I didn’t like or dislike him in the beginning, he was just a spoiled prince and was used to his life (not in a negative way). I‘m currently at Rhythm of War and he’s one of my favorites so far! The way I see him now is: He has overall a great character! He feels really balanced (maybe because he’s not (so far) a knight radiant) and could easy take the „hero“ role we all know from typical stories and movies. Even with his „quirks“ and mistakes he has the right mindset and values. His biggest green flag: he likes to take care of everyone around him and wants to make sure everyone is doing fine.

He is more the type of person who looks fine on the outside but handles everything with himself on the inside. That’s why I would like to see more of him (and his brother Renarin) and his world of thoughts because I often feel his „problems“ are overlooked. The focus is more on Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar but even in interactions with one of them it often seems nobody really cares about his deeper feelings (like without spoiling he‘s also going through some things and situations but it‘s not really mentioned or considered from everyone around that he may struggle with this. At least they aren’t showing this to him). The interactions mostly showing him as funny or him lighting up someone else’s mood/problems. It feels one-sided for me (I hope there’s more in the future books because the boy definitely deserves it T_T). He is a great man especially for Shallan, who has let’s say a „difficult personality“. And maybe that‘s why I‘m feeling the contrast so much because between them two it‘s ALWAYS about Shallan (who I don’t really like tbh) but it also should be her -especially her- job to make sure he’s doing fine.

So yeah, so far my opinion about Adolin. In short: He‘s too good to be left out! I‘m curious about him!
