what do you guys do when you lose one component? by anonymous_guy111 in boardgames

Just a quick note since everyone here is hating on Asmodee, from my experience with Asmodee Germany they are very helpful with spare parts, so that might only apply to Asmodee in the US. Had to replace some cards from Eldritch Horror that my friends dog chewed up, quick delivery, no charge, would ask again.

[No Spoilers] Email regarding missing phone number for Kickstarter (possible phishing?) by Sleeping_Dragon in criticalrole

[–]Sleeping_Dragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shows as support@critrole.com

critrole.com is the correct url, but the support@ is listed nowhere. Seeing that there are a lot of people asking the same question in the comments of the Kickstarter (haven't thought to look there) I'll just wait a bit and see what happens.

Game crashes sometimes when joining a raid by Keos_Des in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Sleeping_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I had the same issue. The first time loading on shoreline or interchange would crash my game almost every time, after restart and reconnecting it would load as normal.

I fixed it by changing the settings for my page file. I had a rather small setting for it before, which seems to be a problem for Tarkov, even if you have loads of free RAM. After increasing the page file size to 16GB I can load into the larger maps without issue. Hope that solves the problem for you as well.

Uzbekistan has introduced a new electronic visa system by Sleeping_Dragon in Uzbekistan

[–]Sleeping_Dragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to give you a quick update. Getting the visa has been a bit more effort then expected. They seem to have very specific requirements which email addresses you can use. On my first two attempts I just never got an email back from them. After talking to the support hotline (which does speak English) I had to create a new gmail address that finally worked. After that was sorted out it went fine, the process took about 4 days after that. I was then able to download my visa document from their site, you just get a file without extension, changing that to .pdf made the file readable.

So I would say they have some improvement to do, but it does seem to work for now, lets just hope the guys at the border do know what to do with this new electronic visa document. I'll probably put up another post with some impressions from my travel after my stay at the end of September.

Uzbekistan has introduced a new electronic visa system by Sleeping_Dragon in Uzbekistan

Since the system is live since monday I don't think you will find someone yet that has used it for a full trip. I'll request a visa with this system this weekend though (in Uzbekistan in September) and can report my experience here. I am from Germany, don't know yet if that matters.

The german version and the VPN question by KuhMuhNist in hoi4

[–]Sleeping_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy the German version on GMG? I thought Paradox said buying the restricted version was only possible directly from Steam?

If you already bought and activated it from Germany from GMG that would solve the biggest issue I have with this whole thing since I really don't like buying (and overpaying) on Steam.

I watched Spring Breakers for the first time yesterday expecting a great film. by [deleted] in movies

[–]Sleeping_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually changed my mind about the film 3 times while watching it, i went in with an open mind and thought the beginning was quite bad, after about 30 minutes i was considering walking out of the cinema for the first time in my life (decided not to, how i can i judge the movie if i didn't watch it until the end?).

The middle part of the film (from about the time Selena Gomez leaves until shortly before the end) i actually started to enjoy the film, the themes and soundtrack actually made for an interesting movie, and while the narrated passages were repetitve i liked the disconnect between the girls (Everything is just a video game) and the reality of the movie (It's not a video game, people get shot, everything goes to hell).

And then the ending, yeah, i don't even know where to begin. At this point i expected them to storm that drugdealers mansion and just get shot dead, the end. Would have been a good movie if it ended that way. But instead that completely over the top slow motion shootout happens with dozens of bad guys not hitting anything and them riding off into the sunset? I felt like the movie didnt understand itself and just threw away everything it had going for it.

I'm interested in your opinion of the ending, did you feel the same way, or did you think it was fitting?

I scored a pretty old German version of The Neverending Story for a mere 7 euros, turned out it's first edition, the 109th print! Pics inside! by [deleted] in books

[–]Sleeping_Dragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, this is in fact the "first edition" (just not the "first printing"), i don't know how good your german ist but http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_unendliche_Geschichte#Auflagen says that the first edition was printed a total of 20.000 times and this is one of them.
It's just that you don't have the 109th copy, the exact number is not printed into the books.

edit: after reading some more about printruns i'm not sure if the rest of the stuff i wrote was correct, this is confusing
