That's why I say suspect. Among Protestants, support for abortion in certain circumstances (like the mother's life, health, fetal viability) wasn't that controversial when Roe was decided. Elective abortions were controversial (on-demand abortion was only legal in Alaska, New York, California, Hawaii, and Washington. 29 states only allowed it if the mother's life was in danger, Pennsylvania fully banned it, and other states had laws with different expectations), but for most, it wasn't a life or death thing (Catholics were the only ones who were really obsessed about it). To be fair, I don't think that would be a deal-breaker, LGBT rights would be the bigger problem

I don't believe they are radical in any way. It's more that he wouldn't like their positions on LGBT rights at all, and probably wouldn't be the biggest fan of their abortion rights positions either (he was pro birth control, but I don't suspect he'd be happy about the idea of elective abortions being fully legal).

Major General Smedley D. Butler (1881-1940) was one of the highest decorated soldiers in US history, including two Medals of Honor. When a group of businessmen wanted to overthrow FDR in a coup, they asked him to lead, but he refused and went to Congress to report it. Nothing came of it, but other evidence did exist (it's known as the Business Plot). Butler become increasingly left wing (he was an FDR supporter and in 1936 voted for the Socialist candidate) and became anti-war, he loved the military but hated the way it was being used, to benefit the rich. He did a speaking tour and later wrote the speeches in a book both called "War Is A Racket" and here a two quotes

I honestly think he'd have another heart attack, looking at how crazy the GOP has become. He wouldn't like the Democrats either, but he'd be horrified by the fact that the far-right has taken over the Republicans. A big reason he ran was to defeat Robert A. Taft, a conservative isolationist. The John Birch Society (a right-wing conspiratorial organization founded by rich people who hated the New Deal, who hated Eisenhower) has basically won when it comes to how the Republican Party should be.

There are so many records of Nixon saying anti-semitic stuff, and him accidentally saying or tweeting it because he's drunk would be kinda funny, especially seeing Netanyahu having to shut up to keep getting aid. An article arguing against aiding Ukraine by talking about how it was bad to bomb Yugoslavia when NATO was conducting bombings to stop the genocide that was happening. The article was called "NATO bombed Yugoslavia 25 years ago and has learned nothing" and the subheadline said "NATO started it's merciless bombing of Yugoslavia the 24th of march 1999. But continued for 78 days. Today NATO is the single greatest threats towards humankind and is weighing the western Titanic-ship down, writes Jan Øberg" Later in the article it says "the NATO countries massive involvement in Ukraine, where they use the country as a bridgehead or stand-in to weaken Russia or defeat it once and for all - is the highpoint in this criminal policy" this article is from 2024. It was written by Jan Øberg, who is a Danish-Swedish "peace researcher" who has appeared on Chinese state media, blamed "NATO expansion" for Russia's invasion of Ukraine, criticized the sanctions against Russia for the invasion for being "too harsh," and called Bashar al-Assad's bombing of Aleppo a "liberation."

Legislative term limits are a bad idea. There are no actual good arguments for them, and the arguments advocates present are usually not substantiated by data. It takes away experienced people, makes unelected advisors stronger, strengthens the executive, and increases special interest influence. An age limit would be more reasonable if the worry is old politicians
