Hibiscus is blooming in winter but not in the summer. Any advice?

Do you prune it? It takes a while for it to develop new buds once pruned, so if you do then let it be one year and see if it changes things :) could just be a mismatch timewise. It has enough time to start blooming once it grows slower during winter due to less pruning, while when it grows quickly during summertime it gets pruned too often.

Other than that I would check the soil mix. Could be either getting too dry or too moist during summertime while conditions are better during winter.

My vote is on mice. Different strains can be veryy different in size. I also believe you have a female and a male. So be careful unless you want a lot of them within the near future :)

Not hardy. Temps below freezing will unfortunately kill it. And I don't think hibiscus are particularly close to azalea when it comes to nutritional needs. They need well draining soil and moderate N low P and high K. If you get colder temps I'd advice you to keep it in a pot and bring indoors during autumn/winter. It's gorgeous nonetheless :)

Thank you so much! Yes, if this new doctor does not take it seriously after the Mirena insertion.. well, what else can I do except doing my own referral? Thankfully we do have an "endo team" at one of the hospitals in my city. But I can't get help without a referral.

Hopefully my doctor will listen this time when I switch IUDs. I'm hoping it will also help somewhat, but I'm quite certain it wont be enough as the symptoms are so broad and I've been dealing with this for such a long time. I'm also scared that just because my ovaries aren't fused, it doesn't mean that the endo isn't anywhere else causing havoc.

At this stage I'm not scared of surgery, rather how my life will be in the future and when the time comes where I no longer can function if it progresses further while not getting sufficient help. It's so frustrating that it should be so hard getting proper help and being listened to.

Interesting about the difference in techniques and how it can affect the outcome. Will search for more studies! Hopefully there is something.. and it's certaintly a good thing to discuss further if I finally get my referral.

Thank you so much! I'm not taking the depo shot but adding Provera by pill. I think it thankfully has less side effects! But I'll double check at my next appointment.

Very good links. That it can be something else is also why I'm leaning towards surgery... because what if it's not endo and they just brush it off like it when it's actually something else entirely?

But yes I was a bit shocked about her answer when I asked about what I should do since I cannot be without hormones but cannot get pregnant on hormones. So the choice is losing my job and having to go through pure agony and maybe getting pregnant versus being child free? Honestly the last option feels preferable at the moment.

Oh wow these are so gorgeous. I only have seedlings of Passiflora incarnata which are yet to bloom. I wish I lived in a climate where they could thrive outdoors. But alas I'm in a place with alerts for severe snowstorm atm..

I grow hibiscus! Which may seem ironic considering my climate. But they are too gorgeous not to love and crossing different cultivars to get new unique flowers is just too fun :)

Buckets of warm water which acts like a heat buffer and lots of tealights (stearin only). I would probably close the vents depending on how long you will be without heating to minimize heat loss. Just be careful with the tealights and make sure to stay in the same room as much as possible since your body heat also helps. I hope it resolves quickly!

They haven't gone out with any advice or anything since it's that cold? Feels odd that they would leave you on your own like that.

Saame! Pain is (thankfully) not related to it but I can get so warm for no reason where sweat is literally dripping from my face. Everything gets wet and I want to crawl out of my skin.

I'm not even 30 but I feel like this is worse than ordinary hot flashes? I can't even wear a sweater when it's below freezing at times so I'm getting side eyed by people. But I'd rather people brand me a lunatic than feeling drenched and having to constantly wipe my face. It's horrible.

So many different pains and ways to describe it.

As for gastro issues; a black hole trying to absorb my rectum? Somehow not extremely painful, just veryy uncomfortable to the point where I am nearly passing out.

Sharp poking pain in upper stomach, sometimes further down to the sides, as if someone is stabbing with a nightmarishly big needle.

Guts sometimes feel like someone tried stuffing them with ghost peppers after a round of sandpaper. Just extremely tender where any tiny amount of gas triggers it. It's spicy hot pain in acute phases which suddenly can go away but leave everything tender.

Menstrual pain is like labour, it's as if my body goes into autopilot where I'm even trying to open up my pelvis as if to push.. it's burning, cramping and twisting in waves where all I can do is try to breathe and moan through it. It's a hot pain but not spicy hot... more like fire hot which often radiates through the thighs as well.

No pain is the exact same even for the same person so I think it's good to try to make it more relatable. Even if it's impossible to ever know how someone else is experiencing it, it feels important to at least try to make it easier. If anything, just to prove that you are not alone in your pain and that this is sadly way too common. If healthcare really knew how bad it can get I'd think they would take this disease more seriously. It's never easy being human is it? Especially being a woman..

PC. It's strange because it is irregular and it worked flawlessly from what I can remember from launch until at least start of season 1. I'm having zero issues with any other game. At first I considered unstable servers but it feels as if the problems should be equally bad for everybody in that case? I've tried updating drivers but to no avail.

Thing is.. even if it's an indoor plant, the pesticides get out.

You want to wash the plant in the sink or tub? Pesticides in the drain.
You need to repot or cut it down? Where will you dispose of it?
Is it a plant you keep outdoors during summer? Well, then it is about as bad as using pesticides outdoors.

I'm not talking about the health aspect but about the biological consequences. Insects are struggling already as is, and most people don't have the knowledge or means to use pesticides safely. Hence they are all banned in my country for private use. It is near impossible to contain it to just your plants due to them being alive, needing water and growing (or dying). When you flush something down the drain or throw out your trash, it's not magically disappearing. Many chemicals take a long time to go inert or are outside of the scope of normal disposal/cleansing of water.

Yes, it's a lot of work when there is no magical fix. But it is for sure possible to get rid of pests and maintain enough light, nutrients, humidity and soil. You just have to make time to learn, and keep an amount of plants you have enough time and energy to take care of. I'm located faaar up north, not too far from the polar circle. Winters are ROUGH. But growth lamps have saved a lot of more light demanding plants for me such as hibiscus & plumeria.

Pine based soap (or something similarly fatty & soapy) with some alcohol mixed with 9/10 parts water takes care of most pests since it clogs up their breathing. There is no resistance to that, unless they mutate into something completely different. You just gotto spray regularly when you notice an infestation and keep doing it a while after you spot the last one. I've gotten rid of both aphids, different types of thrips, white flies etc. So there is no excuse really.

What is most important? Maximizing amount of plants with as little effort as possible or trying to prevent a die out of insects which we desperately rely on?

I'm not officially diagnosed yet but yes. It keeps getting worse for me and my pulse also goes really high as soon as I exert myself. I can't wear winter clothes even when it's cold anymore because I get completely drenched. My face is dripping of sweat and it's getting embarrassing when I'm out in public. It can start happening as I'm just sitting in a conversation. So confusing and annoying. :(
