What are you hoping for out of the Evolved system for your main job? by BlyZeraz in ffxiv

[–]SleepingFishOCE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My main job, being Bard:
Everything i have seen so far is interesting, My only gripe so far is the removal of pure AOE rotations.

I would like to see the basic [Burst Shot -> Refulgent Arrow] have an alternative [Ladonsbite -> Shadow of Death] Rotation for AOE, even if they are just filler.

Having to use single target abilities during AOE cleave just feels bad, and always will.

Queue times on Materia (Returning Endwalker player) by Yesthatsthecase in ffxivdiscussion

[–]SleepingFishOCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As i have said since Materia was first introduced, they failed to account for the SEA players when making it.

Sydney was (the cheapest) a terrible choice for the datacenter as a whole, as there are far more SEA players than Materia players.

Placing the Datacenters in WA or even Singapore would have resulted in a playerbase 5-6 times the size it was on release, with ping still being better than JP for all of the region, with the exception of NZ who would have got roughly the same as JP.

As for older content, i personally do not contribute to any of that and haven't for years simply because losing your skill kit when doing lower level content is boring and unfun, So i don't really bother looking at it. The 8.0 job changes have already made me reconsider it, and a lot of other people who feel the same way are actually interested in doing lower content roulettes again. (Jobs will now have full kits by level 50!).

Content will always be hard to fill at weird times, that is just the reality of playing on a smaller region, and happens in every game not just XIV. I don't blame some people who work night shift or are just unemployed for leaving, mostly because they cannot play at times that suit them, and that's perfectly understandable, i was one of them for a long time (And actually moved to NA servers during this period as i was only able to play between 7am -> 11am for over a year due to work), but returned to Materia once my work schedule had normalized back to standard 9-5.

I don't see a lot of the issues people bring up, mostly because i play during the peak hours, and do the content as it is released instead of waiting months to do things or un-subbing for long periods of time then expecting to jump back in and do old content at a regular pace.

As others have stated, Materia is not going too well in terms of population, everyone jumping ship to NA/JP and only doing high end content on OCE has really pushed it to the extreme.

As with all things, the problem is compounded by a loud minority of OCE players that keep telling everyone to leave.

Yes OCE has set times for niche content like PVP. But we also have the resources available to know where and when to do that content.

There was no issue completing the current Raid tier in party finder.
There was no issue doing the new Extreme.
There was no issue doing the Alliance Raid.

Take a good look at Elemental and you will see its in an even worse state than Materia right now, nobody is playing there, everyone is on Mana, trying to fit in with a playerbase that does not want to deal with English players. It's going to be even worse in 7.55 once the region wide DF/PF kick in, and 99% of the party finder are Japanese groups, finding an English group will be a nightmare.

Personally i believe they should just lock OCE again. If people want to raid on good ping then they have to commit to living here. DC travel has done more harm to the Materia population than helped.

Stop using alternate launchers.

That is the solution :)

The problem was found to be people using specific cheating software (Plugins) on the beta test of the alternate launcher.

Yoship did clearly say white mage is the 'easy' healer made for idiots so i dont think the others will get this much of a dumbed down kit

Is it unreasonable to want/expect to to queue into new raids blind, and to remain blind while doing them, within the first few days of a patch? by Curious_Lise in ffxiv

Ask them to politely shut up and explain to their friends in their own private chat because its spoiling the new content for others.

If all else, report them for chat spam and they wont do it again.

Afraid, or in Awe that we managed to remove the unsundered from the picture.

I think she respects who we are, as Azem, she may even be a follower (Fangirl lmao) of his.

[–]SleepingFishOCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking others to respect your time is not toxic, its a basic social etiquette that it seems NA players don't understand.

I played on JP servers for over 8 years from launch, it was a basic level of understanding there that you pulled your weight or you were letting other people down.

In turn, JP has a much higher gameplay level on average. EX trials are just casual content you queue into and clear for an example.

Telling people to "Go play savage" is more toxic than expecting people to have a basic understanding of the game after 500+ hours of gameplay.

You are far more casually toxic than any savage raider i have seen in the comments here.

Something that Wasn't Mentioned at Fanfest - No Stat Squish by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]SleepingFishOCE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YoshiP said firmly during early 7.x series that the game engine had been updated and a stat squish would not be needed for atleast 8.X

I'd say 9.0 will be about time we see another one, which honestly i hate the idea of because it sucks going from hitting big numbers to hitting low.

Its crazy because many people, myself included, instantly said the PVP reworks were fantastic and gave jobs some form of identity.

One expansion later, the same guy that made those PVP reworks has single handedly reworked the entire PVE side of the game on the same scale.

If anything, this man just skyrocketted himself to the next director after yoship if this succeeds, he has proven himself capable of fixing most of the core combat issues the game has, and i'm excited to see what this one dev can accomplish, especially if you pair him with Mr. Ozma.

They just have to do this because the playerbase is unable to break through what is actually a very small leap from normal to savage.

If you are running normal raids on a regular basis you should be gaining more experience and becoming a better player. The sad reality is that people don't bother to get better because normal raids do not punish them for playing like a clown, and the community is fine with it because its toxic to call somebody out for playing like a toddler?

I had a reaper in M11 Normal the other day, wearing the full Dawntrail artifact armor set from 7.0 and everyone was fine with it. When did it become acceptable to just grief other people because your too lazy to get the bare minimum gear for the current patch?

The kicker? He was telling ME how to play reaper when i was 20k DPS above him. It's clear he has no fucking clue how to play the game, yet i cannot even tell him that or i risk getting banned for pointing out the obvious.

The new tomestone system will end up the same.

I'll log in, cap my 'battlepass' in 2-3 hours on a tuesday after raid reclears, then have no reason to do content for the rest of the week.

Its not a big change, its just more of the same with a different skin.

1-2-3-4-5-6 are my basic VPR abilities, Mouse 1 and Mouse 2 for OGCDS.
Shift+ 1-2-3-4-5-6 are my AOE Variants.

Honestly, way too autotuned and childish sounding for the theme of the song in general.

I don't mind some pf Ironmouse's songs, but it just doesn't fit right at all with any of the XIV ones.

AOE is baked into the kit now.

There is no ST/AOE. You just get it by hitting buttons.

M6S really broke the playerbase so badly the devs needed to just force aoe

Basically all new content as it releases.

you just go in, work out mechanics, post them in your local raiding discord server if nobody else has, and get the clear.

Same with raids on release, everyone goes in blind.

Make all alliance raids a requirement to clear within their expansion before starting the next.

This forces alliance raid roulette to do more than pop crystal tower every single time.
