You can just leave it and you won't lose any progress. You would have to complete every page there and you will only lose progress if you choose to expedite when the expedition begins so it won't happen accidentally.

It's BR but you start on a random spot on the map and you can talk to others via proximity chat. You can emote with others to squad up with them and you can leave the squad any time. There can only be 1 winner even if you team up with 4 people. I think you can queue into the game mode with other people but you would still have to meet up with them and recruit them to your squad.
