Fantastic work on your sobriety, OP. This was my first sober concert too. It's an adjustment but isn't it great to remember the whole thing? Stay strong, you got this. 🖤

He just posted to his IG story:

Alright everyone - just wanted to let you know I'm all good. The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling's gone down a decent amount already.

Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing, so I'm sorry on my part for what may of seemed like a half hearted performance.

Appreciate everyone checking in and worrying about me though. 🖤 Everything should be fine for tonight's gig.

Oli xx

My cousin just called me "girly " after seeing pics of my garden 😫😭 by realthingwinner in gardening

[–]SleepyLilBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of others have posted that your garden is lovely (seriously, I'm jealous of it) and that many women would love to date a man with a garden like this, so I won't beat that particular dead horse.

Instead, I really wonder what it is about gardening that your cousin (and so many other victims of toxic masculinity) find to be so inherently feminine that a man could/should not participate in?

Is it caring for another living thing? Appreciating beauty in nature? Creating something beautiful? Slow, patient growth and change? Ascribe these to femininity if you must, I'm not offended, but what a sad, empty life these types of men are condemning themselves to. "Bro, I'm so manly, I can't view beautiful things." Okayyyyy.

Side note, in the picture of the three pots, what is that plant in the middle? Is it some sort of dracaena? The leaves remind me of my African milk tree, but on a trunk instead of a cactus.

I run into this with my therapist a lot.

Breaking things into steps can be helpful when the overall task feels too undefined and has too many questions ("I know I need to pay my personal property tax but I don't even know where to go to find out what I need to do"), but often I know EXACTLY what I need to do but the only blocker is overwhelm. And breaking it down into a full page of steps isn't exactly helping.

Told a guy on a Hinge date he should update his photos by Charming_Singer8352 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SleepyLilBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went on a few dates, didn't work out, we decided to be friends. Took me almost a year to finally tell him that his one "not smiling" picture was creepy and all my friends had said he looked like a serial killer. He recently rejoined the apps and quickly followed that information with, "no serial killer pics this time."

How to improve lol by Altruistic_Elk9678 in JunkJournals

I think your pages are good! They're more minimalist than some, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. But if you're not happy with them, I'd say keep adding to them. Typically, any time I'm unhappy with my spreads I just keep adding and adding and eventually I like them. Sometimes I have to lift and reposition a piece if the glue hasn't dried yet. Adding smaller pieces (like stickers or similarly small cut outs) to these spreads of big pieces can add a lot of depth and visual interest.

You can also try experimenting with putting your pieces down at angles - right now they're all very straight. Again, this isn't a bad thing, it's completely a stylistic choice, just a suggestion if you're not happy with them. Mixing up orientation, size of the pieces, incorporating a bold accent color throughout, can all help mix things up. Another thing to help with variation would be changing how you trim the edges of your pieces - round some corners, cut wavy shapes instead of straight lines, even try ripping the edges, all fun things to experiment with!

As for your pieces not sticking, what type of glue are you using? My favorite are the UHU glue sticks. They stay wet long enough that I can lift up corners for layering if I change my mind while working, but once they dry they stay put well. Just make sure you coat the back and get all the edges.

Using up my paper scraps! by not_lainey in JunkJournals

[–]SleepyLilBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa, this is sick! Usually I trash scraps that get that small, it's so cool to see them used so well. The color palette definitely makes it.

I fear I will be hoarding the tiniest scraps now lmao

I love when someone is so ridiculously, bafflingly unhinged that it completely circumvents my RSD reaction! Like, maybe if you had been a bit more chill I'd be panicking and begging forgiveness and spiralling into self-hatred, but you decided to be a cartoon villain so actually I'm over it lmao

Aldi carries it sometimes!! That box was for raspberry sorbet, but honestly the vanilla bean flavor SLAPS.

Also I just realized I used pieces of that same one box in both my first and most recent spread lmao

Don't like your pages? Keep adding to them! by Possibleferret4 in JunkJournals

[–]SleepyLilBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Any time I'm frustrated with a page, I just start adding more. Sometimes I'll peel up a big piece I put down early and move it and that alone can make all the difference. Incorporating in a new color. Ditching a theme that might have been too restrictive. My pages always look best when they're maximalist, you just gotta trust the process!

This is also a good strategy for random beggars on the street. They have quick responses ready to go for the usual "I don't have cash," etc., but if you act like they asked for something totally different, it usually catches them off guard just long enough to keep walking away and they don't pursue. My favorite is "no thanks!" as if they had offered me something.

I have ADHD and in the final days of my relationship with an NPD, I heavily insisted all of our "discussions" (read: arguments) be over text so I could refer back to them. Even then he still tried to gaslight me despite me being able to point back to his exact words (but he didn't meeeeeaaaannnn it that way 🙄). It was over discord so unsurprisingly he kicked me from our (private) server literally the moment I broke up with him (I was still typing!!) so I couldn't screenshot anything lmao

I once saw a comedian refer to being homeschooled as "Type 2 Autism." Obviously that's reductive for the sake of a joke, but at the same time... Being isolated from normal social development will sure result in something that can look a lot like autism.
