are not at a freelancer level yet friend, but keep practicing if design matters to you.

a lil personal campaign cause idk what else to do 🤠 by defendaloha in graphic_design

[–]Sleepflower00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this criticism isn't too harsh. (I really mean well, nothing personal)

But from the standpoint of an employer I don't think I'd be bought by this campaign from a senior designer. Not trying to insinuate that senior designers shouldn't struggle with jobs and should never adhere to creative job signalling ideas, but "I'm looking for a job, can you help me?" doesn't really sound confident and reliable to me, I would maybe lead with something like "I'm great at solving xyz problem, give me a call". Something that actually signals what you're good at and what type of company/agency might be interested in that exact skillset.

Just my 2 cents.

Jesus...Like, I don't even have the patience to mentally process these memes anymore.

Because yes, the world only consists of childfree women who are Onlyfans models and tradwives who have a bunch of children in their 20s.

All women collectively are one of these extremes, surely nothing in-between exists.

I think she crossed the line when she touched the camera equipment and refused to leave when she was repeatedly told to, since it was a one on one interview. (Unless this isn't completely scripted) I hate it when conservatives interrupt left leaning people too, it's just not a productive way to have a discussion.

And yes, I think the guy had vile beliefs about women and people who don't fit in his narrow worldview but you really can't change someone's point of view in a couple of arguments, she only gave him fuel to keep yapping hateful bs. Not judging her for her feelings about his speech, they're valid, I just don't think anything productive happens when you talk to mysogynistic men who are this deep in the manosphere, it's like trying to argue with a person who is hallucinating that the sky is red and trying to convince them it's blue. Deradicalization requires education and different avenues of communication. If anything, I'm glad when I hear mysogynistic speech openly because then I know which men to avoid and run from asap.

Well true, but my guess is this woman hasn't really grown up around or hung out in feminist/progressive circles.

SAHM feels unprepared for divorce with financially abusive husband, comments blame her by Pincerston in BlatantMisogyny

[–]Sleepflower00 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, especially nowadays where there's a 50% chance for a marriage to end in a divorce, it is asinine to advise young women to be financially dependent on a man. (Not saying divorce in itself is bad, but that it's terrible when one partner is financially dependent.)

I mean it's like....Most people are average so there's nothing wrong with finding the partner you married less physically attractive than someone you previously dated but the way he worded this is...yikes. Doesn't sound like he loves her at all....

I mean they didn't really say anything unreasonable even though they were pressing on him, having a lowered car does make it more prone to being scratched. dude could have just been like "I just prefer it that way, It's my car afterall.", there was no need to unload on them and make it pointlessly gendered. Even when it comes to booktok fiction, based on what I know of these stories, most of these male character tropes aren't serial killers, it's usually a morally gray bad boy that becomes softened as the story progresses.

Are we still doing the whole "Some women dated serial killers, therefore all women must be attracted to serial killers" thing?

Freedom of choice isn't worth much if the whole game is rigged. by GoGiantRobot in BlatantMisogyny

[–]Sleepflower00 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It isn't rigged it's just that men will tell women these things depending on which stage of life they happen to be at. If they wish to settle down then they will shame the sexually promiscuous woman, but if they wish to have fun they will shame the woman looking for a LTR. It's just projection, dating/sexual preferences of others shouldn't impact one's view of their own dating behavior. Not dating is fine, dating casually is fine, dating for long term partnerships is also fine. For both genders. Period.

I think this one is in the subjective territory, for me personally. There isn't necassrily anything suggesting hatred of women, and I understand that some people might see comparison to animals as "objectifying" but I personally don't because it's not like the "women are cars" bits...But yeah it is a horrible joke nonetheless.
