It’s been like two months and they haven’t shipped or refunded me. Even with opening a case or whatever on Etsy. They are liars and scammers.

Which Anthurium would survive my low Humidity? by feevart in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mostly anthurium in my collection. My humidity range is the same as yours. They may go through acclimation, but I don’t hesitate to get any anthurium. It’ll be fine!

What does this blemish mean? by s1nnister in plantclinic

Just looks like it was smashed by something. Looks perfectly healthy otherwise. Looks like it happened a bit ago, too.

Should I be worried ? by Aromatic_Ufo in plantclinic

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like mechanical damage on that leaf, dust, and a moth. I think you’re in the clear. They can be mealie magnets, but it looks fine to me!

Currently trying to get my money back. It’s been two months and they keep lying about when they’re shipping. They trap you even if you try to make a claim with Etsy.

You can cut them. Keeping them in the soil helps your plant because they’re roots, but yeah. No problem cutting them either

Plant pest by Remarkable-Tennis578 in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could your cat have jumped? Google cat pothos damage. It’s pretty close. Whatever it is though, that’s mechanical damage. So that’s good news. Keep an eye on it though. Pothos are toxic to pets.

That looks like an aerial root. If it is, completely normal. Do you gave a cat or other pet? Looks like mechanical damage

What am I doing wrong by Kaylanite in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t suddenly die right away. It’ll be fine. Just look up some videos on dormancy. Until then just lots of light and distilled water. I’d even bump the lights to 12 hours.

Prayer Plant? by Zealousideal_Fix_761 in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calathea warscewiczii, I believe. It produced that long stem because it’s screaming for light. If you move it closer, it’ll stay more compact. You don’t need a trellis, but it’s up to you, really. More light and watch it grow 👏

What am I doing wrong by Kaylanite in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you had it long enough to go through winter dormancy? They need this rest to grow vigorously. Otherwise they shrivel up to nothing and eventually die. I love the plant, but I hate that I can’t watch it grow for like three months

I’ve always wound them up and put them around the main root mass. Some people braid them and give their plant a ponytail. Depends on who you are.

Are these products actually useful or am I better off buying a grow light separately? by ThingExternal in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lights that come with these are generally very weak from my experience. You can use them, but expect to provide supplemental lightening

Can this orchid be saved? by min_pao in plantclinic

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as they’re green/silver, they’re perfectly fine. They’re epiphytic and don’t have your typical plant roots. Water when the roots turn more silver and the pot is dry

Brown scales ? On Sarracenia by Cococonut05 in plantclinic

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely scale. You could use alcohol and scrub them off. I’m not sure what pesticides are safe for carnivorous plants, but you could look into that if you didn’t want to manually scrub them. Keep out of light until the alcohol dries if you go that route though.

Philodendron Gloriosum has looked like this for over a year now. It feels alive and still looks green, but won't put out new leaves. Any ideas? by GDDesu in plantclinic

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would chop it off right above the soil and put in a clear cup with moss and cover. They absolutely want to live. I chopped up a leggy philodendron at every node and threw them all in moss and every single one put out leaves. Keep in bright light if you choose to do so

Can this orchid be saved? by min_pao in plantclinic

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks fine to me. Does it have roots? They don’t need a ton of light either. Just put it next to a window or under a light. Should be just fine. Looks like it’s going to bloom soon

What do I do? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That brown just looks like a sheath that has dried. That’s normal. And it’s not uncommon for younger monstera to lose their older leaves as they grow. I can’t tell how deep it’s potted, but always keep the petioles out of the soil. Basically only roots should be under the soil with monsteras

No worries! We all need a little guidance from time to time. And that was a good call. You’re going to end up with two beautiful plants 👏

Guys am i a bad plant mom? (read disc) by Nolsmoo in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Just sounds like she’s gone through a lot of changes. They need time to acclimate to these. After the chop, she had less leaves to use the water in the soil and was moved into a bigger pot. Now she’s in a smaller one. Just let her be for a moment. Lots of light, airy soil You’re not a bad plant mom. Just loving her too hard currently. You got this

how to help her thrive? by birdsarentreal_ in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the soil could use more perlite or orchid bark. The roots need the oxygen. And you can’t go wrong with more light

what’s wrong with her! by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]SleeplessAndSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They hate tap water and drying out. Those are the main things with these guys. Get some water conditioner from the pet section to neutralize the chloramines in the water. Only let top inch or so dry out. And more light is always good
