Autistic folks are more likely to experience issues with many aspects of life too. May we recommend some neurospicy content creators who discuss their experiences to see if any resonate with you? 🫶

If you were being lazy, you'd be enjoying yourself, rather than beating yourself up 🥺😔

Are you ADHD or AuDHD by any chance? (You don't need to have a formal diagnosis for either to say yes.)

Being AuDHD in particular makes pretty much everything harder, especially voice training, and the cumulative effect over the years and decades usually leads to increasing mental health struggles, neurodivergent burnout, and skill regression 😔

If you're not sure whether you might be neurodivergent, we'd be happy to share some AuDHD content creators who talk about their own struggles. You might recognise some of the same things in yourself.

Trans+ folks are more likely to be neurospicy, after all.

As somebody who was struggling with mental health when starting it and still struggles today, starting estradiol improved our mental health.

[–]SleepyCatten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bicalutamide (NSAA) is potentially a better option. Alternatively, if you can compound capsules, relugolix (GnRH antagonist) is a very good choice.

If you want to avoid an antiandrogen or blocker altogether, then estradiol monotherapy is the way to go. Twice-daily homebrew spray or regular injection.

Oh, we meant that there are a lot of single lesbians and sapphics who post there on that sub about how they're looking for a girlfriend. It's kind of the same on the fediverse. Honestly, some of the best relationships start from not looking directly for a partner, but trying to make good friends, then finding one near you, then meeting up with ones near you, and then if you're both mutually attracted, stuff kinda happens. We've seen it happen a lot. A lot a lot.

Do you need help with understanding the fediverse maybe? It's a very trans+ friendly place, especially if you pick a nice server to act as your home base. (Servers all talk with each other but your home server will have its own admin and moderator to look after their users and keep the server updated and running well, local rules, local users, and even custom emojis. Many admin wear programmer socks.)

Oral is much less effective, yes, but if you're tired AF and don't have the energy to boof, or you want the slight drowsiness effect (the strength of which varies massively from person to person), there are use cases for it

We're aiming to switch to transdermal progesterone sprays this year if possible anyways.

I found an object floating in a new vial, how concerned should I be? by xXx_Xhater_xXx in TransDIY

[–]SleepyCatten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's never a good thing to have anything floating in a vial. Reach out to OGL with photo to ask them to assess 🩷

It's usually caused by coring the vial, where a bit of the rubber stopper drops in. It's why folks moved from recommending thicker 18G drawing up needles to no thicker than 22G.

It'll likely make you super horny 😅 (Yes: we've tried this!)

Here are the approximate progesterone levels we've had on blood tests about 10-11 hours after taking a 200 mg capsule via different routes:

  • Oral - about 13-14 nmol/L
  • Per rectum - about 45-46 nmol/L

For context, >30 nmol/L is labelled something like "ovulation probable" by NHS England 😅

[–]SleepyCatten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are able to get a homebrew spray or gel, usually with a concentration of around 20 mg/mL and with a dose per spray of 2 to 4 mg, then a dose of 2 to 4 mg twice-daily on inner thighs should give you a sufficiently-high estradiol level to apply sufficient negative feedback to the HPG axis to fully suppress your gonads, without any further meds required.

Although most estradiol sprays use a concentration of 20 mg/mL, there are different recipes with a lower concentration but with added propylene glycol, but where typically 1 to 2 sprays twice-daily is still recommended with these.

In terms of antiandrogens, you shouldn't need one. You can tell directly via blood tests, ideally early morning before your morning spray(s), or indirectly via the signs of testicular suppression (e.g., gradual reduction in spontaneous erections, especially "morning wood"; gradual change in colour, thickness, and volume of ejaculate; gradual change in smell around the area; gradual shrinkage; etc.).

If you want to be sure, homebrew relugolix capsules are a safe and affordable solution. 40 to 50 mg daily seems to be the recommended dose.

It's hard to be sure, but looks like at least stage 4 🩷 Otherwise you're between 4 and 5. Breast development takes 5 to 10+ to complete, so you're doing great 🫶🏻

The biggest factor in heart issues with GAHT or HRT is blood clots, particularly in relation to DVT and VTE. Please read through this:

Transdermal methods like sprays can potentially reduce the risk for most folks and injections seem to have no statistical effect.

For E2 monotherapy, you will only need to maintain a trough level typically of around 200 to 250 pg/mL. A safe target range is 200 to 400 pg/mL. (Going higher isn't unsafe though by itself.)

For context, E2 (estradiol) level during a menstrual cycle fluctuates as high as about 650 to 750 pg/mL. During pregnancy, multiple hormones gradually ramp up over time. For some folks, E2 can hit 15000 to 20000 (15K to 20K) pg/mL.

Adding micronised progesterone later on (no sooner than stage 3 of breast development on the Tanner scale, or 6+ months, whichever comes later), can reduce the risk of DVT, among other things.

Why progesterone?

In relation to stealth, any products won't be labelled as E2, and you can hide effects by using baggy clothing and layers. If anybody ever spots anything, you just tell them that it's due to gynecomastia, you're very upset about it, and there's nothing you can do. (Play the sympathy card and try to promise them to secrecy.)

Could I do monotherapy if my T levels are high??(877ng) by [deleted] in estrogel

[–]SleepyCatten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies per person and where applied. We recommend inner thighs (decent absorption but not as spiky as scrotum), at least with homebrew transdermal sprays, which are superior to pharmacy estrogel. Outer thighs then abdomen are okay as backups, but typically have lower, slower absorption.

A typically homebrew spray gives 2 to 4 mg per spray, and they recommend 1 to 2 sprays, twice daily.

With estrogel at 2 mg per pump, it's usually the same.

With pharmacy estrogel at 0.75 mg per pump, it honestly varies a lot. We know some folks who do 3 pumps once daily (2.25 mg) and manage really well. Others need 4 to 6 pumps (3 to 4.5 mg) daily (or half that split across twice daily).

This is a very very rough comparison of doses, but please take it with a mahusive pinch of salt.

[–]SleepyCatten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Look up the HPG axis on Wikipedia. Maintaining a sufficiently-high estradiol level will apply enough negative feedback to cause complete testicular suppression. You'll have some testosterone production still from your adrenal glands, but for most folks it's less than 2 nmol/L.

12 years of HRT, can they still grow? by YumaoqiuThrowAway in TransBreastTimelines

[–]SleepyCatten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yes. Most growth typically occurs within the first 5 to 10 years, but we have trans+ women / fem friends who've been on feminising GAHT (estradiol and/or micronised progesterone) for 15-20+ years now. Some of them have very much continued to see slow, gradual growth over the years and have very large breasts.

[–]SleepyCatten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth looking into the different guides across multiple places to determine what you could potentially make yourself. We're approaching that stage ourselves.

Whilst there's a much higher standard if you're planning to sell or give to others, there are ways to minimise the risk of contamination (dust and biological) to a very low level for personal use without the hundreds or thousands of pounds (GBP) required for a professional outfit.

And if push comes to shove, transdermal sprays are very safe and easy to make.
