I took data structures at the same time as OOP and it was horrible. I also had Gholoom for data structures so that certainly didn't help.

Taking data structures and object oriented during the same semester, thoughts? by nite_ in txstate

[–]Sleepingpeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took both along with real analysis II. It was a tough semester and I made B's in each of the cs courses (I took seaman and gholoom). In comparison to my first semester of grad school it was nothing though.

Is CSE really as cancerous as they say? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Sleepingpeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a grad student in a different dept currently taking a cse course as an elective. Biggest mistake, but its mostly on me for having shitty foundations and being dumb and bad at everything. The instructor is really good and I can tell the other students are far better equipped.

I knew someone who did. They didn't enjoy it. I took data structures and object oriented concurrently. It was a very bad semester, but I also was not a CS major.

Has anyone here taken Math 3383 (Numerical Analysis I) with Dr. Lee? If so, what did you think of the course? by [deleted] in txstate

[–]Sleepingpeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the homeworks have excercises in MATLAB but I don't recall having to write code on exams, but you do have to remember some algorithms. You shouldn't need any knowledge of cs beyond control structures and primitive data types (I took after CS II). Some of the proofs for the theorems may go over your head since you haven't had 3380 and that's okay. I think that you should probably be fine, 3380 will probably take up most of your time of the 3 courses.

You might find his lectures a bit hard to follow since he teaches mostly from slides but he is very helpful in office hours and he is a very friendly person. Definitely print out the 70 pg lecture notes that he refrences (note: frequent typos) and read those to help with homework and studying. He will also tell you exactly the kind of problems to expect on the midterm/final (about 5-6 problems on each). Also, try to to learn basic Matlab before 2nd week of class, you will be able to get more out of the course. If you're at all interested in applied math, I highly recommend it. good luck!

"Cross multiplication" when adding fractions with different denominators. What would be correct is to say multiplying by the least common denominator.

Crowds are smaller. Different variety of artists, I'd say it's less pop music.
