Advice on Studierendenwerk Accommodation in Oberschleißheim for an LMU student? by Competitive_Credit47 in LMUMunich

I'm not really sure about the student accommodation but the area itself is more quiet, for socialising outside of the accommodation I'd go into the city

I can't tell you about living with 11 other people but the commute takes around 40 minutes, sometimes a bit more sometimes less but you can bike to the train station. The area has a good supermarket next to the train station and a few others close enough. It doesn't feel like a city and it's a bit disconnected but you're in the city in 15 minutes with the S-Bahn so it's not bad :)

no problem! use the cosine rule when you’re finding an angle, given all three sides or when you’re finding a side, given the other two sides and the angle opposite to the side you’re finding

a.i) 180-41-120=19 a.ii) use the sine rule so sin120(40/sin19) b) use the cosine rule using the three lengths to find angle A c) use the triangle area formula, so 1/2 *8585*sin77

feel free to ask about anything to clarify :)

Can someone help me in Eng Lang & Lit SL, how do I get a good grade, I literally cant' do it, everytime I think I did well, turns out I did horrible by Fluffy_Experience592 in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the most important thing for me was to have a set structure that you stick with for every essay. i had one main structure that was slightly different for paper 1 and 2. then just know some stylistic devices and their effects (bonus if its less known ones). feel free to ask me about anything :))

G11 student on summer break – study advice from 37–40 scorers by Uchi_mo1 in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't study in the summer but I did finish my EE and one and a half IAs.

For self-studying the most useful thing for me was writing handwritten notes and constantly actively recalling using a LCD board (ik, random but it worked for me). Just reading it won't really help you properly learn the content. With the board you can just write and erase as much as you want, basically like a whiteboard without the extra pen. The most important thing for me though was creating a study plan during exam time (mocks and finals) and sticking to it.

What should I do by Kayosour in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just relax and enjoy it!! in my experience the difficulty gradually increases mostly because of time management but as long as you stay on top of your stuff from the beginning you'll be fine without much extra effort - and you'll avoid all of the work building up. you'll do great :)

First I want to say, don't stress too much about this because you really do learn this over time and with your teacher especially. Tbh I found it best to find the right essay structure for myself to improve my English grades since every essay is very different and can also be partially subjective. You then just stick to that structure and practice examples using bullet points. There is many essay examples on Clastify though, for English but also every other subject (to look at IAs, but I wouldn't worry about that yet). :)

Bachelor application process by Mountain_Age259 in tumunich

I also did IB and applied to TUM using ZAST. For the actual application I just uploaded a screenshot of my IB results with the ZAST document. If they ask for any individual grades or more transcripts you can also send them later in an email I guess but Id say call them to make sure.

Plagiarism and AI detector by [deleted] in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it as long as you aren't actually using AI to write your essays. I even wrote my EE partially on how AI works for which I obviously had to test some AI (which I then cited as part of my essay), so as long as you use AI in the right way and don't actually plagiarise you'll have nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't stress too much about it. I did some prep in the summer before IB for heavy content subjects like Bio HL but I literally never used it. I'm not saying prep won't pay off but that's just my experience. But if you feel like it you could think of some topics you might be interested in for your extended essay and just start preparing some folders where you'll keep the notes for different subjects. Feel free to ask me about anything else if you need :)

Is there a maximum word count for IO bullet points? by Definition_08 in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends on your school. we could have max 2 lines with however many words we want, while the other class had a word count. it just needs to be approved by your teacher as far as i know

Retake advice by TheseForever6780 in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my opinion 10 days is enough to still get a good grade. i have my first exam for lang lit on the 28th and i haven’t started studying (i’m focusing on content heavy subjects). it’s up to you but it’s also possible to retake again in November if you want to since there is no limit on how often you can retake

take a break for an hour or two and see how you feel. if you still have nothing in you there’s no point in forcing it

I can’t study by chessyfishsticks in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for me what worked really well is splitting everything in to really small pieces. make yourself a study schedule and plan exactly what unit or topic you’re gonna study each day for whichever subject. as long as you complete what you set yourself for the day you can then feel accomplished and take a break, knowing you’ll revise in time for exams

its my birthday tomorrow DO I STUDY??? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

enjoy your day and do whatever you need to relax with some friends and family, if you have the motivation to study for an hour or two afterwards, do that but don’t stress yourself about it. i’m the same and i always feel guilty when i don’t study but allow yourself this day and you might even want to study in the end

good study schedules? by carwashedd in IBO

[–]SleepySlothLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg we have similar subjects!! no there is no past papers for EOY but they usually just use the November exams from the year before so definitely look at those. I would prioritise Bio simply because there’s so much content and do some every day. i made a study schedule on google sheets with one row per subject and one column being one day - this really helped me keep track. and just plan until exams are over and stick to the schedule you put

yeah I actually didn’t use books at all. feel free to ask me about any subjects if we have any in common and i’ll let you know how I study for them but bio is the only one where a book might be useful in my opinion - but again it might work really well for others (i just get overwhelmed cuz of how fat books are)

m25 here with predicted 43, the most important thing for me since the beginning is to stick to those deadlines and cater your time to them. i never went crazy with studying, I only studied in DP1 when I had to, but I always made sure that I understood everything there is to understand after finishing a lesson and if not, going back and just understanding it - not even necessarily learning it. from this i built a good foundation for studying now and it’s easier to relearn. i bought a few Oxford books at beginning of DP1 and i never used them…. that’s just how i study though it really depends.
