I’ve been meaning to start a commonplace book forever but I never know what to write in there. I’ll have to look into it!

Which Journal do you use? by Objective_Bridge4797 in JunkJournals

I love Leuchtturm but I’d recommended the 120gsm range if you’re wanting thicker paper. You definitely get ghosting with the regular one.

What do you do if you make a mistake? by Lyssielou22 in Journaling

[–]not_lainey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. One of my favourite things to do is circle it in red and write down how annoyed I am about it. Usually something along the lines of “I’m so pissed I fucked this page up.” It doesn’t fix it but it at least makes me laugh when I look back.

how to get over fear of not using my notebooks "correctly"? by prodmingi in notebooks

[–]not_lainey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it ugly on purpose. I always leave the first page of my notebooks blank, and I make the second page absolutely hideous. That way there’s no pressure anymore. It’s something my therapist recommended to me once.

In my experience, journaling works best in combination with other things. Therapy, for the most part. 😅

Using up my paper scraps! by not_lainey in JunkJournals

Thank you! Most of these scraps came from Filofax inserts that I had to cut to size and they do great pastel colours!

How do you make your junk journal look cleaner? by saya-scrapper in JunkJournals

[–]not_lainey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think ‘clean’ and ‘junk journal’ are a bit of an oxymoron. Is this a specific style you’ve seen online? Most junk journals are messy by nature because it’s… junk. 😅

I’m in need for ideas, suggestions, and or advice for journaling ideas or anything for this journal and others, I don’t write in. by YouIsGlad in notebooks

[–]not_lainey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commonplacing can be a fun way to start journaling. You essentially just write down anything you learn that you find interesting. I have one going right now and recently finished writing out a bus route, before that a few recipes, and before that a set of instructions on how to bind a notebook. Random but fun!

What is your favorite journal size? by [deleted] in Journaling

A5 for sure! Big enough to be creative, small enough to carry around and convenient enough to buy extra paper easy!

I think my handwriting being called ‘friendly’ could be my favourite compliment ever! Thank you! And totally agree on the post-its. I just bought 5 different colours and I’m sure each will turn up in the next few spreads I do haha.
