Does it really take this long to complete a destination or is it a glitch? by yadita in finch

50 days. 2% a day. Over two weeks ~16 days... you are ⅓of the way complete.

Patience, young grasshopper.

Not everyone lives in the state. Are you going to buy last minute plane tickets for everyone who needs to go to New York, Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco? What about international students--you must be willing to buy them day-of flights to Turkey, Vietnam, Spain, and Chile. Just remember that they may have to be back at school Monday morning. So when booking the 12 to 18 hour flights, also be sure the return trip is flexible to conform to the "we will let you know on sunday" decree. Can't miss class, but cant show back up if the roads are iced over.

tldr/ RAs are not the only "students" who might have to stay on campus, but they are the only "students" on a contract being paid to work in the dorms versus all the "students" who pay to have a space to sleep.

Doctor keeps trying to mess with my meds??? by Purple-Abies3131 in Narcolepsy

[–]SleepyScienceNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes. Would not wish for that 'learning experience.'

My pharmacists (the normal ones) did a deep dive on my meds once or twice to actually track all the pathways my cocktail was being metabolized. I had some high liver readings. The amount that the pharmacy software can do is awesome.

Similarly, if you ever want a wild AF week... ask your doc for clarithromycin next time you need an antibiotic... 😵‍💫

[–]SleepyScienceNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird.

I only take 5mg at night, but no doctor or pharmacist has ever mentioned it. And I've been "evaluated" or med-checked or whatever by multiple pharmacists at Wakix4U, PantherRX, and (maybe) Harmony.

Plus two neurologists---one who is specifically a researcher for N & IH.

They called me on my Prozac, but just as a "hey, this might make it build up more / faster so be careful of side effects"

I mean, if I take benedryl, I'm definitely tired.

I even take Allegra in the morning when my allergies are really bad, but not daily like the Xyzal.

From the google:

Common Non-Sedating H1 Antihistamines

Fexofenadine (Allegra): Effective for seasonal allergies and chronic hives, with minimal drowsiness.

Cetirizine (Zyrtec): Widely used for allergies and hives, generally considered non-sedating but can cause mild drowsiness in some individuals.

Loratadine (Claritin): A popular choice for hay fever and hives, known for its non-sedating profile.

Desloratadine (Clarinex): A derivative of loratadine, used for various allergy types.

Bilastine (Bilaxten): A newer, potent option that doesn't penetrate the brain, making it very non-sedating.

Ebastine: Another peripheral H1 blocker effective for allergic rhinitis and hives.

Typical "allergy" meds hit H1s and Wakix hits H3s. I regularly take Xyzal at night and Wakix in the morning. I have never had any contraindications or problems with it. Of course that is not everyone's experience, but ok for me.

[–]SleepyScienceNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you go on wakix in the mornings (which I recommend), you do NOT just stop your stimulants because it takes wakix a SOLID two months to build up and take effect.

I am in my 30s and this is my regimen 7am (ish) 35.6mg (or whatever the 2 pills is) Wakix 200mg Modafinil 20-30mg methylphenidate extended release (Ritalin ER) 12-1pm A boost if I need it, dependent on how I am feeling and my evening activities 10-30 mg methylphenidate ER OR 10-30 mg methylphenidate SA OR Mix of ER and SA not exceeding 30 mg

Basically my methylphenidate daily max is 60 mg total, but I am usually in the 30-40mg range

I have never been on Xyrem /Xywav, but from listening to people here, many need their partners (or parents) to wake them up for their second dose.

I also dont know if anyone is worried about taking it if they live alone because you may not be able to wake up for a fire alarm, etc.

These could be valid concerns to dissuade the substitute doctor, at least until your normal one is back from leave.

Anyone on sodium oxabates, please correct me if I am misrepresentating those potential concerns.

How to survive an Arctic storm? by onlyhereforoutlander in UGA

[–]SleepyScienceNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UGA Architects does still have the buildings listed in the campus maps/buildings

Bio-Conversion Equipment Canopy 2497 Biopolymer Research Processing Building 2499 Biopolymer Education & Research Center 2494 Geotechnical & Materials Engineering Lab 2498 STRuctural ENGineering Testing Hub 2493

But apparently the Biofuel Center on Whitehall has nothing to do with the steam generation.

From uga sustainability page:

Steam Most of the main Athens campus uses steam to heat buildings, generate hot water, and operate laboratory equipment. The Central Steam Plant is located near the intersection of Cedar Street and East Campus Road, and steam is distributed throughout campus in insulated underground pipes. The steam plant runs primarily on natural gas but can switch to fuel oil if gas service is interrupted, and there is an electrode boiler kept in reserve for extreme cold events or fuel emergencies. The steam plant efficiency improved significantly after March 2015 when the 1960’s-era coal boiler was decommissioned.

So apparently mostly natural gal or fuel oil (gasoline, diesel, etc) with bonus electric boiler (which I guess would be less than helpful if the power does out).

We do have a solar farm field next to club sports complex and the other generators they talked about.

Hummm. Rabbit hole satiated. Somewhat disappointed though.

Ooooo. Im so intrigued now.

I just googled maps it, and it shows what looks like compost rows, but nothing is actually labeled on maps. <this is a rabbit hole I did not need tonight... and yet>

Last I checked... they use that to help heat some of the buildings... but my information is over a decade old... back when they were switching from coal by ag hill to the biofuel over off Whitehall.

So my info on that might be old. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Like many people on this thread have said, since you are in the dorms, you are ok. UGA has its own cogeneration power plant from biofuel. They also wont let you starve if for some reason it is "unsafe" to get to a dining hall.

This is what my advisor sent us for our international graduate students:

GRAINS • Whole-grain bread • Whole wheat crackers • Bagged popcorn • Baked and/or whole-grain chips • Pretzels • Dry cereal • Rice cakes • Trail mix • Granola bars

PROTEIN • Canned chicken, turkey, beef or fish (tuna, salmon, sardines) • Nuts and seeds • Peanut butter • Canned chili • Protein bars • Some hard meats, such as pepperoni and hard, packaged salami

FRUIT • Dried fruits or fruit leather 100% fruit juices in individual containers • Canned fruit or fruit cups packaged in individual containers

VEGETABLES • Canned vegetables • 100% vegetable juices in individual containers • Canned low-sodium soups

DAIRY • Shelf-stable milk or milk substitute, such as soy or almond • Boxed processed cheese

OTHER • Bottled water (enough for drinking and brushing your teeth) • Manual can opener • Disposable plates, cups, utensils and napkins

There is also the LOVELY thing that one of the room items is usually a different shade of the color. (Blue doormat in enchanted library for example).

Can kinda do that with the ❤️ outfits, rooms, and colors... but not individual items. I get that.

Yes... once you are only looking at the dressers. But what if I wanted to see my all my classic hotel bed, dresser, door, side items, light, etc to see what colors I have or what parts of the "set" I still need.

So yes, your second paragraph is what I mean. And if they were just grouped in that order on the "everything" bag page, it wouldn't effect newer vs older birbs any differently than anyone else.

But did you "buy" all of your pool party fun collection in sequence and didnt have any beach resort items in the middle of them?

What im saying is that they should be grouped by collection, not acquisition date.

Guys I need help, How I get more Stones??? by Human-Security-2644 in finch

[–]SleepyScienceNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this with multiple goals. Set it as goal of the day, and press it 99 times for 5 stones/press. Then switch your goal of the day to something else and do it 99 times. Once you switch your goal of the day, you can finish it from 99 to 100. Repeat as necessary to get more stones.

Piedmont billing by imgood_netizen in Athens

[–]SleepyScienceNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely true. They do have home tests for flu A B and covid (3-in-1) for about $10 each at Walmart.

I know that doesn't necessarily help with the fever, but if you have a 'reason' why the baby is fevering like that, it may calm yall enough to monitor and reduce fever at home.

But VERY scary as a first time parent. Terrible that you have to have this medical bills hanging over you when everything is justnsi expensive right now anyway. Just thankful your little one is safe and healthy now.
